  1. Speaking of warcry warscrolls (for our Warhammer wargame) I definitely like the look of iron golems for holding objectives, cheaper than my chaos warriors and with that nice rerollable save, I can definitely see myself gravitating toward them. I'll admit I'm disappointed with the cypher lord warscrolls as they just don't seem all that useful, the 4+ chance for a -1 to hit is a bit disappointing but as I want them for warcry I'm sure I'll give them a go in AoS and see if they can support some of my other units well. I'm interested to see what the warscrolls for the new bands will be like as all the warcry units seem to be based around some kind of ability to add to your army as opposed to just being beatsticks.
  2. Oh man... now I really want oriental vampires/liche's leading terracotta undead soldiers!!! That would be amazing. Personally I do hope they go oriental themed, would be something very different and super cool for death! Regular boring ol' skeletons would just feel too much like battletome legions of nagash 2: undead boogaloo
  3. I will say though I'm not the most experienced with tzeentch and play in a more casual / casual competitive environment so your mileage may vary but honestly mortal tzeentch is so much fun, and the fact you can dip into the slaves to darkness range is super great. Other cool/fun things from slaves to look into might be: Sorcerer on manticore, lord on manticore, chaos sorcerer (his spell + oracular visions is tasty) also if you can find the ally points / afford the models, varanguard with fellspears make for a really satisfying charger. Just don't do what I did and charge them into 30 bonesplitterz... they will not do well and you will feel very silly about it. However they're great for smashing into big things and small elite units where their rend really matters.] My best advice is to try stuff out and see what you really enjoy.
  4. Okay so I haven't done much tzeentch recently but back in the day I used to like a big blob of tzaangors (probably more useful as multiple 10 or 20 units now) my list I used recently was: -Archaon -Shaman -10 Tzaangors -2x 10 Kairic Acolytes -6 Enlightened Archaon was screened by tzaangors and managed to butcher a lot before he inevitably died (he was mega targeted by most of my opponents army as the big scary) the tzaangor screen was great and basically stopped his charge mortal wounds getting archaon and I then killed them in a way that gave archaon the ability to pile in enough to slayer of kings the stonehorn the tzaangors managed to last long enough to hold up his mournfang till archaon finished with the big boys for a couple turns (This army needs inspiring presence but also doesn't use command points much so you always have some spare for it) This was like 1500 pts though, a bigger game would probably see a warshrine (maybe an unmarked one allied in for the reroll 1's to hit and wound on some of my guys, though rerolling saves for archaon or enlightened could be great) Chaos warriors would be a much better screen than tzaangors as they're a bit more survivable though you do want the screen dead enough that archaon gets to pile in properly. Acolytes really shine in being cheap but I could see masses of them in the shoot twice battalion actually doing alright to add some nice ranged support to tzeentch (though a bit costly for an archaon list where you have less space so need more hard hitters) The idea behind fold reality is if the enlightened drop to 1 model they won't be doing all that much so if they die, meh but being able to bring back up to 5 more 4 wound models is a really worth the risk of losing that last one. But if you want to go mortal heavy then my view on the possible units is as follows: -Chaos warriors - objective holders -Tzaangors & chaos knights - damage dealers (also the disk tzaangors can grab lone objectives last turn too thanks to their obscene movement especially if you pay a command point for the insta 6 run) -Acolytes - Cheap battleline tax/fodder/ranged support Mortals do get some nice wizards too: Curseling for anti magic, magister for a cheap spellcaster, shaman to buff ALL the tzaangors, Ogroid to punch people who say magic is for cowards and although he's a demon the gaunt summoner is worth a mention for his horde clearing spell. A big thing strategy wise for tzeentch is learning WHEN to use destiny dice, and trying to have ways to replenish them. Your biggest weakness is low saves and bravery.
  5. Archaon will eat up a chunk of your points! But he can be pretty great. So I tried him out in tzeentch recently and gave him the spell that grants the caster rerolls of 1 to hit and wound and had a tzaangor shaman (with the magical supremacy trait to give him bonus spells) use the spell to once per game grant him an extra attack on his slayer of kings (I was fighting beastclaw so wanted as many potential insta deaths as possible) Once you start adding the buffs onto him he can get really good, especially with destiny dice to make sure slayer of kings goes off. Kairic acolytes are good for a cheap battleline and can throw out ranged shots which won't necessarily kill anything but hey it's better than nothing and they will get out a couple of wounds, though they will die like wet tissue paper when charged. Tzaangors are more expensive but can really pack a punch! The thing about tzeentch is we don't have as much staying power so looking at chaos warriors from slaves to darkness (mark of tzeentch lets them be included as normal) for a tough objective holder could be a good shout. Enlightened are definitely a great unit and giving them a shaman to accompany them with fold reality can be a good shout. I personally don't take many demons but I can definitely see them being useful and you may want them anyway for fate points though if hero light you probably won't be building up too many fate points each turn especially with archaon taking so many points.
  6. Battletome: Accountants I mean they're collecting tithes and stuff right?
  7. I'm really torn because I really like a lot of them! I can really see some of them being great conversion bait for mordheim and D&D too!
  8. I've never found him to be too beaty unfortunately. If you can find points then the ogroid may give you more bang for your buck in being beaty and casty. Otherwise a tzeentch marked daemon prince could work, though depends if you want explicity arcanite units.
  9. Morning all! I have been considering beastclaws as a potential new army (Because destruction is the only grand alliance I don't currently have anything from!) Whilst I know they are long due for an update I'd love for anyone to give any good pointers toward a good way to start collecting them. I'd presume the start collecting box would do them well? And is it better/more fun to go pure monster mash or do their yhetees, cats and cavalry do them well?
  10. "Do you even lift-carry man-thing?" I'm really looking forward to seeing these BUFF skaven painted up (I also now want to see the JoJo's pillar men with skaven heads after this...)
  11. You've definitely got good number and the enlightened with shaman will do you well but you may crumple a bit if you get hit by something hard though 40 man units along with destiny dice or command points for ignoring battleshock will go a long way to help keep those big units around long enough to tarpit your foes. Do you get much use out of the fatemaster yourself? I've never found him to be all that useful besides his high movement.
  12. I do think it's a darkoath/everchosen rumor engine. Though undead would work really well too. I don't think its destruction because I don't feel they'd really make the distinction to carry trophies of kings since they live to just smash up anything and everything, human kings wouldn't mean much to them unless they were good fights.
  13. The current wip of my daemon princess from the realm of fire. The 'branches' will be painted up like flames as will the wings and ravens.
  14. Don't tempt me with that keeper of secrets man 😧
  15. Ahh yes, that is certainly a big offset for getting 2 of them I need to use my current one more though, might get to this weekend. I will say though it's low price was a really big draw for it as it looks absolutely gorgeous. I will also say I'm struggling to decide what to get next when I visit Warhammer world in august. I'm thinking something for my chaos but I'm not all that enthralled by a lot of the remaining stuff as I already have skin wolves, sayl and the dragon. Maybe the manaan's blades for my freeguild 🤷‍♀️. Chaos dwarves would be an interesting possibility though, since everchosen now just have 'chaos' as allies I could slot in 20 ironsword and 20 fireglaives into a list with archy.
  16. Well he works in a 2k game as that's 400 allies. But yeah I'm usually full on allies with my varanguard :(
  17. @Overread it's because he's unfortunately just not all that good :( but I love him anyway... I still need to do his wings (I don't like painting wings) and I want a second one to paint like a dragon age archdemon but have literally no use for a second since he rarely sees play :(
  18. I'll try and post up my WiP warpfire dragon, ironside handgunners and skin wolves when I get home!
  19. Hi Guys! So part of me is considering picking up the forgeworld blackshard warhost since it's quite a nice savings and using them either as allies to my everchosen for some cool looking bodies to grab objectives and because COOL GUNS! Or to use within grand alliance chaos to march alongside my other chaotic goons. Their units seem fairly nice for their points cost but I was wondering what people think of them alongside other chaos armies, can they pull their own weight in a more casual / casual-competitive setting or do they rely too much on their allegiance abilities? I'm trying to get a general idea of all the forgeworld chaos stuff to see what would make nice little slot-ins to my mixed forces so any help would be appreciated.
  20. So I have my annual trip to Warhammer world next month for some games. I like to pick something up from forgeworld when I'm there usually and wondered how well (if at all) the tamurkhan units perform in more casual / casual-competitive play. Looking at the warscrolls unfortunately none of them jump out too hugely as great picks but I totally may be missing something or not considering some cool uses for them. I'm considering Tamukhan himself but he's also a rather pricey boi.
  21. Hi Jack, I'm afraid I can only answer a couple of these as I've never used the gaunt summoners within my everchosen. 1) I do believe his command ability explicitly states that it's command abilities found on the units warscroll. 3) Personally my suggestion is all fellspears, you want to be charging with them and the amount of damage fellspears can put out (especially if getting hit & wound rerolls or bonuses e.g. archaon being present and then using an unmarked shrine prayer to reroll 1's for hits and wounds, or a bloodstoker whip for reroll wounds) fellspears really will hit hard and nasty with their higher damage and superior rend. If you do want to mix then maybe 2 spears and 1 ensorcelled? But spears are very tasty, especially if you can get extra attacks on the squad (e.g. bloodsecrator) Hope this helps!
  22. Looks like the teasers for them have been released already On a serious note it definitely looks like it could be something mount or monster like. The gem does scream aelf/eldar to me though.
  23. Yes, I would... if I had 10 grail knight models The moment I can source some suitable representations it will be saying goodbye to 8 of those knights of the realm and hello to another 5 grail knights and an endless spell or two.
  24. Vampires.... Vampires who are heavy cavalry.... Vampires who are heavy cavalry and function really well as heavy cavalry should....
  25. I'm looking at this potential army utilising the fun of mercenaries: Heroes: King on hyppogryph - 400 Enchantress - 160 Units: 16x Men at arms - 120 -- Battleline 16x Knights of the Realm - 440 -- Battleline 30x Freeguild Archers - 300 -- Battleline 5x Grail Knights - 180 10x Blood Knights - 400 -- Mercenaries 2000/2000 Allies: 400/400
