The Rumour Thread

Interesting that Horns of Hashut are getting squatted, considering they're a Warcry 2.0 launch warband.

Optimist in me says it could be tied to AoS Chorfs, the cynic in me says they just sold that poorly.

I'm also shocked by this tbh; I was expecting them to stick around and transition to the Chorf book, lol

For those of y'all keeping count, that's *another* GW project of mine that just got transitioned out of the game: my whole Chaos force is Horns of Hashut... Guess I'll need to like double check what I have vs what I was hoping to do...

Oh and I was kitbashing them with the Unmade and Iron Golems so that project is pretty much over long-term; I'll just have to be happy with what I have.

Wild moves from GW. Maybe Horns were just selling that badly, maybe Warcry kits aren't really worth $70 for ten miniatures: I managed to snag most my Horns when they were cheap on eBay

It's quite sad to see quite as many of these models get moved over to Legends (which are still legal until 2025!), but I'll be honest and say I'm surprised that so many stuck around in AoS as they did!  I can remember the discussions on here about expecting ranges like BoC, Orks etc being given the chop years ago.

And I wish that they'd clarify if the warcry bands will remain in production for warcry, or if theyre being removed all together

If I were a betting man I would say that Warcry will have a set number of Warbands for sale at any one time and then do splash release runs of certain bands every so often (like the recent run of Underworld warbands) I can see warbands that fully fit a faction being more integrated into their respective faction.

RIP BoC and Bonesplitters, seemed like there were signs of this coming for a while.

With Savage Orcs not being in the Orcs and Goblins Tribes list (just some optional upgrades to make regular Orcs fill that role) and no word on the miniatures sticking around, I wonder if GW feels they want to step away from that style of Orc mini now.

Early warning of what's going away in 4.0. It's official, Beasts of Chaos and Bonesplitters are off to the great Old World in the sky, at least for competitive play.

And so it is the end of an era of the beast
Really sorry for BoC and Bonesplitters fans.

But also, why are Dispossessed staying? Are they too stubborn to leave before a new Battletome? Are we, cough, getting new Cities/Lumineth style duardin this edition?

I'm glad that GW just says waht will happen, most of the #3rdPurge™ models victims seems to still be valid until summer 2025, that's a good move. There are still a lot of miniatures that still are in the eye of the hurricane, I expect all Despossessed dwarfs to go teh way of the Dodo too.

Go back to their mines to never go out ever again.

That's what makes it so much worse. Rather than getting chopped years ago, they got AoS releases like underworlds warbands, endless spells, a hero, terrain. And then suddenly now is the time to move it all to another game?

Shame to see an entire AoS faction butchered for the sake of a specialist game.

I think you have this completely backwards. BoC weren't given the chop from AoS to service ToW. ToW has picked up what AoS was going to chop anyway.

RIP BoC and Bonesplitters.

To me, Bonesplitters was expected. And also BoC to some extent, although I would've really liked to see something Chaosbeastly replace them.

Seeing the whole Sacrosanct range get removed is a huge surprise to me, considering that they're not that old.
Good to see the bloated stormcast range get reduced, however.

For me the most negative part of this news is what it could mean for Warcry.
Maybe all warcry warbands moving forward will be directly linked to an AoS-faction with inherited specific aesthetics.
Which to me is a bit sad because I liked that Warcry allowed for more creative freedom in the design of warbands.

I just want to state clearly that this move makes me the opposite of angry. Look, I get it, it sucks if you have a particular model, kit or faction you really love and it ends up on the chopping block. However, I think issuing rules at the start of the new edition and having those rules be viable for a full year, then moving them to Legends (after selling and supporting said models for 10/15/20+ years!) is a completely reasonable thing for GW to do.

I'm actually a little disappointed not to see either the Duardin or Dark Elves from the coS range listed.

I echo this sentiment. I'm surprised by some of them on the list (Sacrosanct for instance) and surprised by some not present (Dwarves) - but this forward comms is a great step to better transparency. Hopefully they can improve their comms further by learning the right lessons from this communication piece and not just the outrage they will surely face from some.

Considering that the Underworlds band for Flesh Eaters has dissapeared from the battletome, and that Underworlds bands have been called out getting Legends only next edition, I think that all underworlds and warcry bands will simply be seasonal only. Which is a shame.

Underworlds, maybe you are right. Early Warcry warbands? You could be right also, but late Warcry warbands? I don't think so. Most of them are designed almost as a new unit for their army.

That helps clarify that the WarCry stuff is being removed from sale altogether I guess?

Yeah...looks like it...

Better download those Warcry band rules in the section of Warhammer Community, just in case...

I can’t believe they killed the whole sacrosanct range as well.

This one genuinely surprised me too. Maybe part of it is meant to tighten up and balance the range, and there's still a chance some of them will return as Thunderstrike. Pity though, they were some of my favorite designs.

I'm also sad that the BoC rumors are true. I liked my beastly boys. Still, I have plenty of unopened BoC boxes that I can work on. After all, beastmen are a pretty universal fantasy concept.

I'm also holding out Hope that there will be a Lumineth-style refresh of the BoC concept. The crazy fun chaos things they could do with that!

I severely doubt this. If AoS was going to chop BoC, they wouldn't have had this much narrative importance up until quite recently. They had endless spells and terrain, were featured in an UW starter set, got a new hero.

I'd bet they would easily have stayed in AoS (even if an update to them was going to take a while) if TOW didn't come along to snatch them away. If they get any new models at their TOW re-release, it's quite likely that those were originally made with AoS in mind.
