  1. I think there's also probably an optimal build of this that doesn't skew as far as possible. That's more resilient when people do have some of the yadda yadda stuff but still dominates when they don't. I'm not good enough at list building to know what that will be, but I know that usually the best synergy builds are the ones that only go far enough to get the advantage without opening oneself up to hard counters any more than is absolutely necessary. There's probably some way to reduce the vulnerability of the combo even further without diluting it too far.
  2. Do you mean things like this: Page 137 – Freeguild General on Griffon, Rousing Battle Cry Add: ‘The same unit cannot be picked to benefit from this command ability more than once in the same phase.’ I wonder if Vandas Hammerhand's ability that effects everyone will be limited like that. The Orruk Megaboss has a similar ability to add to the attacks value and it made it through the FAQ for the Ironjaws battletome unscathed.
  3. As a Hammers of Sigmar player, I totally agree. This is a pretty silly thing to do. I'm not getting them because their models are just not as cool as some of the earlier stuff. The face on that flying thing is just strange. There are all sorts of interesting knight and lord models I don't have yet and the starter set stormcast wizards seem sufficient without these ones. And with the Allies rules in matched play and their extension in a different form to Open and Narrative play, I have so many other Order wizards to choose from in every way to play. Maybe with these characters being ones that appear in the stories like the short stories in the rulebook and glymmforge books as well as the soul wars novel, that people will want them for narrative reasons? Still can't see that as a reason to make their abilities Hammers of Sigmar only. Why not have the players be able to decide to have a Hallowed Knights equivalent? I highly doubt combining these abilities with those of the battallion abilities of any other stormhost that might have some is really going to break anything.
  4. This has an mp3 link for those who want it: http://legendsofthepaintymen.libsyn.com/
  5. I do both. The sculpting style of Age of Sigmar stuff keeps me coming back though. Nice deep details and animated proportions and I find I keep choosing warhammer stuff over historicals in the same plastic. That said, I am going to be starting an all metal historical project shortly. It'll still be cheaper than the same number of warhammer miniatures!
  6. I did this as well. I did WW2 and Greeks vs Persians. So cheap and great gaming. People often don't value free rules so the ones that people like enough to talk about and play are usually quite good. It's the same for the AoS fan content. I find I don't have to watch every little project. The stuff that's truly worth paying attention to will get mentioned and talked about in podcasts, on blogs, in forum posts and so on. I know GW has lots going on in terms of their development schedule, but hopefully more armies get the Legends treatment. I had totally forgotten about some of those dark elf models. Maybe it'll help some people rediscover some cool models and realise the stuff going for really cheap in the secondary market might be worth paying attention to.
  7. Seems like a game theory approach aggregating to bite everyone in the ass. No one can afford to "waste" money on a suboptimal unit so the average level of competition goes up which means cheaper starter and start collecting models are no longer viable, so then the average cost of an army goes up for everyone.
  8. Like the text on the scroll. Nice effect.
  9. This is one of the reasons I think being overly focused on being competitive can shrink one's gaming experience. If people make lists with less of an eye to always have the strongest stuff then more warscrolls in a given battle tome are viable for the table top. I know when I pick units the first thing I do is look at painted examples of the miniatures, then look at pictures of the sprues, then I'll read the fictional entry for the unit in the battletome. Then I'll check to warscroll to make sure the cool or more important thing about them is actually reflected in the rules. I guess they'll have a points cost, but I can look that up later if I need to. The idea of only using a subset of scenario material, a subset of available units, a subset of artefacts/command abilities sounds like a really bad trade off for the sake of trying to win more.

    That's really impressive.
  11. Grim looking fellows! Loved the whole set of photos.
  12. Got the Storm of Sigmar set as a basis for some skirmish gaming. Got the stormcast painted up and have been playing them in a skirmish campaign Contemplating whether I should edge highlight the metal a brighter colour or not.

    The cursed sheep

Is that a mutation or a parasite? The answer to that is troubling either way.
  16. http://ageofsigmar.wikia.com/wiki/Ages Basically if you just explore around that wiki for a while, you'll get a good idea. Though I think this other wiki has a better Stormcast section: http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Stormcast_Eternals
  17. They're really coming together. I finally got a Stormcast done for Aos28. I hoping it's enough of a departure from the bright and shiny heroic take on Simarites for AoS28 given it's not modified at all. I can't find my agrellan earth so I will be delayed in my basing.
  18. I look forward to testing them out. Gaming buddies and myself have started using the skirmish booklet with both Age of Sigmar and the new 40k so we've been collecting fan made supplements to try out.
  19. Hey creepy eye! I really like the bow. That turned out great in constrast with the large amount of black on the model.
  20. Nurgle really does bring happiness to all his followers.
  21. Played another game with the salamander. Took a few axes to the face and died. Yeah, it can sniper heroes, but it's very vulnerable to infantry.
  22. The Latveria Warrior Chamber? Looks great!
  23. Then I say include everything and if @Rafal Maj wants to, he can put a note in about how it's the player's responsibility to figure out if any of these broderline artillery units needs to be either toned down or excluded.
  24. Are there any other artillery-like units in any of the other factions? Despite painting up a salamander just for skirmish gaming, I totally see the merit of leaving them out. Certainly only include them if there is some sort of note or warning. Or perhaps a separate section/page along with anything else from other factions that's in this same strange situation of being artillery-like or dishing out tons of easy mortal wounds or whatever.
