  1. Uh huh. But those are narrative themes. We're talking about visual themes. Thats not the same thing.
  2. They're not delaying them that much. They'll all be out in the first year. Have you ever played another game from launch? Almost no game has every faction available right away. It took new Necromunda a year to do its 6 gangs, and that was just a box each. You don't want to launch everything at the same time. Its a bad idea for so many reasons.
  3. They did release all armies at once. Every army had a playable list at launch. They didn't release miniatures for all armies at once. That would have been impossible. That would have been, by far, the biggest miniature release of all time. During a year where GW is struggling with production capacity, releasing hundreds of models and kits all at once would just be impossible. Even in a good year it would have brought every other product line screeching to a halt. Its ridiculous to think this was even an option. I think so far their release plan has bene fine. we already have 3 full model lines released, with a 4th coming very soon. Its not very hard at all to get models for most other armies, even without resorting to 3d printing or proxying. I pretty easily put together a full Dark Elf army with a trip to my local shop and a few ebay purchases. My group has full Dwarf, Empire, Lizardmen, Beasts, High Elves and Skaven armies, in addition to people who bought the already available Tomb Kings, Brets and Orcs& Goblins. No one had much trouble getting what the needed, except for the guys trying to do original Chaos Dwarves. And even he's up to 1000 points.
  4. I mean, my entire group is brand new players. And online Im seeing a lot of new players.
  5. "Aged well" is kind of subjective. For some people those kits are perfect bits of nostalgia. For other people, those kits are the peak of miniature design and sculpting in a style they love. I personally think that a lot of older kits have a more interesting style than many modern kits, as well as some really lovely and characterful sculpting. And of course, some are just ******. But its really subjective! I'm really excited for miniatures in absolutely every army coming back. Not ALL of them, but a lot of them!
  6. Cursing word is disappointing. But it was probably never meant to be that powerful. Still, I'm not sure of its very attractive now. Murderous is just frustrating. I feel like it really shouldn't have the restrictions, since it feels like we're paying for the ability but never getting to actually use it.
  7. Is it more popular? Or do they just like selling us a new hero along with units we already have?
  8. They're insisting on keeping the focus on SCE instead of allowing another army to be in the starter box, but they know the SCE line is bloated and they can't keep endlessly filling it with new units. So we get a Stormcast refresh 10-15 years ahead of schedule (compared to Primaris). Thats the problem with insisting on having a poster faction and trying to artificially recreate space Marine popularity. You burn through decades of releases way to quick and end up trying to force your player base to rebuy the same units they just bought a few years ago.
  9. Are there any changes for Dark Elves? They said to download the new doc, so I did. I was eager to see if they had changed Murderous. Unfortunately not. I didn't notice anything else, but I'm bad at spotting changes. Speaking of Murderous, what is the situation where you would want to give up your 2nd hand weapon to use it?
  10. what if faction A only sells more than faction B because you put all your resources into it? A decade solid of promotion, new releases, novels, video games, animation and 4 starter boxes. I don't think people realize that Space Marines and SCE are popular because GW focused on them to the near exclusion of everything else for years (and for decades in the case of Marines). They could also do this with other factions if they wanted to. Not every faction would gain the same benefit from a because of promotion, but nearly every faction would see real and likely permanent growth. That's how this works. Wouldn't it be nice to have MULTIPLE factions that sell that well? You know, to make more money?
  11. Yes, because they keep pouring resources into SCE. Pour similar resources into another army and you'll get similar results. Very likely any of those factions would be MUCH more popular and profitable if they'd received nearly a decade of non stop hype, new releases, novels and other media tie ins and had been featured in 4 core boxes.
  12. Painting Dark Elf spearmen. I promised myself I'd paint another 8 before moving on my Cold Ones.
  13. while you're right, thats true of literally every GW game.
  14. I think you're right. Additionally, I think a main factor is that they need to get the existing factions they built the game around out first, and thats going to take at least the rest of the year. I also suspect that once that happens we're going to start seeing at least some of the "PDF only" factions. Maybe not all of them, and maybe not right away, but I think its inevitable that at least some are coming.
  15. Uh huh. Personally, I have 0 interest in seeing Dark elves added to DoK. I got into DoK for how elf women, not random dudes. They established aesthetic of the army is women. Adding in existing Dark elves would ruin that. I'm not thrilled with a shared book either, if only because I suspect Daughters would get none of the attention, and Malarion would suck up all the releases. As someone with (currently) no interest in Malarion thats just not attractive to me at all. I think Dark Elves have a good home in Cities, and I hope they stay there.
  16. Theres no way they'll cut Skinks from Seraphon. They just didn't get refreshed in the last wave, thats all. We'll see them eventually. I agree that most pre-AoS models will eventually be redone. They won't be cut. They're not going to cut Daughters of Khaine, even though the entire core of teh army is from WHFB. The most likely scenario for any model at all is that it will eventually get resculpted. That's especially true of BOC. Building an army is a decades long investment. They won't throw that away. Theres literally no reason to.
  17. Please list them. I would LOVE to see them.
  18. Thats what Indexes are though. Rules that last until an army gets a book. We've seen this before multiple times. It also makes zero sense to move BOC to legends at the beginning of the edition. The entire point of Indexes is they can release them all at once, and then get around to doing books when they get around to it. Even if thats never. If thats the case with BOC, they'll be on their index until they get a new book or until the next set of indexes.
  19. I think you have it wrong. The origin of the rumor was that the models were being removed so the line could be reworked, similar to how High Elves were removed from Cities to make way for Realm Lords. People panicked and only head the first part, and every other rumor came out of that panic. As far as I know there's no reliable rumor that says the line is ONLY being removed. Tp be fair, the original rumor is also somewhat suspect. So I think there's very good reason for people to not believe it. The entire rumor is mostly panic and echo chamber. As a side note, I think its very possible that a person could hear the line IS being removed and pass that rumor on without knowing or understanding that the line is actually being reworked for a future release. I'm not saying that's what happened, but I do think that could be very likely.
  20. I'd much prefer they leave out teh Stormcast and give us scenery instead. you need scenery to play the game, and more is always useful. You don't need Stormcast at all, and those that want Stormcast already are spoiled for choice.
  21. Yeah, they may have felt that the army was already very complete.
  22. I do wonder if... 1. There maybe IS an O&G plastic kit coming, but for whatever reason it wasn't ready for this launch. Maybe instead it will be saved for a campaign book later. 2. Maybe this Dwarf model already existed in some form, so was easy to bring into production. Maybe it had been designed for 8th and scrapped. Maybe it even got as far as a render. It looks like a very modern model to me, but 8th wasn't really that long ago.
  23. I'm not surprised by that. We already saw this with the Tomb King dragon. I bet we'll see it more. Its an easy way for them to release multiple models for an army without having to do extra kits. If they're limited to 1 plastic kit a quarter (like Necromunda was for awhile, I think) using it to produce 2 models is smart.
  24. When Orc & Goblins didn't have a new plastic kit I assumed they had only created ones for the two launch factions. But now we have this great kit. so now I wonder if other factions WILL get new plastic kits. If so I wonder why O&G got skipped? We know they only have limited resources, but why choose this dwarf kit over a new Orc kit?
  25. what about the new mounted Lady for the Bretts?
