  1. Ooh I would indeed count Endless Spells. Thanks, that's a good one. And terrain. But it's still an edge case. I think it's fairly clear that other than Stormcasts, whose entire design space is "there's always another chamber to open", and fringe pieces around the edges, updating existing armies with new model kits has not, to date, been a very common practice. It is possible that it will happen, and you could claim that it is likely to happen, but it is definitely not the current model, and I don't think it's accurate to talk about it as if it's an established practice. The current model is that new armies get new models - new armies meaning either brand new like Bonereapers, or upgrading from GHB faction to battletome like Gloomspite or StD (which is all behind us now) - and already existing armies get replacement battletomes, with the possibility for endless spells, terrain, or poaching an existing unit or model kit from another faction or specialist game, but no bespoke new model kits. In addition to brand new kits, I don't believe that there have been any like-for-like model kit replacements for battletome to battletome upgrades (ie. Flesheater Courts, Boney/Ironjaws, Khorneholios, etc.) where a unit has had its kit replaced with a new one - that's only been for GHB faction to battletome upgrades. I'd be happy enough to see that change - for the Blades of Khorne AoS3.0 release, add a new unit of Bloodchompers or Skullheavers, why not? Or replace the old starter box Khorgorath with a new multipart kit or something. But it would be a new-to-AoS policy.
  2. Talking about adding to existing lines. Help me out, it must exist and I'm just having a brainfart. Ignore Stormcasts Ignore heroes from dual army boxes Ignore Underworlds bands What AoS factions have had units added to their lineups after they were given Battletomes? I can't think of any.
  3. Haha it's so counterintuitive that people can't see the problem. Scenario: The Iron Jaws unit has taken some wounds. Enemy unit A is 1" away. Enemy unit B is 10" away. Is the condition "is more than 9 inches from any enemy units" met? It's a familiar problem to someone who has studied probability and statistics - you have to change your wording flipping between P and 1-P. To get what people are assuming it means, you need "is not any enemy units within 9 inches".
  4. Flesheater courts: Terrorgheists surrounded by hordes of ghouls (that was my main list for 2019)
  5. Old metals is the main concern for me - I love old metals but I have some second hand ones with thicccc varnish that have been challenging to strip, either defeating the milder chemicals or requiring harsher chemicals I don't like to use (the sort that chew through rubber gloves like they were made of cotton candy).
  6. Yeah me too. I have a friend who does commission painting and he swears by it. I got a fairly small one to test it out (they get expensive for bigger ones).
  7. I picked up an ultrasonic cleaner, excited to try stripping some paint with it.
  8. I'm sure one of the reasons for the multi-year timeline is to allow for the shiny new Lenton plastic factory to get up and running.
  9. My wife has been trapped in one of those for almost 25 years now...
  10. There isn't any news that matters for anyone, really. It's a very nice map, with a couple emblems on it. Gives us another vague, non-binding hint about the sort of flavour we might expect from Old World, that's about it.
  11. Yeah that is one beautiful map. I like it a lot. I'd put that on my wall (and I'm not some weird basement guy, I've got a family and a nice house and everything!).
  12. It never helps to be collecting many things at once. Hahahahahahahahaha
  13. I *think* my problem is actual lack of time and not lack of motivation, but when I say it out loud, it might be that I'm not feeling motivated to *make* the time.
  14. I'm having a hard time getting hobby time these days, and it's bumming me out. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - my kid is 9 now and almost at the age where she can go entirely unsupervised. And I'm settling into a more managerial position at work which means less overtime/design work which should help. But it's just not coming right now. I can see all my squiggos from my bed but I haven't touched them in a couple weeks.
  15. I think this entirely misses the largest type. D : Casual players who like to play games and pick up some models to play, might never get fully painted, might never get beyond 1500-2000 points, might not ever go to a tournament. (My local AoS league is at least 2/3 type D )
  16. Ooh what if the whole thing is an all-in bluff, a distraction, a feint. The actual objective is something else. That would be cool.
  17. Sounds like the Old World. People attacking and defending elves, elves hating on different elves, and everyone complaining about Teclis.
  18. Not Grungni. KO are from Grungni., Fyreslayers are from Grimnir. We need the return of Valaya. Hearth and hold dwarfs.
  19. I don't like it how it was done at first. I played Stormcast as my main army for a few months, and since I was painted as Anvils, I always picked Anvils. What that means is that I literally have no idea what any of the SCE command abilites and artefacts are - I never once took a single one in dozens of games. I do like how it's done in the Slaves to Darkness book, where each of the subfactions has its own full list rather than a single item - you're still locked down by the subfaction, but at least you still get a choice.
  20. Couple thoughts. 1) I'm not a Seraphon player. I played Lizardmen in 5th edition when they were in the starter set but not since. I did, however, paint up a Seraphon start collecting set for a local store. Maybe it's because I've been around for a while, maybe it's because I still include older models in my regular hobby life, maybe it's because I occasionally dip into 3rd party/lower quality models, but I didn't really notice anything out of line with the Saurus (either mounted or on foot) compared to other armies. They were fun to paint, looked fine, and were just normal models. 2) There are things that are evidence of imminent squatting. Factions being phased out of the lore. Models going on Last Chance to Buy. That sort of thing. One thing that is NOT evidence of imminent squatting: the confirmed forthcoming release of a new battletome and new terrain piece. It's sort of related to an advertising algorithm anecdote: one time I mentioned on Facebook that I had just received some new business cards. I was then inundated with advertising for business cards for several days - at a time in my life where my need for new business cards had literally never been lower. It is the same sort of thing here. You are never farther away from a faction being squatted than in the period between a new book being announced and the arrival of that book.
  21. Unlikely. They could release that game tomorrow, and it would just be AoS with different warscrolls.
  22. It's like a wonderful Poe's Law thing, where I legitimately can't tell if it's a real person, or if it's some forum regular making an alt account posting as satire.
