I wouldn't count on Harbringers having anything related to Cities (apart from maybe some new lore/mentions/descriptions of new units), thus I don't think GW need to reveal anything before it comes out (probably just before Leviathan based them saying it's coming in a couple of weeks).

My lore theory for Harbringers (made to try and make sense of them not focusing on the bulk of the Crusades, i.e.: Cities for the first book) is that it's a bit of a prequel/quite before the storm type of book: we see the crusade's first battles (spearheaded by Fyreslayer mercenaries?), and it probably ends with the foundations being laid for the two new Strongpoints in Ghyran and Aqshy by an advance, more "elite" force (Fyreslayers, Stormcast, etc.), paving the way for the Cities force to show up in the rest of the books.

wait I thought the whole campaign series was called Harbingers 😅 is it only the first book?? The reveal made it sound like this campaign needed to come out alongside the Cities revamp (whether before/after/during kit launches) because GW couldn't launch this campaign without the faction it centers. i.e Cities

Campaign's called Dawnbringers, and the first (out of at least 4) book's title is Harbringers 😛
And yeah, they said they couldn't release this without Cities coming out. Seems like they just aren't important to the first book somehow.

The weird thing with this release is we're as in the dark and speculating as much about what old stuff won't be in the new book as what new stuff there will be.

I suspect we'll not find out about what's removed until the books are reviewed on pre-order day. (or if someone leaks the contents page before)

I don't think there's anything on the schedule currently. But I wouldn't be surprised if there was one on whatever Saturday Leviathan goes on preorder. At some point they have to show us the rest of the new nids and whatever other space marines they're launching with. And I think they did that with a preorder reveal show for indomitus.

Kansas City open tournament is June 2-4th. So maybe there will be a preview show at that? Otherwise I think we're waiting till ATC which is the end of July.

Looking at the images shown (yet again), I think I remarked something that I didn't see discussed here. It looks like the new CoS kits will come with a lot of varied decals. The studio minis show a lot of them.

That's an underrated way through which GW can add character to the range. And I expect quite the big decal sheets in the individual kits.

so with today's article we have some extra confirmation that ALL kinds of people take the Coin Malleus (and not "only criminals" like part of the voiceover for Harbingers implied)

Freeguild Marshal and Relic Envoy!

They also mention a command structure like how the Imperial Guard operate? Hoping that means there's fancy steampunk/magitech guns and artillery in this wave and not just the weird flintlocks already shown off.

Yeah, I think that's especially apparent with the Cavaliers' heraldry.

I'm just expecting a Handgunner squad and a Bombard. Of course, a Border Walker or small Cogfort would be a welcome surprise!

Also, speaking of command structure, are we thinking that this is the new General equivalent, or that the Marshal is a lower/higher rank?
I personally think we'll still get a higher ranking officer on mount with named character option (or maybe a "Freeguild Marshal on Demigryph/Horse?").

feels like Marshal should be the military leader of a Dawnbringer Crusade? possibly even a Cities garrison itself?? I think a mounted version is more likely than a higher ranking officer--unless we get someone named!

Excuse the self-indulgent post, but one reason why I am really happy with these new minis is that I can easily imagine them in my faction colour scheme, alongside other models from my collection:

I think those minis are a good sign for established Cities players that the update might actually expand, not simply replace, their existing army.

The new miniatures are nice,i hope we'll get something like a sort of command squad of 40k imperial guard with various specialists(bannerman, commander, priest, battlemage and so on).
I think gw will use the 40k guard as a "blueprint" for the new cities or at least the marshal gives me that idea(they mention "orders"?).

How do command squads work in 40k?

In any case, I thought the Relic Envoy was probably just basically a Stabgrot for the Cities Killaboss.

That would be awesome and it will open a lot of gameplay potential!

I mean if we really are getting cities ogors, the imperial guard as a blueprint makes sense to an extent. Outside of tanks really, but I guess if they give us a new steamtank we'd have our Leman russ equivalent.

Marshall (Company Commander)

Infantry squad (platoon)

New cannon (Heavy Weapons team)

Knights (rough Riders)

Ogors (ogryn)

Chicken walker? (sentinel)

Gyrocopter/bomer (Valkyrie)

Steam tank (Leman Russ)

This actually works better than I thought.

I got the same feeling, and it definitely makes sense

Looking at the Marshal variants again...

Could the yellow ones be showing us our first glimpse of the Greywater colour scheme?

The other ones imo clearly look to be from Hammerhal Aqshy, with the red and orange colours and iconography on the shield, but these guys are different. Their outfits themselves have the signature "vibrant industrial yellow", and cogwheel-like black pattern, with the Marshal's cape looking more like a water resistant poncho than a general's regal robe. And of course, he has two pistols, blackpowder weaponry being the specialty of the Fastness. Their basing (more visible in the reveal video) also looks more "swampy", with yellowish grass and mossy looking ground.

If this is the "new" Greywater scheme (yellow and black), I might even reconsider my move away from the city for army theming (and if we get ample amounts of guns and artillery 😛)

Am I just being too hopeful or does any else see this in them?

huh, I always figured that scheme would have grey as a main color but yellow still matches with it and is a better cloth color. the fact that those were clearly lined with cogs, while the red cloth is sort-of flames? I think you cracked it

Isn't the existing Greywater scheme yellow and black? Or is it technically yellow and dark grey? Either way, adding the cogs probably makes this the new greywater scheme. I feel like GW likes to add cogs to any faction that supposed to be associated with mechanical things or industry.

Current scheme is yellow and bluish green with red accents.

I adore these new fellas!

But I don't know how I feel about a cities color scheme change... I have an entire Greywater Fastness army painted in Incubi Darkness and Averland Sunset (bluish green + yellow). I would be pretty upset, if this isn't the 'official' palette anymore.

Nonetheless Yellow + Grey make sense – Greywater handgunners are called "greycaps" iirc – and the cogwheel-like pattern too.

I am already preparing myself to add an explanation that there was an organisational reform that changed uniforms and command structure, but is still in progress to my headcanon. Need to justify where all the feathered hats, puffy sleeves and codpieces went.
