AoS 2 - Clan Skyre Discussion

Here is the new thread for discussing Clan Skyre. With the imminent release of AoS 2 (and a lot of the info already being out there), now is the time for us to start afresh on TGA. Moving forward, this will be the main thread to chat about and discuss Clan Skyre in the new edition. I still wholly encourage people to keep their own threads/army blogs within this sub forum and I also think those are a great place to share some photos as I know not everyone frequents the Painting & Modelling section. But this thread is purely for discussion around the faction, things such as (but not limited to) tactics and list building etc. You all know the drill, we've been doing it on this forum since inception! For newer players, I would say the older thread could still be worth perusal and whilst it is now locked for further replies, you can find it here - http://www.tga.community/forums/topic/11269-let´s-talk-skyre/ Really excited to see what we can come up with as a community and I look forward to reading all your ideas and thoughts.

    2k List Ulgu Order Draconis

Been messing around with my old Order Draconis list that was 60 points under last edition and with the battalion dropping 50 points gives me a few more options that I think makes the list one of the premier "Alpha Strike" list for the time being. Okay for those new to the list the Dragonlord host gives the battalion what amounts to a double move with a few bonus once per game and with our min 12" speed stat that makes getting to where we want to go a breeze. I feel of our (admittedly limited) Ally spellcaster options the Archmage is best over all having a solid spell, +1 on Despelling and a whooping 14" movement letting him keep up with the army. Having only 4 drops should give us exceptional odds of going first. Now here is where the fun begins with out new shiny shiny artifacts and fun new spells. With Chronomantic cogs giving an additional 2" movement that means 2 of our 3 dragons will be moving a whooping 32" inches to set up there attacks and now gives out 3rd dragon decent odds to get in the fray first turn as well. Also with +2" on charges means we can position our dragons further deeper into their lines and our troops have next to no chance of failing their charges. We can also spread out further as each Dragonlord can create a 10" reroll hits bubble rather then just the General. Now we get into out new artifacts.....and they are GLORIOUS! Dimensional Blade turns our already good Dragon lance into on the charge a +3 +2 -3! D3. On our leader that make him have 4-7 attacks (Thanks to the War horns) Rerolling hits (With command ability). Thats just dirty and doesn't even touch on the rest of the attacks from claws and jaws. Now the next artifact is already known to us. The Quicksilver potion lets us immediately attack with our 2nd Dragon hopefully crippling anything that could threaten it before our opponent gets to activate. Now previously that would let our opponent then get to activate and try to lay low out 3rd Dragon before it gets to have its fun. Oh not anymore as it has my new FAVORITE artifact the Doppelganger Cloak. This I think is the BEST hand down artifact for a melee beatstick as it prevents your opponent from targeting it in combat until after it activates. SO GOOD! Just so you know if your opponent has less units in combat then you and you have at least 1 other unit in combat with whatever the Cloak-bearer is fighting if you activate correctly your opponent cannot attack the bearer. At the very least whatever is in combat with the Bearer is getting hit first. (Though do note if your opponent has a cloak as well if both bearers of the Cloak are in combat solely with each other neither will be able to attack. What to do with the stuff I've got

Hey folks, I've been going a little nuts on ebay etc and now have a fair wodge of stuff either waiting to be built or en route through the post. Due to pouncing on bargains and getting a bit distracted by all the chat about grimghast reapers, I've lost the focus I had on building a 2k deathmarch grand host or legion of night, and due to being selfishly peeved with battlescribe for them changing the LoN listing for AoS 2.0 (thus requiring effort to port my old lists across), I'm finding it hard to drum up much enthusiasm for creating a new list based on what I have. I know there's a good few folks on here who love a bit of list-crunching however, so to rekindle my enthusiasm and focus, I thought I'd throw it out there - how would you use the stuff I have? Specifically, what would you use at 1k from this range? And what would you suggest for a 2k? (other than more grimghast reapers of course!) So I have/will have: 3 vampire lords, 2 on foot 1 on nightmare, with some wings hopefully en route in the post for one of the foot dudes 2 necromancers 2 Wight Kings (both with blade not axe) 46 skellies - 10 with spears, 16 with blades, the rest unassembled 10 grave guard 10 Black knights 5 blood knights 6 spirit hosts 3 Vargheists 4 grimghast reapers As many dire wolves as I can be bothered to assemble. A bit messy I know ? how would you use them?

    Allegiance: Firestorm

Opening up this blog of unconventional picks and tactics, we're going to talk about the allegiance abilities released with the Firestorm Campaign. There's something for each of the Grand Alliances, though the vast majority of them are centred on the ORDER alliance (it was an expansion based on the new free cities, so that's just a given). What are the requirements? For a start, the Firestorm Allegiances recieved an errata where you can only take them as a supplement to being Grand Alliance allegiance. This was changed to prevent armies like Stormcast Eternals abusing the Anvilgard rules and armies like Sylvaneth abusing the Living City rules. As the Firestorm allegiance abilities don't replace your existing ones, and instead add on to them, this was a necessary change to prevent giving existing allegiances a considerable leg-up. Secondly, each allegiance has a list of factions it can include, it doesn't have to include all of them but it can only include choices from these factions. As an example, we'll take the Tempest's Eye free city. So to start, it's important to remember that if for example the army is a Swifthawk Agent's army and you'd like to take the Tempest's Eye allegiance to give yourself a bit of an edge, you still get to use your Shadow Warriors and Spireguard as battleline, because your army is still built entirely of units with the SWIFTHAWK AGENTS keyword. The tricky part is if you want to ally units. You may still ally in as usual, however you can only use the ally choices that are also in the Tempest's Eye requirements (in this case, only the Stormcast Eternals and Eldritch Council). This limits you somewhat, but both contribute well to what a Swifthawk army lacks anyway so it works out relatively well. Allegiance: Order (Tempest's Eye) Mortal Realm: Hysh Leaders High Warden (220) - General - Trait: Inspiring - Artefact: Lens of Refraction Skywarden (160) - Zephyr Trident Skywarden (160) - Zephyr Trident Loremaster (140) - Allies Knight-Azyros (100) - Allies Battleline 5 x Reavers (140) 5 x Reavers (140) 5 x Reavers (140) 5 x Reavers (140) Units 30 x Spireguard (300) 10 x Shadow Warriors (180) 10 x Shadow Warriors (180) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 240 / 400 Wounds: 126 So here's a list I've bashed up that I would enjoy playing with the Tempest's Eye allegiance. Straight away we can see it's an extremely mobile army. The army's deadly shooting is accentuated by the allied Knight-Azyros swooping down and providing rerolls, and the Loremaster is pretty much good in any army because he can turn any hero into a godly beatstick with the rerolls he hands out. The army utilizes it's extreme mobility to compete against armies it ordinarily wouldn't be able to deal with, using the small speedbost from Tempest's Eye to reach key positions before the enemy does, and gets the enemy into it's shooting range a turn ahead of when it normally would. When should I take Firestorm Allegiances? It almost feels like these armies were designed to give the old Fantasy Battle line that hasn't recieved a battletome a bit of a boost. For example, you'd be a fool to take this over the allegiance abilities provided by being Stormcast or Kharadron Overlords allegiant, but if you have a Dispossessed army and aren't a fan of the Grudge system they were given, or feel like starting a Swifthawk Agents army after going halves with a friend on the Spire of Dawn / Island of Blood kit, these are the rules for you. Comment your thoughts below guys, and if there's anything specific you want me to cover be it a Firestorm Allegiance or anything else, let me know.

    Allegiance: Gutbusters

Coming in HOT after a small points reduction to some key units it's Destruction's finest multi-wound, semi elite force. This faction is packed with solid, durable units and very few of them deal less than 2 damage with each swing of their weapon and some brutal syngergies. Where to start? Well obviously we need to get a hero and at least two battleline choices. Starting with the Hero choice, the Gutbusters have two of these. The Tyrant is a melee bruiser who can smack most other heroes into line, with a randomly generated bonus trait not unlike a command trait and a toasty command ability that lets him inflict D3 mortal wounds on a friendly Gutbuster unit to make it totally immune to battleshock. The Butcher is the wizard choice, usually taken with the optional Great Cauldron option that gives him a random ability that can heal or harm. Obviously with only two hero choices, we'll probably end up having some of each of these two. As battleline goes, you've got Ogors (generic battleline), and Leadbelchers and Ironguts (Gutbusters battleline). The Ogors are your rank and file, packing 4 wounds and decent damage. The Leadbelchers are more of the same but packing decent firearms as well. The Ironguts are your elite infantry, horrifyingly brutal in close combat and capable of taking down basically anything. Where to next? Now we have the foundation, we need to tack on some utility. Often overlooked in this allegiance are the Grots, these cheap little gobbos can net objectives and form decent screens to prevent your valuable troops being closed on by enemy assets. Furthermore, the Tyrant can make them permanently immune to battleshock, which is exceptionally useful. For shooting, Leadbelchers are already passable but to mix some artillery in we have the Grot Scraplauncher (good at dicing hordes) and the Ironblaster (high rend that does ok against numbers but is better served shooting at high wound single models. Also weirdly good at close combat). There's also Gorgers, a flanking option that's also relatively cheap. They are made from finecast however, so consider converting some out of Flesh Eater Crypt Haunters. Adding in Allies Keeping with the Ogor theme, both the Stonehorn and Thundertusk Beastriders can be allied in at 2k points, and the Frostlord on either mount can tag along at 2.5k. For less extravegant options consider the Maneaters, an elite Ogor unit which is both flexible and fun to convert up, and various trolls from the Troggoths units for some seriously durable units. The Finished Product Allegiance: Gutbusters Leaders Tyrant (160) - Massive Ogor Club Butcher (140) Butcher (140) Battleline 6 x Ogors (240) - Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists 6 x Ogors (240) - Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists 3 x Leadbelchers (140) 3 x Leadbelchers (140) 6 x Ironguts (360) Units 60 x Grots (270) 1 x Ironblaster (120) Total: 1950 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 187 In this list I opted out of any allies and doubled down hard on the powerful options already available to the faction. I left 50 points out to get an extra command point for a turn one Tyrant hits the grots and makes them immune to battleshock, then burn another command point if I dont roll a 6 on the grot run to get them right out in front of the army spread out. The slow moving Ogors can move up behind this grot phalanx (which will inevtiably die once sneezed on) until the enemy is within firing range. Their durability will allow the Ogors to hold the objecctives easily against the enemy. Any Gutbusters players reading, definitely comment if I've missed anything. You guys are the real heroes.
  15. It’s been a long time in coming, but another tool is available for list building as the Battlescribe Data files have been updated on May 25th 2018. The appspot Battlescribe catalog files for Age Of Sigmar have been updated to support Matched Play and the GHB 2017 up through Deepkin. So, please try out the new catalog files and let us know any issues!

Mixed Order in my first tournament

Hey all- So I'm finally biting the bullet and doing my first tournament (a one-day in Massachusetts) in July. I know points and things are going to change between now and then, but I wanted to start thinking about a list now as I still have some drybrushing to do and I'd rather start with models I'm bringing. Here is my inventory: Swifthawk Agents: High Warden 10 Reavers Eldritch Council: Archmage 20 Swordmasters Fyreslayers: Runeson on Magmadroth (Wyrmslayer Javelin) Runefather on foot Runesmiter on foot Grimwrath Bezerker 5 Hearthguard Bezerkers (weird flail things I can't remember the name of) 30 Vulkite Bezerkers (picks and shields) Kharadron Overlords: 9 Skywardens (all three units with Volley Guns and Drill Cannon) Aelves: 2 Tenebrael Shard In most games I've been running the following list (my friend and I usually play 1.5k since he doesn't have all his Skryre assembled). Magson (General) High Warden Runesmiter Grimwrath Bezerker 2x5 Reavers 20 Vulkites 2x3 Skywardens 5 Hearthguard Bezerkers Tactic: Magson rushes towards a key objective to support the charge of the tunneled Vulkites. High Warden is a sacrifice piece, jumps onto a vulnerable flank or keystone piece with fire support from Reavers and Skywardens. Grimwrath and his Hearthguard maintain the back line, and Reavers use their insane movement to cover the retreat if the High Warden lasts through the turn and can retreat. Any list advice would be super helpful. Seeing as though I'm not running anything particularly dirty make it as filthy as ya please. Tactics advice also appreciated. If there is one box that I absolutely NEED to unlock some synergy I've yet to see I'd be open to it but I'd prefer to just use what I have since I've still got a box of vulkites and a box of skywardens to build and paint. Thanks for the help, collected denizens of Order.

Help with 1000 point fyreslayers list

Hey everyone, I’m getting back into Sigmar with my fyreslayers and I need help making a decent 1000 point list with the models I have, any help would be appreciated (you can include weapon choices too, I think I have that down but it would be nice to see alternatives). What I have is: - Two start collecting boxes -20 Vulkite berzerkers - 2 runesmiters - 2 runefathers - 2 runesons - 2 magmadroths to put the heroes on - 10 Hearthguard berzerkers - 10 auric hearthguard Thanks for for the help!
  18. I'm working on a Stormcast army, but due to the collection of miniatures I have and how they may end up playing I'm not sure if I should stay pure Stormcast. Here's what I currently have: Lord-Celestant (complete) Lord-Relictor (assembled) 5 Liberators (complete) 3 Retributors (complete) 6 Prosecutors (not assembled) Lord-Castellent (assembled) 6 Gryph-hounds (not assembled) Knight Azyros or Venator (not assembled) Lord-Aquilor (not assembled) Naeve Blacktalon (not assembled) 5 Vanguard-Hunters (assembled) 3 Vanguard-Raptors (not assembled) 3 Aetherwings (not assembled) 3 Vanguard-Palladors (not assembled) The way I currently see it is that I have some very mobile elements with the Palladors. Prosecutors, Aquilor, Blacktalon, and Azyros/Venator. The odd men out are the Liberators and the Retributors and other heroes on foot. This is where I could really use some advice because I'm split between a few options. 1a) Pure SCE classic hammer and anvil - Suck up the lack of a good collected kit and supplement forces with individual boxes of Liberators and Judicators to form an anvil (deployed normally and holds deployment area and nearby objectives) with the Raptors and heroes on foot. Maybe pick up more Paladins so I can Hammerstrike them. 1b) Order classic hammer and anvil - similar to 1a but with something other than SCE to either form the anvil or supplement it. 2a) Pure SCE mobility - Grab more Vanguard-Hunters and have all the other on foot Stormcast deploy lightning teleport. Definitely pick up more Paladins for Hammerstrike. 2b) Order mobility - Supplement Stormcast with fast moving battleline units from other order factions (dryads?) and double down on everything moving fast. Any advice or sharing experiences would be appreciated!

    Tzeetnch Arcanites Changecult

I just ordered the Tzeentch Arcanites Changecult boxed set! I also have Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower board game, so I already have some extra units and Heroes. This will be my 3rd AoS army behind Stormcast Eternals and Blades of Khorne (mostly Bloodbound but with some Daemons) So that breaks down to; 3 heroes: Tzangor Shaman, Ogroid Thaumaturge and Gaunt Summoner 28 Kairic Acolytes, 26 Tzangors, 6 Skyfires, 2 pink Horrors, 4 Blue Horrors and 4 pairs of Brimstone Horrors I also have the Start Collecting Slaves to Darkness Boxed set and some Chaos Marauders I'm considering buying the Tzeentch Start collecting box because that should take me to 2000 points... any thoughts or recommendations?
  20. So I've finally taken the plunge and committed to an army. Slaves to Darkness, naturally. I've played a few games using warriors, knights and some chosen that I aquired a few years ago. Of course I decided to expand my force and bought a pile of plastic crack, I just picked models that I liked the look of. Having very little understanding of the synergies with this faction or potentially competitive builds, I throw myself and my mound of expensive plastic at the feet of those who already walk the Path of Chaos, in hope that I may learn something and build an interesting list. 21. I need help for a Competitve list? any ideas?
  22. Got me a Troll Hag from forge world. Really cool model. However i find it quite hard to fit her in a list (400 points) Anyone got some ideas for a list theres using her? 2000 points and a 1000 point My first idea was a list with them moonclan grots (or Gitmob i just find the other ones better. Don't know if i am right tho) 1000 point (Moonclan) 1x Troll hag 1x Moonclan grot shaman 1x Grot Warboss (squig n' prodder) 40x Moonclan grots (spears n' shield) 20x Moonclan grots (spears n' shield) 3x fanatics Yes i know it is hard to fit her in a 1000 point list however i normaly play 2000 points 2000 point list: 1x Troll hag 2x Moonclan grot Shaman 1x Grot Warboss (squig n' Prodder) 40x Moonclan grots (spears) 40x Moonclan grots (spears) 5x fanatics 3x Fellwater trolls 2x Grot spear Chukka 1x Thundertusk Beastriders Now to be fair i don't know anything about making a competitive list. So again i would like to hear some feedback on the list or if one of you have a better list with this awesome model Have a great day

2k SCE Event List Decision Poll

So I thought it'd be interesting to poll two final list candidates for the next event I am going to! I like the idea of both of these lists for different reasons and think they'll each do a bit better against various kinds of lists. They are not super hard or perfectly sculpted but given the models at hand I think they are decent options. Vote for your own favourite choice! And feel free to leave feedback. Suggested tweaks to each list are welcome (for example I am undecided on 5 decimators v 5 more retributors in list 1 and am not sure about the gryph hound in list 1) but I am pretty satisfied with each! Here are the lists: 1. Single Drop Celestial Vindicators Warrior Chamber List 2. Multi-drop "More Bodies" Thunderhead / Hammerstrike List
  24. Just as the title says, what do people think is generally stronger ~ faction-specific armies, backed up with the special artifacts, traits, and such, from the newer tomes, or taking a general army of the cream of the crop from across the breadth of one of the four Grand Alliances? I've (so far) gravitated towards Grand Alliances over faction specific forces with both Destruction and Order, but now with the new Chaos Battletome coming out, I can't decide whether I want to go faction-specific for my next 3k points, or to stick to my theme of pulling the best from each race.

    2000 Points - Nagash List

So I've been trying to think of a credible Nagash list for a 2000 point game and I'm struggling. I don't think the old Nagash plus Neferata combo is viable any more (without double casting due to the rule of one) and without the summoning pool. Morghasts are 20% more expensive than in SCGT, which is fatal as far as I'm concerned. Thus far, I've though about combining Nagash with a Ghoul Patrol formation, just to get some bodies on the table and allow for an alpha strike to hold up the enemy; and about having a generic hero as General to give Nagash the 5+ ward save. Any ideas welcome.
