  1. Well... just completed the painting side of things, yet to throw a dice in anger though. I have a strong paint-before-play ethic (influenced by my gaming group). Good fun to paint, excellent models and got to work on several different techniques that I wouldn't normally. The only down side, which would make me strongly reconsider purchasing future Warhammer Quest products, is that I've spent 2 months painting 50+ models and don't have a playable army. I'll see how much playability I get before making final decision. Ramblings aside, here are the piccies: Hope you've enjoyed, next up (after painting some 15mm Teutonic Knights for DBA) will be my forth unit Blightkings (guess the formation) and a Harbinger of Decay.
  2. Thank you ? It from Gale Force 9, comes pre-painted, really nice basic scenery. I'll be adding a few of the AoS GW pieces to my collection shortly, to give the table a bit more pizazz!
  3. Sensing a small fissure in the Realm of Life is leaking more than just bileous filth, the Hammers of Sigmar are dispatched to seal the odorous hole in reality known as Rottswill Pond. Only to find the Glottkin and their Filth-Host standing in the way. The battle lines are drawn, with the Stormcast being tasked with destroying the small but vile puddle in the bottom right corner. Ethrac Glott summons Daemonic allies hold the Rotbringer flank, as the two forces draw closer. Battle is joined and the Hammers of Sigmar take first blood, but the combat quickly swings the way of the Chortling Horde. A desperate gambit to slay the Glottkin fails, the Lord-Cellestant is slaborously licked to death and the Plaguespawned sit back and enjoy the lightning bolt display. Apparently, there was an objective involved too... Glory to the Plaguefather!
  4. Nurglings need to be a battleline unit. If a unit looks, smells and sounds (and possibly tastes, urgh) like a battleline unit, it should be a battleline unit. And/or providing points to use the Nurgle's Deluge formation in matched play, "Once on chariots made from plague clouds did the humble Nurgling ride into battle, but no more, as if it never were".
  5. Khorne Bloodbound Heroes that have threatening damage output in close combat... No wait... sorry... I'm just wishlisting now.
  6. In matched play, a summoning spell is always successfully cast on a 6, given the relative strength of a summoned unit is accounted for by its points cost.
  7. I would like to see Nurglings to become battleline in a Rotbringers army if you take Morbidex Twiceborn - fits in nicely with his rules and the fluff.
  8. Well, in that case Sir, I disagree most wholeheartedly!!!
  9. I'll look forward to your return and hope you weren't too badly rattled by the quake!
  10. Looks like good fun, certainly a few more events happening up North than in the South Island. Maybe someone should do something about that...
  11. I have been engaging in some vigorous brushing over the last few weeks and once I got my hair just right I banged out a few mini's too, ha! I love Khorne and have had both a 40k and WFB Khorne army in the past, but they were always basically unplayable in mono-god lists so I strayed, but when Gorechosen game out I couldn't resist! After getting the free WD Slaughter priest I hit the eBay and picked up the remaining 3 models I needed to make the full 8 Gorechosen of Khorne. These guys were a blast to paint and brushing on all that red, brass and blood certainly made me feel nostalgic towards the Blood God... in fact... I may have accidentally purchased Skarbrand, because, you know, battleline is for wimps. As for Gorechosen itself, what a great game. I played with my usual crew and old rivalries quickly resurfaced, backs were stabbed , retreats mocked and many skulls were taken! The best moments, amongst many, were a one shot Flamvil to a Slaughter Priests face (21 damage) and switcheroo out of an axe sandwich (a bit of a Tzeentchy move, but garnered skulls and victory, so...). 5 stars from me, easy to learn, you are always making risk based decisions and you are still in the game once you've been killed. Next project is finally starting Silver Tower. A party of all Khorne "heroes" is highly likely.
  12. Hi All This is my first entry in my blog. The intention is to present photos of my miniatures and battle reports showcasing our group's Age of Sigmar games in Christchurch, New Zealand. I will post pictures of my Nurgle Rotbringers and small Stormcast Eternal in due course, but first up is Morbidex and his Nurgling horde taking on some clean and shiny Hammers of Sigmar The battle begins, but Morbidex finds himself ambushed some Paladins with pointy looking spears, he survives after some Blightkings intevene. Nurgling Cam Morbidex slams into the Stormcast battleline, only to be felled by the Lord Celestant's shooty hammer cloak thingy. The battle reaches an exciting conclusion, or would have, if there wasn't 4 Retributors looming just out of shot! In review, I bought a fun "see what happen if I take lots of Nurglings" knife to a Stormcast gunfight, however, an enjoyable game and fun evening.
  13. I've been trying to use Morbidex in this way for a few games now, but found the Nurglings have either been wiped out entirely or they get separated by >7" due to Morbidex's speed (and the frequent need to use it). Maybe it'll come off next game ? I think all 3 Maggoth Lords add value to a Rotbringers force in different ways, which leads to the completely logical conclusion to take all 3!
  14. Morbidex is a laugh for open/narrative play as he sprays out Nurglings all over the place
  15. I don't think it is that straight forward: the mounted force is more manoeuvrable so can pick and choose the fight better and increase chances of getting the charge. It is more likely to be able to get 8 models into contact, than the full 30. The Bloodsecrator often gets caught short if the opponent gets a double turn. Points wise, you're only looking at 540 v. 500, so not much difference. The Lords rerollable charge and +1 to hit on the Gorebeasts, makes them deadset killers Other stuff happens in games, the Bloodstoker might have to whipping another unit, mission objectives happen, the sheet of ice half you army is standing on slides into the ocean etc To summarise, you can't look at damage output in isolation to infer that Slaves can't bring some noise to the table ?
  16. A couple of Gorebeast Chariots, some Knights with Glaives supported by a Lord on Daemonic Mount should wreck a bit of face on the charge ?
  17. Wow! Great stuff, hope you have a lot of fun with them!
