  1. I would love to, but hesitated to sign up as I’ve read no AoS novels, only fluff pieces/short stories in the army and rule books. Have been a warhammer fan for decades, though. If that’s okay, I’ll sign up.
  2. After reading ‘Blood in the water’ it got me even more excited about my Anvilgard corsairs, and adding Freeguild to it. I have a pack of Pistoleers I had intended to convert into Imperial Guard Roughriders for 40k but they’ll do far more good in the name of Anvilgard. The Honour & Glory section’s entry on Anvilgard: The battle of Blista Bakk makes me want to make a board (or at least some terrain to represent) of the floating Orc pirate city, to replay the battle. That plus the city page is all we got, but I loved what we got.
  3. I haven’t looked at the drake ones but the scourgerunners get you some good, mobile shooting for -I think- a reasonable price.👍
  4. Threads have sprung up for the other Cities of Sigmar so I thought it appropriate to start one for Anvilgard. Having invested recently in a fair few Scourge Privateers minis I’m going Anvilgard (and am keen to add non-Corsair stuff soon) but, being relatively new to AoS I’m keen to hear the counsel of wiser, more experienced gamers. How do we make Anvilgard work?
  5. Of course 😉 I’m still working on the army. Just slowly. With Cities of Sigmar info now out I’m doing Anvilgard. I’m doing 20 corsairs with bows and daggers, and 20 with swords and daggers. I fixed one of the standards so it’s blowing to the side rather than to the rear, but will have to weight down that one’s base a fair bit. I’m still wondering about colour schemes as desert-aelves would be interesting and rare, in beiges, with some red as Anvilgard is in the Realm of Fire. Or do something jungle-esque, fitting the terrain around the city. Or have them as Anvilgard but base them as if they’re fighting in another realm (as we have some AoS models at home done on winter bases already. And I do like winter bases).🤔
  6. Thank you very much. So Realm Reavers can only be used in an ‘Order’ army, not in an army that is a subfaction of Order? Interesting.
  7. Pardon the noob question... Is the Feared Taskmaster ability from the Realm Reavers battalion (Order book) a Command Ability (i.e. requires a CP)? It doesn’t say it’s a Command Ability, though I realise the Order book is from AoS1 when there were no Command Points. If I can add a second part: Could I use the Realm Reavers battalion in an Anvilgard army? The Charrwind Beasthunters battalion from Cities of Sigmar is extremely similar, but lacking the Feared Taskmaster ability. My Anvilgard Elf pirates have to be Charrwind Beasthunters?
  8. I’m confused on the Battalion thing too (sorry, I’m relatively new to AoS. Last time I played WHFB there were no Tomb Kings. Oh, wait). Realm Reavers from the Order book; - 1 black ark fleet master - 2 units of corsairs - 1 unit of Scourge runner chariots - 1 kharibdyss - Reroll 1s to wound Monsters - Feared Taskmaster ability. 1 battalion unit within 8” of fleetmaster can move, shoot or charge. - 150 points ... is very similar to Anvilgard’s Charrwind Beasthunters: - 1 Black Ark Fleetmaster - 3 units Black Ark Corsairs - 1-3 Scourgerunner Chariots - 0-1 Kharibdyss - +1 to wound rolls when you target a monster. - 120 points. ...but if I have an Anvilguard battalion I can only use the Charrwind Beasthunters battalion? I cannot use Realm Reavers?
  9. One of the (former wood elf) corsairs I’ve built so far. There won’t be a lot of these, but a few to show that even dirty forest-dwellers can get in. Khirdail the Fleetmaster himself: Body is from a Dark Eldar medusa Head is a Dragon Prince (either he’s an exiled one or he killed one and stole his helmet). Arms and weapons from the Scourge Privateers and Chariot kits. I’ll be using Greenstuff World’s chameleon colour change paints for cloaks and my Kharibdyss. This is still work in progress. Borealis Green over gloss black. Looks far better in real life. Will be highlighting it next. Privateer trumpeter. Dragon prince horn. Standard bearer. I plan to move the flag so it blows to his left, following the movement of his cloak a bit better. And a second standard bearer, with (ex-) Dragon Prince flag.
  10. Thanks, Kramer.👍 I think Fleetmaster Khirdail’s tale of his escape from the “soul-stealing Deepkin scum” will vary depending upon how drunk he is at the time, ranging from including a beautiful elven princess who gifted him the pendant that allowed his escape, to him single-handedly taking on dozens of soulless wretches... I don’t know of any Deepkin players - yet - but with each of my armies I choose a nemesis and buy a box of two of their minis: some for bitz as trophies, and some to be made properly as foes for use on the inevitable Armies On Parade board.
  11. Edit: with Cities of Sigmar now out I’m making it an Anvilgard army, though heavy on the corsairs. Khirdail’s Corsairs The mention of Scourge Corsairs in the first article announcing Cities of Sigmar on Warhammer Community persuaded me to get myself an army of them. I had like the look of the miniatures for years but had often worried about them being Squatted. I now have: - 40 corsairs. I’m waiting for the book to come out before I decide on armament though I am keen to have one unit of each sword-and-dagger, and crossbow-and-dagger. - 1 Scourge Runner Chariot. - 1 Kharibdyss. - 1 Black Ark Fleetmaster. - 10 Black Guard. Perhaps these guys are the city’s elite transported aboard the Scourge ship. And in the future plan to get some Dark Riders and give them scaly-cloaks via oyumaru and greenstuff. Pirate scouts. The fleetmaster has a Dragon Prince helmet (he’s either an exiled one or killed one and took it) and there are other High Elf and Wood Elf bits to be scattered through the army. These rogues will accept anyone... ...except Deepkin. Any elf worth his (sea)salt fights upon the waves. Not under them. And certainly not floating above them. #haughty sniff# Would it be within fluff to have the general have been abducted by the Deepkin at some point and escaped rather than lose his soul, thus holding a grudge against them ever since...? I’ll post some images soon.
  12. I had longingly looked at Scourge Privateers for quite some time, but never dropped the hammer/cash as I was worried they would be squatted. When the Cities of Sigmar article mentioned them my worries were assuaged and I got started (40 corsairs, a chariot, kharibdyss and bitz to kitbash a fleetmaster). Very excited to get my hands on the book once it’s out (and then decide on armament for my corsairs). And eventually I want to get some Dark Riders to add, giving them (via oyumaru and greenstuff) Corsair-scaly cloaks. But no Deepkin allies. Any elf worth his (sea)salt fights upon the waves. Not under them nor swimming above them. Preposterous.
  13. Great work. It’s nice to see them done not as pale as the box art.
  14. Do you think the models in the coming season of Warhammer Underworlds indicate a revision for or a new direction for Wood Elves? Centaurs and satyr-like Elves?
