  1. The larger the unit is, the smaller the advantage of spears is. The only advantage spears offer is that if you can get only 1-2 Gitz in base to base with your foe, then spears will get you more attacks than Stabbas. But to be honest, in this case you will cause so few wounds it doesn´t really matter. In all other cases you will get almost as many hits with both options: Stabbas in two ranks will give you the same number of hits as Spears in 3 ranks. Yes, that´s why Stabbas are better. But if you do the math, the damage output of a 40 Gitz Stabba unit is nothing to write home about. You´ll most likely get something around 14-15 hits due to model positioning, equaling in 2,5 mortal wounds and 10 Rend "-" hits. Against 4+ save that´s roughly 7 wounds... Interesting thing is that snufflers are almost as good as the Loonboss´ command ability when it comes down to inflicted wounds. And the lower the opponents save is, the more advantageous snufflers are.
  2. Hi all, which bands (well, cards that are shipped with the bands of course) are recommended if I like to get the most out of my Chaosen Axes? In addition, what are the basic startegies that work well with the Chosen Axes. Sorry if my questions sound dump, but I´m extremely new to the game, just finished painting my warband and now I wait for the first match...
  3. The thing is: 30 Plaguebearers are really hard to remove and well worth the 320 points. But compare 10 Plaguebearers to 5 Blightkings. There is no competition, Blightkings are better in every single aspect and only 40 pts more expensive. Plaguedrones with GUO's command ability and a Daemon hero nearby are able to bring the hurt, but I doubt that 3 will be enough.
  4. 10 men units melt away like butter in the sun. You won't be able to get anything worthy out of your battalion's healing. In addition I feel that you severly lack damage output. Played against some Tzeentch Daemons a couple weeks back and they drowned me in Horrors. Couldn't reach their highly mobile heroes, which is another drawback of your list.
  5. That´s the reason why I´ve refused to collect them. Second reason is that I would like to field an army mixed of Fyreslayers and Sylvaneth (love them both due to the look of the models) but I simply can´t find a nice list...
  6. I´m running a unit of 10 Chaoshounds in my 1k list just to - get some screen against alpha strikes - beef up my numbers - get a fast moving unit I think they work fairly well!
  7. Bloab isn´t that shabby compared to Sorcerer Lord on Manticore which a lot of people rate to be high tier. I´d say that out of the three he is the most versatile. If you´re a fan of Nurglings like me, well then you have to go a different route...
  8. I´d run 10 Plaguebearers, 10 Plagebeaers, 30 Plaguebearers, 30 Bestigors instead for exactly 2000 points. From his Twitter account it seems to be that he played against Nagash at least once... (https://twitter.com/TerryPike84) Well, I think that´s a viable strategy too, though you can be easily locked down in your deployment zone by some alpha striking lists... As you can see on AoSshorts, Terry gained a total gaming score of 30, which is equal to 4 other players. He just has lowest tiebreaker which still brings him Top 7. Hihi, Top 7 with a Nurgle army...
  9. That´s not true: 1. Thricefold + Blight Cyst = 1140 + 840 = 1980 including Rotigus, 2 GUO, Thricefold Battalion, LoBlights, 3 min units of Blightkings 2. Thricefold + min battleline + Sorcerer + 6 Drones: 1140 (Thricefold Battalion) + 270 (3x 5 Chaos Warriors) + 120 (Sorcerer) + 400 (6 Drones) = 1930 3. Thricefold (1140) + Glottkin + 20 Marauders + 20 Marauders + 40 Marauders = 2000 exactly I like the third one, but I refuse to collect 80 Marauders because (1) they look dull and (2) I don´t like to be a mainstreamer. Second one (at least something similar) had a good showing on a tournament this summer (forgot specifics). List was Thricefold + 3x 10 Plaguebearers + 6 Drones if I remember correctly (though this comes out to 1900 exactly). First one I own the models for, but IMO it has too less of a board presence. Maybe I´d rather go Thricefold (1140) + 10 Blightkings + 5 Blightkings + 5 Blightkings + Gutrot Spume (780 for the whole Blightkings) = 1920 But this list does not have any synergies what so ever, the command ability on the GUO ist wasted. Because I´m still painting my Thricefold I can only tell about smaller games (Thricefold not included, but up to 2 GUOs). The thing I most like is that 30 Plaguebearers squad that is hard to remove and that is able to hold the board center just fine. Things I´m looking for is some hard hitting, fast moving unit to complement the Thricefold + 30 Plaguebearers + additional battleline. Coudn´t find anything suitable right now.
  10. I´d rather drop the 10 men unit of Blightkings down to 5 to get access to Gutrot Spume. That way (well, you should consider the bell on GUO) you gain better movement. The drones are almost the only unit worth the GUOs command ability, therefore I´d keep them 6 strong
  11. What about Beasts of Nurgle? Does anybody use them? Any experience? To me they look rather underwhelming. Can´s see why I should run 2 Beasts instead of 3 Plague Drones (both are 200 points). Well, there is ONE REASON: Beasts are easier to transport...
  12. What about a unit of 10 Chaos Hounds then? Larger screen, faster,...
  13. I second that statement. IMO Skyfires are now a pretty decent tactical unit instead of a nuclear nuke they formerly were. Without any ranged game on your side, your opponent is free to move his weak buffing characters.
  14. Nice call! I´m thinking about painting a 1000 points list based on "monsters of Khorne" (essentially flesh hounds, chaos spawns, Khorgoraths, an allied Cygor, all led by a mighty lord of Khorne ans a Bloodstoker or two) and this model would fit the bill. But... do you even think it´s worth it? EDIT: Something like this: Allegiance: Khorne Leaders Mighty Lord Of Khorne (120) Bloodstoker (80) Bloodsecrator (140) Battleline 5 x Flesh Hounds (100) 5 x Flesh Hounds (100) Units 2 x Khorgoraths (180) 2 x Chaos Spawn (100) Behemoths Slaughterbrute (170) Total: 990 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 74 => Lots of attacks, lots of dispel, but low on bodies...
  15. Yeeessss! I'm just glueing my third one. Rotigus and first GUO already painted. Will run Thricefold Befoulment for the next couple of months, though I think that they work better in 40k.
  16. Anywhere on this forums I read about a Nurgle Demon army consisting of Rotigus 2x GUO - thrifold befoulment battalion 3x 10 Plaguebearers rest of points in one unit of Drones did a good showing at some tournament. Do not know any specifics. I think (and this is all theory because I´m still painting my army) the key components of some Nurgle Daemon lists are GUO with bell to enhance the speed. Give him that comand trait that allows to choose the effect on the Nurgle wheel once per game. If you start, you can almost alpha strike if you use all your movement enhancing abilities. 30 Plaguebearers because they are hard to remove. Plague Drones as your heavy hitters. Work well as targets for GUOs command ability. Nurglings if you like to get as many contagion points as possible, because they can be deployed anywhere in your opponents half of the board. As 1000k starter maybe GUO 2x 10 Plaguebearers 6 Drones?
  17. I love that box set. Did so many conversions based on these sprues. Really, you should get a box and just use it as a bits box.
  18. Was possible since the big faq / big errata this summer. If I remember correctly, you now roll individually per spawn instead of 1 roll for all spawns when determining the number of attacks.
  19. What is the condition? The Tzaangor Shaman being the general?
