The Rumour Thread

While caution about upcoming releases is definitely a good idea, the only predictable thing about GW release windows is how unpredictable they can be sometimes. GW never puts out new minis in December but Magnus came out in December, the first plastic Primarch and arguably one of GW's biggest releases ever. In the first three months of this year GW released almost double the number of kits they did last year.

We don't even know for sure if Kurnothi are coming with book 3 or indeed if they are coming this year at all.

The Legion imperialis release has been delayed but is still due to come out this year. That means something else will get bumped. We could see book 3 moved to the book 4 slot or even both of them moved to next year.

As I guess I'd say Kurnothi will get 1-4 kits with book 3 but I don't think anyone who doesn't have direct knowledge could make a more accurate claim then that.

2022 was such a slow year for releases, 2023 has been absolutely insane and we still have months left!!

About starter box , stormcast can stay on AoS starter box as they are poster boy .
but it would be nice if they use different faction for underworld  and warcry starter boxes . I don’t see why stormcast should be on those 2 games starter boxes

Warcry just has had 1 big box with stormcast and it wasn't the "core box".

On the underworlds side, of 9 seasons just 4 boxes had stormcast (not counting the 2 begginer boxes), so it's not really that bad

GW is the most predectible company I have ever met.

We know that the next window is between October-November and, without Epic, they must release:

Space Marines

Cities of Sigmar

Warcry

Underworlds

Battleforces

December is a small month of releases and they sometimes releases Army boxes and Christmas content like Almanacs or gift packs.

I'm expecting one or two kits for Kurnothi of they are gonna be released during the next months. If you are expecting a medium or a big release then It must be released during March-April. The main problema of the Kurnothi is that we are waiting for content of at least 7 more factions and the size of the books is limited. You are expecting more content than Arks of Omen and Broken Realms together and that's impossible.

GW have showed zero sign they're leaving the three-year cycle. At least for their core games. Seems a fair bet 4.0 will be next year.

I I really wish they would. I'm so tired of new editions every 3. years. It drove me away from 40K. So often the changes seem meaningless and arbitrary (Less so in AoS). It also seems very disingenuous. If your game needs to be fixed every 3 years, then its nota  good game. And if it doesn't need to be fixed, quit selling us a fix.

I know the whole point is to sell us stuff, but sell us stuff we actually want instead. Go ahead and do a giant 2 player box set every 3 years. It doesn't HAVE to be tied to a new edition.

I don't think that editions are made to fix anything.  They exists to shake things up ("if it's not broken, change it before it becomes old"), create expectations, a good excusr for new miniature boxes and a heavy push to start their financial year.

Rules are just a little part of all this things; erratas and FAQs are the main tool to fix their rules.

I detect a touch of hyperbole there. GW is predictable in that they've done these series for a while but the nature of each series has been remarkably different. Gathering storm was three books with three box sets. Malign portents was one book with four heroes. Psychic awakening was  9 books with a dozen characters and some dual boxes. Broken realms was 4 books with 4 small characters, 4 large centrepiece kits and 11 Lumineth kits. Arks of omens was 5 books, 20 boarding patrols, and about 6 new characters. The last two series have had all of their releases launch in the year of the new edition so Dawnbringers is already breaking the trend.

Again I'm not saying that Kurnothi will definitely be more than a couple of kits. I just don't agree that we can comprehensively rule that possibility out at this point especially as we're not even sure that book 3 is their book.

I'm still confused about next year. If gw is to be a predictable company we should be expecting three big waves of minis next year and we only know about one. Are we really going to get a 5 month gap of nothing between FeC and 4th? I'm wondering if we might see  a Dawnbringers book 5 and 6 or maybe even a whole new series.

Small correction this is correct for Arks of Omens but the first Broken Realms book Morathi was actually released in 2020 with the new edition in 2021

There are +-10 more release weekends in 2023, not counting the Knight release next week. There are at least seven major releases promises, the 5 @Nezzhil called out, plus the new HH box set and the start of the new KT season. If they do manage to get LI out, we're up to eight.

- 40K Space Marines
- Cities of Sigmar
- Warcry
- Underworlds
- Battleforces

- Horus Heresy Box Set
- KillTeam

Maybe WarCry and Underworlds will share a weekend, but I'd expect the other two weeks to be filled with filler – MTO, BL specials, etc. – more so than a big new release for a faction that hasn't been previewed yet.

I count twelve weeks until Christmas. The last week will probably just be Christmas stuff, so 11 proper weeks. There's a certainly a lot to fit in a small window. They released the spring warcry and Killteam boxes in the same week so it's possible they'll do that again.

At a guess I'd say pre-orders could be something like this.

Sep 30th marines

October 7th warcry and Underworlds

Oct 14th heresy box

Oct 21st Dawnbringers 3

Oct 28th legion imperialis

Nov 4th Killteam and warcry

Nov 11th cities

Nov 18th 40k  battleforces plus random stuff

Nov 25th AoS battleforces plus random stuff

Dec 2nd FeC box and Book 4??

Dec 9th black library stuff

Dec 16th Christmas stuff.

That really is a lot of stuff. It wouldn't surprise me if some of it slipped to next year.

I'm not really expecting anything marked "winter" on the roadmap to make it out this year. Maybe an early armybox release for FEC, but otherwise probably FEC, Harbringers 4, the Order vs Death Warcry Band and the 2nd standalone Underworlds band will all get pushed to Jan-Feb.

As far as I understand ( From Valrak video) The Old world has been pushed forward to beginning of 2024 in order to make room to Epic in November.

I think we can likely see a 5th Dawnbringers book in spring.

Yep winter is December 22nd to March 2024 so rule out FEC battletome and dawnbringers 4

In Gw land Autumn is September 1st  to November 30th . Autumn officially started on September 23rd but Dawnbringers 2 and Tyranids were slated for autumn and are already out. The same thing happened in Summer. Things that were slated for summer came out in the first week of June.

Generaly GW uses the Thanksgiving holiday to drop a new "specialist" box set and this year it has to be Epic given the delay and all that. We should see battleforces around that time as well. I feel like the rest of this year is going to be absolutely crammed with stuff if they're trying to keep to schedule.

Maybe. I remember Eddie on the harbinger preview show stating "who knows what they winter will bring "

2 week preorder is interesting, wonder if there will still be a new preorder in between?

Another dawnbringer story next week as well!

Forgeworld and Mail To Order in between, if we want to get hope we can expect something small like a warband or something like that. They normally don't release anything at the same time that a two weeks preorder if it is a big release like this case

The last two week pre-orders (Age of Darkness and Leviathan) they haven't had anything except third party JoyToy stuff.

It may be a little different this time since it's 'only' a codex and model wave of course. Seems like a good slot to drop some Warcry teams imo.
