  1. @Raptor_Jesues, it's gonna be fun just to put those bad boys down on the table and see the reactions. 😄 @Ferrus65, yeah, they are the originals. Metals though, not resin. I bought 5 back in 2008 when they were released but since then I've been looking over ebay for any decent deals... and let me tell you, metals are not any cheaper than the finecasts. I love these miniatures though and consider the army a nostalgic collection piece as much as anything else.
  2. @Ferrus65 Thanks! And sure, here you go! These are 5 of the 20 I have right now. I'm currently painting up another 10 so I can run a list of 30 knights for an upcoming tournament. Once I have that done I intend to take more and better pictures of my entire army. I'll post a link to it when I have one!
  3. @Honk, that's right! Old Arkhie don't do much with his OG wheels no mo'. I replaced the skeleton horses with those from the dreadblade harrow and use it as a coven throne. This one is quite a bit shorter than the original CT but I haven't had any complaints so far. ✌️
  4. I've got a little success story to share... Played a match this week against a Kunnin' Rukk bonesplitterz list. You know, the type that can shoot out hundreds of arrows every turn? Pretty nasty stuff. However, we were playing the new version of the Duality of Death scenario which now also lets battleline units hold the objectives. I was given the first turn so I took my unit of 10 blood knights and plopped them on a big piece of terrain right near one of the objectives and handed them a mystic shield every turn, or a Tactical Insight if the spell failed. Those knights with their 2+ save and re-rolling 1's tanked everything and won me the match by not doing anything else. This was a good day to play Soulblight and have blood knights as battleline. 😎 Anything else would've been shot to death immediately. 🧛‍♀️
  5. That looks great! But I think you should go back and try a durthu or TL ancient head on Syll'Eske again, if you still have them around... a bit too big looks better than a bit too small. More heroic, y'know. 😉
  6. My first time entering here. I will endeavor to finish the things I need to enable a Soulblight list that I want to run in a tournament at the start of October. I pledge to build and paint the following. 🧛‍♂️ 1 Vampire Lord 10 Blood Knights 6 Vargheists 3 Fell Bats 2 Bat Swarms I will also raise the stakes and go for HARD MODE: the blood knights have just been shipped to me from various places around the world and I probably won't have them for another week or two. My saving grace is that I know exactly how I'm going to paint everything, since it's just more of the same of what I've already got. 🦇
  7. Hi Chikrit! Yes, using them as Vampire Lords will be perfectly fine. I'm pretty sure you could also go with both flying horror and chalices for them both. I've never run into issues with one of mine not expressively showing all options. Just make sure your opponents are aware of what your models have got before and during the games.
  8. I can update this list now, 8 months later. I dropped the allies and went for a pure Soulblight collection. 1 Coven Throne 1 Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon 1 Bloodseeker Palanquin 2 Vampire Lords Prince Vhordrai Neferata Mannfred 20 Blood Knights 6 Vargheists 6 Fell Bats 4 Bat Swarms 1 Evil Fortress complete with a Pompous Throne to use as an objective in siege games. 4000 points legally playable as two battlehosts, all painted. My first ever painted army! Now I just need to get my thumbs out and set up a good place to take pictures of it all.
  9. I think Neferata is a good option to have available in both Legion of Blood and Soulblight, anyway. She enables a battalion and provides good abilities for both armies. You could build Mannfred and put him on a dragon and then build Neferata on the mount, magnetized so you can also use Arkhan if you feel like it. He can be allied into Soulblight without issues.
  10. Remember that the wolves should be on 60x35mm bases, same as the blood knights. If you want only the Mannfred model then I think ebay or similar is your best bet. There's one listing from the UK at 1/3rd the price of the full kit... but if you know that you want to use one of the mortarchs later on (both Manny and Neffy are soulblight) I would just go for the full kit, or the Skeleton Horde box which is good value if you can unload the extras on someone else.
  11. So much great stuff in here! But I think the kurnoth head you've put on Syll'Esske is a bit small. Have you tried with a treelord head instead to see the difference?
  12. That looks promising! It'll be good to see another alternative to Blood Knights. 🧛‍♂️
  13. That will be a great start to your army. The wolves fill the battleline slots in Legion of Blood and are also the perfect screening unit to ally into Soulblight, so you've got both options available. I suggest you try using the dragon as both Vhordrai and a regular Lord, they've both got pros and cons. Typically, Vhordrai is stronger when there's already another dragon in your list. I haven't used or seen those Mantic models in person but I know they're typically quite a bit smaller than GW's, so the spite heads might be too large for them. If that doesn't work out I suggest you just go with the heads that comes with the riders, I think they look pretty good.
  14. I look forward to more updates from you, especially the Soulblight parts! Do you have any plans for Blood Knights yet? What models you're going to use?

    Death in warcry

@Charlo, assuming you mean the Legions of Nagash , you should take a look in their thread in the Warcry forum. https://www.tga.community/forums/topic/23355-warcry-legions-of-nagash-discussion/
  16. Yup, saw that as we were going through the rulebook. So I went with one Ishlaen prince and 3 Morrsarr guard. They're nice and fast but I was a little underwhelmed by their offensive punch. The strength seemed a little low, although I kept hitting things with T5... High Tide on turn 3 seems to be a big thing for Idoneth in Warcry as well and Morrsarr can spew out a ton of damage with their quad ability but I never got to use that one, unfortunately. Edit: Though I've read on some places that having a leader is entirely optional but you can only ever have up to one... I'll have to read through the rules again.
  17. These are my "Idoneth Deepkin", taken straight from my AoS army. I'll be using them as eel riders.
  18. I'll be going with an all eel lis to start with. Assuming a 1000p start it'll be interesting to see if having a champion variant will be worth going giving up a 5th model.
  19. Here's the megathread you were looking for, although it covers all things Death and not just the Legions. https://www.tga.community/forums/topic/18982-noobranomicon-beginners-guide-to-death/
  20. I'm going to run a small band of Blood Knights as "counts as" Idoneth eel riders. I've already got them painted up so I'm just waiting for the rules at this point. If you're wondering, Soulblight can have flying Blood Knights so yes, it fits perfectly!

    Death in warcry

@Raptor_Jesues, I'm glad you like the idea too. I was a little disappointed at first when I saw how limited the warband was for LoN but when I thought of the Idoneth possibility I got my interest back. I'm gonna start out with just "Blood Knights" but I might end up converting some retainers to stand in for thralls and reavers too.

    Death in warcry

I've not read up on the rules and haven't really investigated Warcry too much yet but I got the stellar idea to use Blood Knights as "counts as" Idoneth eel riders. Soulblight will ride again!
  23. It's a risk but if that happens they've atleast put less effort into hurting your dragons and drawing out their heals early on. Vargheists are battleline for us now, it's just been missed on the warscroll builder. I've PM'd the creator and they'll add it in the next round of updates.
  24. The VLoZD takes the ethereal amulet and Neferata casts her Dark Mist spell on Vhordrai. Here's where the necromantic bloodline becomes a good pick, making it more likely for you to get that spell off successfully.
  25. I think that's a good assessment, @Raptor_Jesues. The biggest thing I see with Neferata right now is in a necromantic list together with a VLoZD and Vhordrai for double ethereal dragons. Before the points changes you could not fit these things into a 2k list, so that is an entirely new option opened up. And yeah, if only the two mortarchs could choose spells from the deathmage lore that'd give them some identity in list building.
