  1. Because it has come up a few times here, I dont think Dawnriders are meant to replace Dragon Princes, but instead the Silver Helms of old. Dawnrider are not a super elite group of nobles but just another kind of Vanari. They are meant to cut down light infantry. Which is different to the elite, heavily armed and hard hitting cavalry like the Dragon Princes. Im sure their equivalent will arive later with a more Tyrion focused release.
  2. Im in the exact same boat! I collected High Elves back during Fantasy times (sold them a bit before the End Times). So I had enough of basic archers, spearmen and cav. At first I thought they played it a little too save but then they showed the Alarith and they have really grown on me. Especially the Mountain spirits (currently painting my second one haha). The elemental and spirit theme really hooked me in and I want to focus on that with my collection, but a few Vanari here and there dont hurt either.
  3. While Tyrion is in fact more martial, both the Vanari (founded by Tyrion) and the temples (founded by Teclis) can be found in all Lumineth nations. The short story describing the River temple for example is set in Oultrai, a Tyronic nation.
  4. Heck yeah! The teaser was great for the new Lumineth stuff alone! I suspected Wind will be the next temple, just because of how detailed they were described in the battletome, but great to see them come so soon. Mages riding on clouds is always awesome and I cant wait to see more Aelementors on the battlefield. Now I just need to find a way to fit a Wind temple contigent into my Alarith-centric Ymetrica force haha
  5. First of all, interesting read! Im always happy to see topics like this. (Just one minor correction. Phoenicium is located in Ghyran, just like Greywater Fastness and the Living City.) Yes, I see your point. Right now Phoenicium and to some extend Tempest Eye feel like the weakest cities theme wise. Phoenicium seems to be too narrowly focused on the Phoenix theme. That in itself would be fine if the Phoenix Temple wasnt such a small/tight faction. I think Games Workshop has to give them a more unique ruleset to tie the other factions more into the theme of the city. Maybe they could focus more on the religiouse aspect of the Phoenix Temple. A unique prayer lore for example would set them apart from the other cities. Of course, another welcomed solution would be to expand the Phoenix Temple itself, but thats hard to do without new models. Maybe they can focus on Phoeniciums role as premiere Aelven city in the Realm and allow them to take AELF units in the same way Barak-Thryng can take DUARDIN ?
  6. Nicely done! Im always happy to see some narrative battlereports! Even though im a Lumineth Player, I sympathized with the Anvilgard force here. "Anvilgard endures!" and all that, you understand Great job, the white looks really good! I was so intimidated by the studio colorscheme, so I have great respect for you being able to pull it off!
  7. From the Dread Pageant article: "Perhaps his appearance is a taste of things to come..."
  8. I cant find any mention of a genocide, or the aelves killing civilians, only how the warriors of the Darkling Covens cut down the city's Freeguild regiments.
  9. I think she will keep it, simply because the physical model carries it quite prominently.
  10. Absolutely, we got 1/3 of one ability so far. No command traits, artefacts or spells. Id say we wait and see. No use moaing about "useless rules" before we even get the full picture.
  11. Hi! Well, if you like Dark Elves, Cities of Sigmar and Anvilgard is your best bet. But you may want to wait a week. GW will release a campaign Book "Broken Realms: Morathi" that will feature new rules for the Cities of Sigmar, with a focus on the former Druchii factions.
  12. I just send him a DM because I feard they were implying something like this haha I read some parts of it and I quite like it. A bit less meat than the Brightspear one but still great. The writing really nails the atmosphere of the place and there is some great artwork giving an overview what the full city looks like (instead of the small piece we got in the CoS battletome). I just started an Anvilgard force and this and Broken Realms gives me a lot of motivation right now!
  13. Cubicle7 just released a City Guide for Soulbound today and they worked closely with GW on this one. I doubt they will complety remove the City right after providing so much content.
  14. Had a look trough, great little adventure! I really like the section about the festival foods and games. Nice piece of worldbuilding! While you are here, is there any information on when we get an update for Shadows in the Mist? The Brightspear City Guide was great, cant wait for the Anvilgard one!
  15. First of all, the sample size is tiny. 25 tournaments mean you cant really make any definitive statements with that. That aside 25 different allegiances (and 44 subfactions) present is a pretty good number for a tabletop game (especially when considering that there are only 28 or so factions in the game). That means most armies can reach top tables. You mentioned dota/etc... and comparisons to video games come up from time to time, but its important to remember that tabletop games are complety different beasts when it comes to balancing. 25 tournaments over a span of 4 or so months is nothing. You can run that many test tournaments in a week with video games. Video games have a much easier access to data and can quickly apply changes (unlike tabletop Games, where a single game takes hours and meta changes take much longer) and there are still regular balance updates! All things considered current GW is doing an all right job and im happy to see such a diverse line up.
  16. I have tried the Stoneguard a few times and they only ever felt kinda worth it in a Ymetrica Alarith battalion. They are still very vulnerable to mortal wounds, but the extra resilience against normal attacks somewhat makes up for it. Running them close to a mountain spirit and a mountain mage feels absolutely necessary. The 1" weapon range prevents them from really dishing out any damage. I had the most success when I had them tank some chaff while the Spirit clears the objective from the more dangerous units. So far, my core has been this: Avalenor, the Stoneheart King (360)Alarith Stonemage (130)10 x Alarith Stoneguard (200)BattalionsAlarith Temple (120)Total: 810 / 2000 Depending on the game size I add some more stoneguard but some sentinels, wardens and dawnriders feel absolutely necessary.
  17. Thank you! The color scheme is pretty simple. The grey is just Mechanicus Standard Grey + Nuln oil. The gold is Retributor Gold + Agrax Earthshade and then again some gold drybrush. The sapphire is leadbelcher + Contrast Talassar Blue.
  18. I finished my Ymetrica Mountain Spirit. Such a beautiful model. Cant wait to get my hands on Avalenor!
  19. 2. The most likely explanation is that all this stuff was abandoned with the reinvention. The Battletome talks about how this event reformed all of Lumineth Society. 3. I think Alarielle cares very little about events that happened in the world that was. There are aeons separating these two times and Alarielle has made it clear repeatedly that she only really cares about the Sylvaneth and Ghyran.
  20. Yes, only the Stone Guard and the Mountain Spirit have alternative builds. When it comes to the Stone Guard, Mallets are more effective against 5+ or worse save units, while Diamond picks are better at 4+ or better. If you give them the -1 rend buff that breaking point moves to 3+/4+. When it comes to the Mountain Spirit, if you run Ymetrica, taking Avalenor is a no-brainer. He can do everything the normal can do, but better.
  21. Re: Conversions Im currently converting my Dawnriders to fit more into the Ymetrica theme: The Champion got a Stone Guard Hammer instead of their sword, the Banner has a Longhorn face at the top instead of the emblen, and one rider got a bird from the Sentinel kit following him.
  22. Alarith Color scheme test before I start on the Stone Mage and the Mountain Spirit. I wanted the Alariths to have a similar color scheme to the rest of my Ymetrica force. So I used grey for the stone armor, and the same blue I used for the fabric for my Vanari.
  23. I made the cut at the roughly the height of the small ovals, right in the middle of the thinnest Part.
