  1. Fyreslayer range is also 'boosted' to 13 by Gotrek being in the FS category (even though he doesn't have rules in the FS book or any particular synergy with FS). Of the 12 remaining kits, 2 are units, 1 is a hero/behemoth kit, 1 is terrain, 1 is magmic invocations, 1 is a warcry warband and 6 are foot heroes.
  2. I personally expect either all of order or FS/KO/CoS. Can't imagine too much effort will go into the rules since they're being relegated to legends in like 2 months.
  3. Still nice to see it confirmed. I would've not have been surprised if GW did do limited though.
  4. I just saw comment by Warhammer on Youtube confirming that Grombrindal will be a separate purchase, if anyone wanted to know
  5. I think this is a great way of tackling it. With heroes like the Warlock engineer you can now target out protected heroes explicitly, but you can't make a shooting heavy list and just kill all enemy heroes buffing units before those units even come close to combat. It's extremely frustrated to play an army like FS and your heroes positioned carefully to buff your infantry just get sniped out before any of them get a chance to be in combat range. There's just no real counterplay to that besides not bringing any heroes.
  6. This is definitely not the intended way to use it, but it looks like it's possible with how it's currently worded. Which is a shame, because I really like the concise wording of everything we've seen so far for 4th.
  7. Maybe later on they'll release a model for him with normal rules. I can definitely see him working in the Regiment of Renown system along with some KO and FS infantry, if they decide keep that system around for 4th.
  8. I agree that the issue is not an easy one to solve. I'd rather get fewer commemorative models and more models with uses in game. It's very understandable though that people aren't super happy with a great model with quite a bit of lore relevance is going to get Legends rules that are going to be invalid in like 2 months. For many commemorative models and side games rules are not even that difficult. Often it's an alternate sculpt of a hero (in almost all cases so much better that it should really replace the old sculpt), so keep it on sale and the rules are already there. Especially for Underworlds, in most cases it's a named variant of a Hero, so an official 'go ahead' to proxy those for the existing hero would be enough. For Warcry everything is already being integrated into AoS. Then models like Grombrindal are few and far between, Jakkob Bugmansson being the most recent one (Brewmaster General would be a really fun generic KO hero too). Comparable ones are Drekki/Cado, which have a place in an army with fun and thematic rules (even if they're not always the best). Then I think Gotrek is the most comparable, a cross-faction Order hero with some fun but niche uses. Grombrindal is a mini cool enough to keep in production, so with Gotrek-like rules I think he would work very well.
  9. I don't think Legends has an image problem as much as that legends rules aren't maintained. If Grombrindal gets a beautiful 3rd Warscroll with bravery on it, it'll be quite useless as soon as 4th hits. And if they commit to it and continuously update the rules (which they haven't before for Legends rules to my knowledge), why not just keep the model available? It's just one more model to print, they add new heroes to factions all the time.
  10. It will be my second. First the FS issue in 2019, now this for the likely FS lore in it haha
  11. It's a 192 page edition, so there's definitely some more content in there. Most likely some Duardin themed content for AoS as well, and I imagine Grombrindals rules will come with WD500 just like Gotreks warcry rules did.
  12. It is definitely the best way to handle models which won't always be available (otherwise you'd get 'Pay to Win' situations very fast) but I don't think that's the main point people are disappointed about. It's disappointing that Grombrindal has been built up in AoS so much recently (2 White Dwarf short stories series, one of which was novelized with a bigger story alongside it, a new design, a role in Broken Realms, an appearance in a Gotrek book, etc.) and that there's finally an AoS model for him, and then they make it limited edition. They could've easily done something like they did with Gotrek. Multi-faction, still with rules, great model to paint and show off too. But this just goes on the pile of limited one-off models they've released recently. Especially in terms of Duardin models we've had four limited ones in the past couple of years. (Jakkob Bugmansson, Torrk Lenssen, Brakki of the Gilded Key and now Grombrindal) Torrk and Brakki should definitely also be sold as Admiral and Runesmiter respectively, they're much newer designs. That's the same number of limited Duardin models as non-limited ones in the same timespan (3: Auric Flamekeeper, Grimhold Exile, Endrinmaster in Dirigible suit and Drekki Flynt) which is ridiculous and a bit of an insult to Duardin players.
  13. And they should be ignoring TOW for this model, it's supposed to be a celebration of Grombrindal in the Mortal Realms, not in the old world. Every previous 40K Grombrindal anniversary model also did not refer to WFB or AoS. His model looks way too much like the Dispossessed and not enough like FS or KO. I still like the model, but it remains a little disappointing.
  14. I hope the model won't come together with WD500. I want both the model and the WD issue. A limited time period to order the model + WD500 separately makes it much more likely that both will stay in stock long enough to purchase. If they're tied together the magazine is going to be scalped for the model. There's also no way anymore to subscribe to get a guaranteed copy of the issue.
  15. Beard ornaments are exactly the same as FS KO is tools on his belt I think.
