The Rumour Thread

Recommended Posts

I was initially dubious of the September steampunk Duardin rumour but if what adhoc says is true(and I think it is) then the 40k stuff will come in August,  leaving a space in September for a big aos release. I imagine the next horus game will follow in October. That would have Tzeentch coming at the end of the year. Sad panda mentioned that this was a possible timeframe for a new Lord of change to come out. Somewhere in the midst of all that bloodbowl will come out.

I wonder if this week's Wd has a hint in it. It is the last weekly white dwarf so it may not.

Just a quick note - Blood Bowl, Adeptus Titanicus etc are all being done by the new Specialist Games studio, so may or may not overlap with main studio productions, so there release windows are a bit less certain.

Anyway, come on September!!!

Just had my stock delivered. It doesn't have a hint but it does have a page about the new WD and some of it's contents.

There's Planet Warhammer, which is the new news section.

A Tale of Four Warlords, which sounds like another Tale of Four Gamers series of articles.

The Free Gift is described as the most spectacular gift ever, which given what it is, i'd have to agree, an £18 miniature is certainly more than they've offered before.

Battle Reports are noted as coming back, the first being Stormcast vs Chaos in a castle.

Subscriptions are £50/US$80 at the moment, with the magazine itself being £5.99/$9 an issue.

Yeah I was momentarily tempted. I just find it hard not spending my money on expanding armies :)

Well if you're not subbing, your FLGS or GW store will be stocking in and would probable appreciate the custom if an issue catches your eye. I would definitely recommend picking up the first issue though.

By the way, I've heard rumour the first FOUR issues will have a free miniature...

I've been told there will be gifts, but i've only had it confirmed that the first one is a miniature. The others could be something different like a supplement, or poster etc.

I've done a quick review of the new 32mm and 25mm Shattered Dominion bases coming out this weekend. In short, the designs are excellent but completely let down by the material it's cast in. It's the same terrible plastic used in the Warhammer 40k bases and things like the Plasma Obliterator.

Lady Atia says a 'new' paint range and hobby supplies range is coming in August.

Not again... I still haven't got over the loss of boltgun metal, the entire foundation range, dark flesh and a couple of the old greys. My fingers are crossed it's just a redesign and a reintroduction of some of the above.

Comic in one, issue 0 of a new series, similar to when warhammer monthly launched a way back.

That's exactly it from what I've heard. Re-organizing the paints, putting back the "direct only" paints like Dark Reaper onto shelves, adding the Edge paints to normal stock etc.

Nothing new, as far as my FLGS has heard. They're  just reorganizing the paint/hobby supplies stuff. New sales rack is coming to retailers that can hold tons more paint (including all the air and other new stuff). Direct only paints are going back into stores.

Could be wrong though, but that's what I heard.

Deathwatch vs Eldar, looks more like a campaign though.

Yup I guess this is a boxed game after all. I'm excited for when they revamp the messy 40K universe, much happier playing AoS.

@FullMetalRPG
Well its easy with your daemon models lol.

I think a reboot would heavily change the culture which is what it really needs. I think they are afraid to lose an important fanbase but with the continued success of AoS, I think a 40k reboot is inevitable. There are a lot of cool 40k models that almost nobody touches because of the state of the rules. I would love to paint a ton of them but its not worth it with the current climate of 40k.

I think some of the best things to take away from aos is all points in one book, adopting the aos waracroll/point system (units are pointed out in groups with weapon loadouts already considered into the points), the rules ground down to the bare essentials (death to the USR!), and a total overhaul of unit rules to tie it all together. I think these things would really help 40k to be more appealing to a wider audience, and it has the potential to allow both games to mix in open play if done right. That seems beneficial to everyone.
