  1. You guys should catch up on the lastest FAQ. This is no longer a thing. Single model chariot units can no longer be the High Beastmaster. In regards to the deployment issue, if you ran with Living City that would be not an issue anymore, but then again you need to tailor the list around the city, and the general confers no bonuses. I think dropping few of the chariots and getting a High Wizard on Hurricanum in the same price range would be the best way to run this. You are not loosing on dmg since hurricanum is 3D3 MW, though its range is shorter, plus you get a caster on your side of the table.
  2. My biggest issue with this Old World stuff is .... what now ? I re-based 2 of my armies, both of which are horde styled (BoC and DoK) to circular bases. Not gonna go into the lengths of explaining how long this took to do. I was just about to start the same with my CoS, when this thing dropped. I mean... what now ? Should I re-base my CoS ? should I keep the squares ? And what about the new additions to the army ? Big monster units that have large bases, that I`ll be turning into nice scenery themed bases. What do I do with those ? Let say I place my Dragons on circular ones and then they drop the bad news we are going back to squares.... FFS ! I like the Old World as any other fan boy who started his Warhammer addiction way back in those days (and its not even THAT much for me, just a decade or so, there are people who have been around for much much longer), but hell.... I aint going through all of this AGAIN no matter how nostalgic or good the rule set is. So what do you guys think ? Squares ? Circles ? What would be the best course of action for me to do with my new additions ? Base them on circles for AoS use, or go pre-emptive, put them on squares, and add the conversion template base under it ? Sigh....
  3. Personally I think the best pick would be 1# TEMPEST’S EYE > bonus move and armor on the first turn helps you spread out your army nicely. In addition TE allows its units to Run and Shoot which for this type of list would be very nice indeed. For chariots that stay in the back, surrounding the general get the Hawk-eyed: trait: +1 to Wound for shooting attacks. Their spells are not bad, but nothing you necessarily need. 2# GREYWATER FASTNESS > The City traits dont do much for you, but the general has access to two nice one: Drillmaster: Re-Roll 1 to hit for shooting, and Ghoul Mere Ranger: Run and Shoot, both are 12" within the general. Mostly dmg spells in here. 3# Living City> Exact Opposite of the GF above. You wont get much from your general, but on the other hand the City confers some very nice abilities. First is innate 1W regeneration for your chariots each turn. Second allows you to ambush 50% of your army and have them arrive up till turn 4. The City also allows you to make an additional move after the units that came on the table via ambush have shot. In this case that means all the chariots will get in, shoot and then get a free move to roll away from danger. The city has access to some nice support spells. In a chariot centric army like this, these 3 cities would be the most viable ones, as they directly influence your units and provide either a movement or dmg buff to them.
  4. They are strong, this has been agreed by most in the Anvilguard thread before. And they can fit into any CoS list regardless of what your main theme is due to the low price. But no, they are not OP per say. They are strong for what they do, and they do it great. But its a one trick pony thats very easy to counter if your whole strategy rests upon chariots and nothing but chariots. That list you put up would be a lot of fun to watch unfold on the table, and against unsuspecting opponent it might do really well. But against certain lists and armies, It will get shredded in turn. But who cares about that, go full ham with the Chariots ! I would love to see a battle report done with this or similar list (at least one more character would be required I suppose, and maybe a wizard or two). Even more so a video battle report. Oh boy
  5. Response to Kugane, but in general Off Topic for the thread, so spoiler tab to not take to much space
  6. Been there, done that I believe there should be some pictures rolling around, however considering how the CoS thread exploded into like dozens of subthreads I cant remember in which mini thread I uploaded them. If you want to go with Titan Forge, I would STRONGLY recommend waiting for Christmass as they tend to have a pretty good discount on their stock. I too still need more of the Dragon Cav (2) in order to run 6 man unit of Chocobos, 10 mixed komainu unit for Darkriders, at least one big shrine, 2 more chariots and some 20 more archers/handgunner, plus some battle monks. If I went with the purchase now ..... yeah you can imagine the price. And I already have a solid chunk of their stuff, so for me its just expanding the army. In your case, if you`re trying to build the from the scratch I`d recommend waiting for the big winter discounts that ought to come. But of course if you have the funds and are short on time, dont let me stop you! I would recommend also checking the Cadwallon stuff. They have bunch of interesting miniatures you might wanna add to your collection (for example very nice fox-dragon riding miko priestess, great for Sorc on Bdragon or BatMage on Gryf.... although I`ve been toying with the idea of using her as Hurricanum as well).
  7. So, to follow up on my last comment where I talked about 3D printed Centigors.... I looked around and found some regular, decent looking centaurs. The problem though, was just that..... centaurs. So head swapping at the very least, greenstuffing fur and such more likely then not needed. As such I tried to give it a go myself, and used the "Hero Forge" application to create your custom build 3D model. The scale is a bit of an issue, as I need to do some measurements if I ever wanna send this to be printed out, but this is mostly a proof of concept, that.... YES it can be done! And to a decent enough degree! Proof of Concept - 3D Printable Centigors (different poses). To save myself the trouble, I opted for a fur themed costume and used a Dog head, instead of a human one. Not perfect but pretty close without the need to replace it. I kept the base in the picture to give an idea on the scale. Just slap some extra bitz or GS parts on it and there you go. Alternatively take any head and replace it manually with a Gor head. Done So yeah, its a viable solution. Depending on the price of the file and the price of the printing this might be a much more affordable and time saving option then going with the outdated GW ones, or painstakingly converting your own
  8. Hey guys so I was wondering.... Does any one have any decent 3D printable files for good looking Centigors ? I tire of converting my own, and the old GW ones are not only expensive, ancient but also scale wise smaller than the rest of our line. Rather than hoping GW actually gets of their ass and does something with these old sculpts (razorgors included. I mean look at the cool looking boars Mierce Mini have to offer), and or painstainkingly converting my own I was wondering if maybe someone out here has a 3D printable file for some correctly scaled, nice looking ones ?
  9. Well technically they are ambushing (which makes the whole thing even more hilarious) but still.... "Master, news from the front" "Yes servant ?" "The scouts heard some weird rumbling, screeching noises from the forest. Shall we investigate ?" "Weird noises you say ? Nonsense, thats just the local fauna embracing the gifts of Chaos!" "But master there is black smoke rising from multiple spots, and its drawing ever closer!" "Excellent! The wild beasts of Chaos have begun their assault and are on their way to join with my army! Thats a good thing servant, the Gods are with us!" "But master! Cant you feel the earth shaking ? As if something large and heavy was rolling down the hill ?" "But of course servant! They brought Gorgons and Gargants. Very good ! My attack on the City shall truly be Victorious !" *Something flies out of the forest at high velocity and smashes the Chaos warriors ranks* "Hmm they need to train their Cygor better. the Enemy lines are that way. Maybe I should make a case with the Lord of Change and ask him to grant them a second eye.... or a magnifying glass" *Rolling Stones music starts playing as the first shape bursts out of the tree line* "See servant ? I told you it was the Beastmen! Thats why you should never doubt me!" "Certainly master, I`d never..... although.... dont you think those beastmen are a little bit.... err how to put it nicely..... mushy ? pierced by metal spikes protruding from the wheels ? You know.... as if they were squished by that giant tank kontraption thats rolling down towards us ?" *More steam tanks appear from the forest, all similarly adorned by gore and blood as they made their way through a beastmen horde and start firing into the Chaos Lines.* "(in a hushed voice) Seems like old Gregor was right once again.... sigh.... Ahem!...Your orders Ooo Malevolent one ?" "......." "Master ?" *turns around to see the chaos lords flying mutated mount preparing to take of the ground.* "Master.... where are you going ?!" "Ah! This is not how it looks like! I am.... I was.... err... I forgot to turn of the Oven! I must return to Castle Fluffyspike at once! We dont want to risk it burning to the ground now do we! And with that said Gregor.... off we go!" "Aaaah wait for old Gregor masteeeer!" *The old servant latches on top of the scaled beasts tail as it swiftly takes off into the sunset, while a cadre of *cough* "ambushing" *cough* steam tanks happily plunge into the surprised Chaos line.
  10. Wait a sec guys. The OBR catapult doesnt just deal MW. 2 of its abilities say "the model is slain". That a hard removal, not just simple wounding of a unit.
  11. Splintered fangs would look fantastic in a Greeko Roman themed army. The bitz and miniatures for conversion of this style are abundant as well.
  12. In short > I think CoS is safe at least until AoS 3.0 hits. Definitely not getting squatted right after repacking, a tome (and a very well received and popular one) release and what not. Plus there needs to be one generic human/elf/dwarfs army among all the nonsense, and CoS fits the bill. I guess we will see in the next 2 years what GW is up to with AoS. Seeing as bunch of the old armies are making a proper return with up to date tomes (CoS, STD, Mawtribe Ogors), I dont think anything else that has not yet been is getting squatted suddenly. At least not in 2.0. Again who knows how things will look as we near 3.0 but thats still a LOOOOONG way to go.
  13. Nice DB conversion! I got my Ogroid ready for this as well. Just need to get an extra minotaur head, since I have no spare left.
  14. And here are some more news. Slaves to Darkness finally get an updated. New battletome and refreshed model range. (Meanwhile again, we didnt get new dynamic poses, nor new centigors, ectc... but, due to Beastgrave I am not yet loosing hope for this to happen). Since they are our only allied faction I am actually looking forward seeing their rules. Especially the Demon Prince and Sorcerers. Hope there will be some keyword CHAOS synergy for their stuff, to allow us some play as well. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/11/02/new-reveals-chaos-sororitas-tanks-and-moregw-homepage-post-1/?fbclid=IwAR3ulr-elEVoxGBbA_BUzTnDMlcvlA6BcqQO_Y03pPUOVORxe9SqVfXeBYk On the side note: 2 more new beasties for Warcry. A combat type Ogroid, and a big Kitty Cat, which is super adorable (and again I am sure wont have BoC keyword just like Raptorix.... coz hey, cant give them BoC players new things right ?)
  15. Just thought I share this with my fellow Beastmen Warcry latest faction > Spire Tyrants, has a Bestigor! At the very least he seems to be an elite unit, but looking at all of them my guess is he is the Leader ! I hope we can get more love as time goes on. But the sheer fact that there was Beastgrave BoC warband and now these guys have a Bestigor (Leader) included, seems like BoC has not been completely forgotten yet. Lets hope for more good news in the future (new centigors miniatures with at least 2 weapon options and updated warscroll. New model for Beastlord would be nice. Return of Chariot heroes or something, etc) https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/10/24/the-scoop-from-spielGw-homepage-post-2/?fbclid=IwAR26xjQZEhG0f2FIQ0RSJixAh94HmfUekTYuegV1VqeoaZlMmcsP1Q4Ndls
  16. Or you can run purely hybrid build of the two styles. Static devastating gun line, with fast quick shooty units as chaff Harpoon cart, Pistoleer/Outriders, Dark Riders, Sisters of Thorn, Gyrocopters. Essentially you would be playing old school Wood Elves at that point. Shunning away from combat and staying out of the way with your fast chaff, while your more powerful gun line removes enemy priority targets (anything that can either outrun/catch your chaff, or outshoot you). Magic could be conidered shooting for all intents and purposes, as it always has been in these scenarios. But still your character selection will be limited.... unless of course you consider Dreadlord on Black dragon, packing a xbow a shooty unit .... In which case take 2-3 to get at least some anvil to throw the enemys way. Other than that, you are stuck with Battlemages, Battlemage Hurricanum and Cogsmith. But lets be honest here - characters are characters. When taking purely shooting army, they are not included in that. You really want that Freeguild general, or Nomad prince if you are going to run this setup. Yeah. I think its perfectly feasible. Some armies will make your day really sad (fast, alpha strike armies, and ambushers mostly), but unless you are planning on going to play this in a competitive meta I think it might work. ....heck it might work even in competitive meta. Who knows.
  17. Its not about whats optimal or good. The units I listed are units I personally find appealing and fun one way or another and somehow always end up in my lists, even if I try not to include them
  18. Looking just at the artwork thats not a hard to do project. Depending on ones funds and how much they want to invest, I think 3 kits used could be (though you might be able to do with just 2). the old HE Queens Guard model head, Far seer torso from Artel studios (the dynamic pose one), and weapons and bits from DE Corsairs should do the trick nicely. Hands can be easily cut and re positioned, covering the gap with a little greenstuff as you go. Yeah, it would be nice to get more Cities from other realms as well. (I`d love the KO > make your own Port, City builder. But I fear it would be either too weak, or to OP in regards to the combination of Trait, Artifacts and abilities.
  19. Good example of what you are talking about is Beastgrave, the last expansion for Underworld. The Beastmen party in there is ACTUALLY not bad at all in AoS. While not super powerful the Grashrak’s Despoilers do bring a nice utility spell that the BoC desperately needed to have since day 1 of the army (its a simple To Hit buff against enemy units) launching. So given that, I wouldn't put it behind GW to make something nice, that has a Warscroll with working synergy for CoS armies.
  20. Well honestly, and truthfully, while it certainly would be very cool to see, I personally dont mind if it doesnt happen. Warcry was meant to be mostly focused on the 6+ new Chaos Warbands, so I wouldnt mind it staying that way. (While its nice they included cards for the old factions, some of those are badly balanced, even outright broken and ruin the game rather than add more to it, Ironjawz and FEC and I`d rather they didnt include them at all, as it kinda does ruin the Chaos Cult theme). Though with Cities of Sigmar being finally fleshed out, and the knowledge that there are chaos cultist living directly within them (like the Cypher Lords and Corvus Cabal), I think an expansion book for the Human/Aelf/Duardin residents would make a lot of sense.
  21. Is this merely a rumor or has there been any confirmation on this ? I do enjoy Warcry for the simple fast game it is, and really like the aesthetic of the Chaos Warbands, so could definitely see the amazing visual potential CoS warband could have.
  22. Irondrakes are pretty darn nice. To bad I dont have the proper thematic miniatures to field them. Same with Gyrocopters with the steam gun. Need to figure out something for those to fit my Catpon-Niphay army In regards to CoS > I havent have had the option to play them yet, for real life reasons, but from what I can see when I compare them to my BoC army, they are great. Have good internal sinergies with units like Hurricanum and Luminark giving army wide buffs, meaning any combination of units you choose can still benefit from those. I do find the lack of variety in character type a bit annoying though. One would expect that a mounted version should not be an issue for our characters, especially since the miniatures did exist, and there is actual cavalry in the book. You might wanna use the heroes with the cavalry, and for that reason you would need mounts. Unfortunately it seems there was a lack of foresight in this regards, so while we do have plenty cav options. all of them lack the one attachable mounted hero > and no a gryf/dragon hero are not the same as a cheap dude on horse/deer/drakespawn who is there primarily for the buff and some add on dmg. Also Nomad Prince not having access to Bow is just weird. The book really does shine though in the Army selection department. You can build your army in so many different combinations and variations of those combinations, that for people who like me, like to play each game with a slightly different list, there is plenty of replay ability (for the lack of better term) every time with a different setup. Also as a BoC player, having this magnituted of ranged options is like..... Boooom... Mind Blown as I mentioned in my older post, they got it all > MW shooting, Mass shooting, Rend shooting, D3 dmg shooting, Artillery (admittedly, lack of Cannons is weird). Its a "make your choice" army. As for basic units, the one I feel most drawn to seems to be the Halberd Freeguild Guard. 3x10/20 units, standing around our lines securing positions and slowly advancing forward. With Hurricanum, these 80pts units become low level elite infantry and with a Freeguild General on foot, they become proper elite infantry 2+/2+/-1/1, despite having just 1 attack. There is so many nice units in the book, that both old and new players will find something they like. Both look, role and performance wise my favorite units are these: Free guild Guard with halberds, Shadow Warriors, Scourgerunner Chariot, Wild Riders, Demigryf Knights These are units I tend to use as the core of most of my lists and then fill in the rest. As you can see its rather interesting mish mash form all the subfactions. And I think this is one of the most fun and also most appealing aspects of this book. The array of choices (sure there are some dissapointments as well but ) is huge, even if you dont include KO, SCE or Sylvaneth. The army has the potential for both fun and competitive scene games alike. And dont even get me started (coz this post would be even longer than it already is) on the HUGE + that is the hobby aspect of customizing, modeling, roleplaying etc your City! Make your own city, with its own unique theme (role and model wise, rule wise you still have to use one of the existing 6) and let your imagination run wild!
  23. You get a Kharybdis ! You get a Kharybdis ! Everybody gets a F-ing Kharybdis ! We have Kharybdises for DAYS ! On a different note > Dreadlord now has the same degradation profile as the Sorcereres which is good. Much better than the previous one. As for how they not noticed that units that have DRAGON in their names dont have DRAGON keyword..... bruh... thats just lazy. Regarding the chariots. At least make it 1 out of 2, not 3 > < Though honestly, they are still good choice for 60pts. You will sit them at the Hurricanum early game anyway, so the main gun is still scary. Though the repeaters xbows do suffer a bit from dropping to 4+ only (with Hurricanum). I expected this change as it made no sense for there to be a unit champ upgrade for a single model unit. Still gonna run at least 2-4 in my lists. As for Drakespawns - Rather than a price drop I`d like to see the Cold ones get a -1 Rend, and the Riders get one additional attack. Make them feel like the heavy cav. they are supposed to represent. How did the Orruks fare in general. Was there some nerfing done on their side as well ?
  24. Battlemages can have a Realm Spell of their own, while also being part of the realm the Army is from. This has been extensively discussed in a different thread. So you absolutely can have a Battlemage from Shyish, who is part of an Aqshy realm City army, meaning the Battle mage will have access to both the City spells and his 1 unique spell from a different realm > In this case the Pall of Doom. @Mikkl Good catch on that one I am sure @zilberfrid will be stoked about this. .... Jesus a -7Dsc. bomb > ___ < !! Even armies that have Disc 10 will suffer when this things is invoked unless they outright ignore Battleshock. As someone who plays BoC I would never EVER want to face this type of nonsense.
  25. Witch Elves and similar 1W infantry should not be able to even make it to your lines, unless they go full out with Chronomantic Cogs hoping for 1st turn charge, Steed of Shadows, or use the Khaliebron teleport setup. The amount of accurate mass shooting CoS can send their way should blast them of the table the moment they cross a certain treshold. And if the do get in on the first turn ? Who cares, you have your cheap chaff nicely position ready to die gloriously in the service of the Emp.... err Sigmar! after which they are sitting out in the open, looking up the barrels of your gun line Anything under 18" should get torn to shreds, and that 2-3 miniatures that make it through should get caught off by chaff. I`ve been playing with different ranged combinations in the Warscroll builder, and its a no joke for anything that has worse armor than 5, and doesnt negate wounds on 4+ The minimum cumulative shots you should have for non Monster/Heavy cav oriented army CoS army is around 30/40+ Regardless of what it is, pretty much all of it will be 2+/2+ If its a big blob ? Now its a dead big blob. If its MSU ? Well... aintch ya just glad you took MSU units as well, thus there is plenty of pointy flying death in the air for everybody. If its a monster rush ? Yeah... no. I mean this army has it all.... Mass non rending shooting, MW shooting, -1Rend shooting. And the synergies of traits, artifacts and command abilities makes all of it super buffed. Personally after reading the Anvilgard forum thread, I think the Harpoon carts are amazign purchase. 60 pts of pure undiluted murder in the air. 4 of them cost 240 pts, which is less then most blob infantry (Witch Elves are 300 I believe), and can tear through units like those with ease, if given proper buffs. Outriders are also very scary. Take 10. Minimum shots is 20, max 40 (D3 shots +1 each). 200pts. Fast and fairly tough against enemy fire. Depending on what they are shooting, they can strip the charging blobs of most of their fighting strength. Or if you want to have some fun > 2 hellblasters and Cogsmith. Or sisters of the Watch for Mortal Wounds. Or Several dozens of Dark Shards. Or.... the list goes on So many options, and so many synergies! I Wish BoC book was half as well constructed as the CoS is.
