  1. Cool idea for a thread! I started collecting about 18 months ago (roughly a month after the release of the Realm of the Wood Elves DLC for Total War: Warhammer - coincidence?) Wanderers: 1 Nomad Prince 1 Darkoath Warqueen converted to be a 'Nomad Prince' 2 Spellweavers 1 Sisters of Twilight on Forest Dragon 1 Shadowdancer 1 Glade Lord on Elven Steed 1 Glade Lord with Sword and Spear 1 Wayfinder 1 Waystrider 2 Waywatchers (Hero) 15 Waywatchers (unit) 30 Wardancers 30 Eternal Guard 30 Sisters of the Watch 10 Sisters of the Thorn 10 Wild Riders I started to run out of Warhammer Wood Elves to collect so now I also have some of GW's LOTR Wood Elves... and some Rohan because Rohan.
  2. I really like the idea of a unit of 30 rangers, but haven't been able to fit so many WWR into a list. I've had some success with a unit of just 10 rangers personally (was able to kill a Stardrake for the first time in my last game). Between Blessing of Life, Shield of Thorns, and the Waywatcher's 'See but do not be seen' command ability we have some tools to protect them. Don't forget that although Shield of Thorns lost some of it's mortal wound punch with the Mystic Shield nerf, it's now just a much, much better version of Mystic Shield that casts on the same value; imho Shield of Thorns is currently one of the best defensive spells in the game (which thanks to the strength of mixed order lists is the reason Sisters of the Thorn are still 220 points).
  3. Because a pile-in is indeed classified as a move and the Fortress of Boughs ability states the unit cannot move while the ability is active, alas you cannot.
  4. True, Grand Alliance: Order does mention that Alarielle and the Sylvaneth see the Wanderers as "divorced from nature," which does sound like a pretty big diss among nature loving types. However, the Sylvaneth section of that same book details how the Sylvaneth in general "remain distrustful of any not of their kind" and that the Wanderers "are seen as estranged cousins" (page 85 of GA: Order). If you thought the Sylvaneth 'rejection' of the Wanderers was harsh, you should hear what they think of humans and dwarves! There being a certain level of distrust (IE "rift") between the aelves of the wood and the forest spirits is something that goes way way back to the world-that-was from what I understand. The new fluff from the Core Book confirms that whatever the nature of the "rift" between Alarielle and the Wanderers, they were nevertheless close allies at the beginning of the War of Life ('Swathe Nations At War' p94), and that it was only after "abandoning Ghyran to the infestations of Nurgle and hence leaving the people of the Everqueen to their plight" that they "[had] broken a long-standing alliance that will take lifetimes to rebuild" ('The Wanderers' p143). Alarielle lived and fought alongside the Wanderers until many of those aelves abandoned her, whereas Teclis tried to destroy the Idoneth outright after creating them and they fled. I would argue that their relationships with their respective gods are quite different. This is not to say that similarities don't exist, or that Wanderers and Idoneth don't have many fluff-based reasons to ally together. Moreover, unlikely allies make for a fantastic narrative hook and gives you a jumping off point for the story of your army. For example, if you decide to take Drycha as an ally (in any army, because she hates EVERYONE), you suddenly have to explain from a narrative perspective why she would fight alongside non-sylvaneth 'scum.' And thus a story almost immediately writes itself in the explaining thereof (maybe Drycha is using the non-sylvaneth as pawns in her genocidal game, maybe she was ordered to fight alongside them by Alarielle herself but is ready to turn on them at any moment, etc). Again, not to say I think Idoneth make particularly unlikely allies for Wanderers (I don't), but you do have some explaining to do when you ally in soul thieves into your army (but the explanation itself is an opportunity for good storytelling). I imagine it goes something like this in it's most basic form - 'Hey Idoneth, don't steal our children, come fight with us and we'll totally get you some souls broh... but seriously, stay away from our children...' ?
  5. Source? My impression is that many Wanderers decided to abandon her and Ghyran to it's fate, not the other way around. I feel that the Wanderers reconciling with Alarielle is far more likely than the Idoneth reconciling with Teclis, in fact we know that many Wanderers live within Alarielle's Living City with her blessing.
  6. I believe you are short one unit. You have your five heroes and 2 units of cavalry, but then you need 4 units of your choice of Sisters of the Watch, Glade Guard, Wildwood Rangers, and Eternal Guard. You have only three - break the unit of 20 Eternal Guard into two units of 10 for example and you should be good to go! Edit: whoops, didn't see the 2x on Glade Guard... Here's a rule question that came up in my first AoS 2.0 game - the Waystone Pathfinders Defensive Volley ability lets you choose a unit within 12" of the Nomad Prince and all units in the battalion can make a shooting attack against that unit as if it were the shooting phase. Do y'all think this overrides the core rules? If one of your units is within 3 inches of an enemy unit can it shoot 'out of combat' to target a different unit that has been selected for a Defensive Volley? You're not alone Personally I don't feel very motivated to take any allies at all, I got into Age of Sigmar to play Wood Elves Wanderers, and that's what I intend to do!
  7. I did a quick paint up of the Emerald Lifeswarm because it looked fun and I thought it best fit the Wanderers thematically. Excited to try a game today and see how it goes for my Wanderers in 2.0.
  8. I feel like Wild Riders still aren't cheap enough for what they do, but I'll try to run them in the new edition nevertheless. They are an excellent target for the Spellweaver's Blessing of Life and have excellent bravery. I think you might want a unit of 10 to give them enough power to do want you want them to do - charge support heroes and ranged units. We're losing quite a bit of our mobility with the change to Realm Wanderers, and their ability to run and charge can offset that a bit. Having them in your Waystone Pathfinders battalion will let them start the game from any board edge - super useful for putting them in a flanking position.
  9. I really thought I was going to use the Lifeswarm, more for flavor reasons than almost anything else, but at 60 points I'm going to have trouble fitting it in my lists. I understand they wanted to price healing at a premium, but it just doesn't quite do enough to justify being one of the most expensive endless spells. The Aethervoid pendulum will perhaps prove to be the best endless spell - even if your opponent gets to move it they can't move it backwards towards you and it deals the big d6 wounds, all at 20 points less the the Lifeswarm. Sure, they perform very different functions but it's hard to overlook the disparity in point efficiency. I still think I will find a way to fit it in a list and field it, looks fun to paint and everything. Combine with the Spellweaver's Blessing of Life to bring back 2d3 slain Sisters of the Watch per turn, as you say, and laugh maniacally.
  10. The Soulsnare Shackles seems like a very strong option for almost any army at only 20 points. Wanderers can use their mobile wizards - the Sisters of the Thorn with their 12"+d6 move or a Spellweaver using the Realm Wanderers ability - to get down field and then throw the shackles in the midst of the opponents' army, slowing them down and keeping them away from our squishy archers. Its big downfall is that they shackles are relatively easy to dispel, but that means the opponent has 'wasted' a spell to do so or else have their army move at a snail's pace. I get that it doesn't 'replace' it because we were already casting it, but Shield of Thorns is the same casting value as mystic shield and it rerolls all saves and it can also cause mortal wounds to boot. I think 'as is' mystic shield will still be quite useful at times. I think the endless spells will fill this void for the most part, as you'll likely be using some of your spell casting attempts to dispel your opponents endless spells as well as using some casting attempts to throw your own out there. Unfortunately most of the talk I've heard here locally is that many folk won't want to use the realm rules and spells - too 'unbalanced.'
  11. Awesome army concept, great execution. Love it! The shields are really cool.
  12. Most places that host podcasts should have it or something... @Bosmer Nightblade Here's where I found it: https://podtail.com/en/podcast/legends-of-the-painty-men/
  13. Awesome! Warhammer is a new niche for comedy podcasts, and comedy is a new niche for Warhammer podcasts. Win-Win.
  14. Second from the left is the old Shadowdancer model? I never would have thought of mounting her on a horse, looks great though! Very cool conversions.
  15. Fantastic work! Had my eye on this model for a while and this is great inspiration. I agree with @AKING, the whole thing looks great but the eyes really stand out!
  16. Very cool, the Sisters of the Watch heads look great on them, hadn't thought of that... I agree the shield suit the models well, too bad there's no rules for them anymore.
  17. Awesome! The green manes on the stags turned out especially well, nice!
  18. Nature aelves are best aelves! Awesome to see someone make some proper Wanderer archers out of the Namarti Reavers, those models are my favorite from the Deepkin range and your conversions are fantastic! Super inspiring progress you've made.
  19. Very cool! I like this idea! Just wanted to chime in quickly and mention that if you can't get a Korhil model, the Eternal Guard/Wildwood Rangers kit comes with a one handed axe intended for the Wildwood Ranger champion. If you're looking for an aelven one-handed axe it's a good option imho: Could be onto something here, I think. Short range, but with rend and 3+ or even 2+ to wound? Now we're talking! Lion cavalry! I've seen some really cool conversions where people have put the Sisters of the Thorn onto wolves to great effect, and I think the same could done with lions. Yes please! Aaaaaand.... I'm off to shamelessly plug Wanderer models in some other thread! Excelsior!
  20. Awesome! I've always thought ogors would be a fun project.

Awesome use of colors, great job!
  23. Awesome! Looks like it would a really fun board to play on.
  24. Is this a thing? Have they been an army in the past? Most 40k isn't my bag but from the bit of reading I've done on the fluff this would definitely be my army if it was a thing! Is there any chance this could be for LOTR? Any rumor engine precedent for that? They do seem to be rebranding it to the "Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game" with next month's 'Battle Companies' book, maybe some more LOTR in the pipeline? I do think it's most likely AoS though. Now this just has to be aelves this time, right? You know what they say about broken clocks. Or I am just a broken record?
