The Rumour Thread

The thing is with how GW stores operate is with games like HH, the Old world is certainly going to be relegated to the specialist game shelves and share the same space with other side games like Middle earth, blood bowl, and Necromunda.

most GW stores (depending on store sizes) run on the same template where they have a 40K side, an AoS side and then a small side for all the GW Specialist and side games release.

I used “shelves” more metaphorically 😄

Anyway, can you imagine the reaction of someone interested in TOW being told that they should move to this other side of the shop and pick AoS kits (but only some of them, the ones that are cross compatible) and a handful of square bases?

GW can use new models, sure - but they should, at the very least, use different boxes (maybe with different numbers of models, but I suppose that would be very difficult). What I find ridiculous is the idea of publishing a miniature tabletop game with its own (strong) brand and then telling people to buy minis for a different game. And I think they went with squares and started with Bretonnia and Tomb Kings to avoid this particular issue- at least for now.

Thinking about miniatures used across different games. I haven't really noticed myself, but in Warhammer stores where are the Chaos Demons? Are they in with 40k or AoS or repeated in both?

Was the Summer King mentioned somewhere in more detail?

Because when I read „Summer King“ & empty settlements on the Hammerhaml Gyhra side, *and* reminded myself that woodelves will not be in the new army book… . I instantly thought of the return of Kurnoth.

He is mentioned with many names in the White Dwarf number 477 from June 2022, one of them being Ushoran the Handsome. Cannot find now the exact text.

Shame. I liked the Idea of Kurnoth coming back sooner rather than later.

But maybe there still is something there. His Shard stalk Ghoul Mere, I think. So maybe… .

Start Collecting: Ironjawz has gone forever.

Vanguard Ironjaws and Seraphon this weekend 👀👀👀

Weird that the Greywater Dwarves and Anvilguard Elves start collecting were sold out and then came back. Maybe GW didn't anticipate the demand for them now the rest is getting sold out

They are in the AoS section since Daemons are boxed with the AoS packaging and logo (and what army they belong to, like blades of khorne or Maggotkin)

even Be’lekor is box for AoS despite him being the model most design for both system.

Too soon for reveals... that's a bummer. I wish I could see what GW's cooking for Warclans wave 2. Obviously, I think betting on the dissapearance of the leftover WFB kits in Ironjawz is a safe bet. I hope there's more around the corner than just new ardboyz and the big pig though.

Is there any evidence or rumors to support said excitement? I know the Maw Grunta but is there any concrete evidence?

Maw Grunta + Monsta Killaz, also the Ironjawz SC going the way of the dodo on the GW webstore and Eddie saying at WHFest "2023 is gonna be a good year for Warclans fans".

The most recent White Dwarf has an in-universe lore article on the nature of the gods, and Kurnoth is mentioned as a notable example of how the gods are killable - but this is used as a lead-in to the very next paragraph, which talks about how a god "dying" is far from a permanent, mortal-style death.

The same issue also has an article from the Warhammer Studio talking about how lore seeds get sown far in advance, and how release dates like "2027" are pretty casually tossed around in the studio right now.

I'm not saying Kurnothi are 100% coming, but I'm absolutely gonna use this as an excuse to go KURNOTHI KURNOTHI KURNOTHI KURNOTHI KURNOTHI KURNOTHI KURNOTHI

What I find ridiculous is GW selling old chaos warriors again, and telling the complete newcomers from your example to buy those old models when they can see perfectly good new ones with the exact same aesthetic being sold for AoS.

Even people with zero experience with Fantasy as a genre, let alone Warhammer, are able to tell they're one and the same thing.

When crucial, indelible parts of that strong IP you mentioned have been transported wholesale to a different setting, I can't see another option that would be not scummy but also not senseless (such as making *another* new kit of chaos warriors just for ToW).

Or delete chaos warriors (and other similar examples) from ether game, which is daft and luckily not going to happen.

So, if we're going by consumer satisfaction (as I previously argued that us non-GW employees should), there's really one good option in such cases.
