The advantage of Sons of Behemat is that they can basically just release a single new Megagargant kit with 3 new build options and practically double the size of the range instantly, I believe that was kinda how the equivalent big robot faction in 40k was released, a single kit with a few weapon options first, and then a later release adding another type of robot or two with different options.  It'd be a big kit (and therefore mold) but presumably still a lesser investment for GW than a multi-kit release or full range refresh for another faction, so I wouldn't be surprised to see SoB come up for an update sooner rather than later.

That's a very good point mate!! SOB were definitely meant to be released April 2020 so we are very close to 2 years since their original launch. If we were to get another kit I'd wager 2023 so that would be 2-3 years since the SOB official launch in October 2020.

Another Mega Gargant kit with 3 more build options would absolutely blow my mind!! My brain immediately goes to Cheiftan, Shaman and Ranged build options with an option to build the next true World Titan...KING BRODD!!

Since we like speculating on random new armies aos could have.

Idoneth book has a new race mention, called Abholons or something. Basically psychic horrors from the deep sea with nasty tentacles and things (imagining Deep Ones / Mindflayer type things).

They are mentioned on multiple occasions throughout the tome.

Deepkin had a huge war with them and apparently wiped them out. They are totally new to the lore in 3.0 so possibly could be a thing for a new army one day?

Also some stuff about the Deepkin trying to work out how to resurrect the Cythai souls they got. Could be something for 4.0 in 3 to 4 years time or a new kit for the end of 3.0 like how we got Belakor, Kroak, Warsong and Slaanesh named characters at the end of 2.0.

Obviously these are both kinda thin and far off, but thought they'd be of interest to people who don't necessarily read the fluff in every book.

I’ve always wanted to see a deep one’s army that has fish people/Lovecraft-themed units. Or big shark people, like the ones mentioned in the Old World.

Abholons, eh? I guess we need something to speculate wildly about once Silent People are revealed in all their glory!

*Shameless plug*  😅

Would love to be able to play these guys as some scary Lovecraftian-themed faction in the distant future! (Until then, Idoneth and/or Cities will do.)

Thanks for this mate!! I agree it seems as though the Cythai Souls are being set up for the next Narrative event or 4.0. Hopefully some awesome new models are coming your way!!

I guess also don’t expect anything big tomorrow either given they said reveals and not models lol

Yeah last time they said reveals they showed off the Tyranid Codex and Combat Patrol boxed set.

I'm not surprised they're not doing reveals and honestly am sort of glad. Adepticon is just over a week away and unveiling anything beforehand would lessen the experience. I've no doubt next Monday will be the same.

Given this year is definitely shaping up to be quiet for AOS, barring faint Skeletor noises from Nagash with that battlebox. So we know DoK and NH are on the horizon...

I'd put good money that the rumoured 30k boxset is revealed, especially with the HH characters being released. I do hope AOS gets some spotlight- just something to be excited for if not for myself, then for other players. Fingers crossed for some Ogor goodness (this is supposed to be Destruction's time in the sun)

I agree on Destruction mate. It's supposed to be Era of the Beast and Destruction on the rise and so far not much has gone on besides the Kruelboyz creeping out of the swamp (Which are incredible).

Which is why if 2022 is going to be single model releases I dont want Mawtribes this year. I want a massive refresh and update for them!! They have some of the oldest kits in AOS and besides Underworlds have literally only had 1 new model for AOS which is the Tyrant*.

I'm hoping for something significant for Mawtribes as Gloomspite had their relaunch in 2019, Warclans had their update last year and the Sons I'm not expecting anything from till next Edition so that leaves Mawtribes as one of 3.0s massive relaunches!!

*And the Mawpot but that was Terrain.

To officiate this as a speculative force... Abholon Soup!

But in all seriousness that is amazing lore. Idoneth undoubtedly have my favourite lore in AOS. My family are from the East Coast of Canada, and the type of tales I heard growing up remind me of the myths of the Idoneth. I even bought the battleforce but I knew I could never really capture the vision I had for the army I traded them for Ogors. It was a good trade for me as they are more in my hobby wheelhouse and I got 2000 points worth of BCR. Still I wish I could have pulled off my Idoneth goals.

Lame I'm surprised Arena of Shades isn't up for pre-order next week after they did an article about it this past week.

Fury of the Deep had two preview articles before it went up for pre-order. One was December 27th, and the other was January 7th; it then went on pre-order on January 9th. Based on that, I'd expect one more article before the pre-order for Arena of Shades.

Yeah I totally agree- outside of a core unit overhaul, it's most of the hero/specialist units and much of the BCR side of things. It might be 2023 that we'd see any revamp of destruction armies. The mawpot without plastic butcher was an odd choice, but I suppose given both the pandemic and other factions, it wasn't feasible.

I just want some AoS destruction rumours!

I think this is a fun conversation. I want to expand upon a post i made a while back.

I am wondering how much GW will stick to the races of Ghur going forward. Pulled this bit from a wiki, dont know how accurate this is (its missing Silent People for one). While we just started this edition the first thing i notice is that a few races have already been covered. Soulblight Avengorii also just got updated with Lauka Vai. Does this mean a possible new race or model update could be among these races? Another thing that jumps at me are that most of these are rumoured for updates. Shaggoths could be in a rumoured StD update and fit the monster theme. Ogors/ Skaven are also in this list. Could be going crazy but i think i'm onto something here. I dont think the Worm-riders will be a thing because of Dune copyright battles. But if they decide to do the Worm thing they can have all my money. Any thoughts?

Ghur Inhabitants

Aelves:
Dhom-hain enclave of the Idoneth Deepkin

Ionrach enclave of the Idoneth Deepkin

Various Scourge Privateers fleets can be found in the Realm.

Duardin:
Lofnir Lodge: Fyreslayers with large numbers of magmadroth's and who are often paid to march to war alongside the Ogor clans of the realm.

Gargants

Great Worms

Grots

Humans:
Vurm-tai nomads: The worm-riders, horse clans of the Amber Steppes who took to following the migration routes of the Great Worms and picking over what was left in their wake, or simply raiding the caravans that traveled to and from the worm-cities.

Hunter-tribes of the Great Coil: Hunters who move vast haunches of meat thanks to Trade Pioneers.

Treestriders of the Gnarlwood: Tribesfolk who reside in a deadly forest of groping vines, hunting strange species and gathering medicinal herbs.

Ogors

Orruks

Sankrit: A reptilian race with a small empire at the northern edge of the Sea of Bones.

Skaven:
Clan Rhukrit: They sweep across the Ravenous Plains with swarms of attack vehicles, followed by crawlburrows.

Sunwyrm

Shaggoth

Soulblight Vampires:
The Avengorii: A dynasty that dwells in the Sascathran Dunes.

Sylvaneth:
The Aerchhoi: Bitter and dangerous, they inhabit the Druichan Forest near the city of Izalend.

Lets look at these races again with the new information we have.
1. Magmadroth lists became a thing and the also mention OGORS.
2. Shaggoth rumour engine?.
3. Skaven and Sylvaneth rumour by Whitefang.
It seems like GW is following the list of Ghur races at the moment. Could a new army or race be one of these listed here?

Scourge Privateers
Great Worms
Vurm-tai nomads
Hunter-tribes of the Great Coil
Treestriders of the Gnarlwood
Sankrit
Sunwyrm

Edit: 4. Treestriders of the Gnarlwood: Tribesfolk who reside in a deadly forest of groping vines, hunting strange species and gathering medicinal herbs.
This also looks like it could be one of these.

2021-05-11.jpg2021-07-20.jpg

Edit2 : Aetar could also be a thing this edition.

There was a Rumour from a few months back that Ogors would only be receiving a new Plastic Butcher as an update which if true would leave me dissapointed as there is so much more that needs updating, even just to plastic from resin!!

I just realize after all these year they did absolute nothing in the movies other then almost found Frodo and Sam

I absolutely love Peter Jacksons trilogy, they are easily in my top films of all time and dont even get me started on the Extended Editions but the lack of Easterlings is sad. Granted there are some shots of them in Minas Tirith as well!!

I thought that was a new Cities of Sigmar model at first glance and now I feel sad.

At least it could be a fun base for a Hurricanum in a Cathay homebrew city.

That'd be pretty cool honestly, though I see the palanquin of a Hedonites Pretender in it's future (if I ever buy it).

That's honestly the main reason I'm excited about The Old World, various new sources for Cities of Sigmar models to increase variety
