  1. Hello everyone! New here on this forum but I also post on DakkaDakka as Bores. I'm looking at getting into AoS and figured the best way would be to dust off my old models, give them a new coat of paint and dive right into the game. I plan to use this as a motivational page for myself to keep posting updates on. First off are a test scheme Seeker, 2 Heralds of Slaanesh that are both converted from various kits. Also a Lord of Slaanesh and a Sorcerer with the mark of Slaanesh.
  2. Hey all, I’m new to AoS, having played a couple games as SE, and was wondering what more experienced guys think is a good way to start a Chaos army based around the Mortals key word? I quite like the idea of having an army that’s maybe running as one of Archaeon’s legions with the end goal being adding him to the army. I was looking into getting the Slaves to Darkness starter set and was wondering where would be good to go after that? Not opposed to adding any chaos god themed mortal units to the army either, in fact, I think it could be quite cool. Thanks in advance!
  3. New user here, been painting 40k stuff for some year and a half now, and now getting into AoS, khorne bloodbound to be specific, fell in love with the design aesthetics of the army. I dont yet have any khorne miniatures, but this will soon be fixed. Ill kick this one off by posting 2 varanguard knights i have in progress, first one is finished except for the base. Second one is still very much a WIP, mostly been focusing on the steed and gold trimming of the armor.
  4. Beside my Ironjawz army (which is my main focus) I want to build up a small force of DoT (mainly mortals). Just to have some variety from painting green skin and their armor. I thought about a list which is heavily focused on shooting (so the complete opposite of Ironjawz) and I guess it isnt a really friendly list. Without further ado here is the list I came up with: Allegiance: TzeentchLeadersTzaangor Shaman (120)- General- Trait: Boundless Mutation - Artefact: Aspect of Tzeentch - Lore of Fate: Treacherous Bond- Lore of Change: Fold RealityBattleline10 x Kairic Acolytes (140)10 x Kairic Acolytes (140)Units10 x Brimstone Horrors Of Tzeentch (40)3 x Tzaangor Skyfires (160)3 x Tzaangor Skyfires (160)3 x Tzaangor Enlightened on Disc (160)BattalionsWitchfyre Coven (60)Total: 980/2000 I am open for opinions on it.
  5. I am looking to add a couple more units to my army so any advice on what I should buy next to increase the overall performance of the army listed below is much appreciated. This is my current collection which I use to select my army list on the day (Usually a 1500 point game): Hero's: Mighty Lord of Khorne, Aspiring Deathbringer, Exhaulted Deathbringer, SlaughterPriests x2, Skullgrinder, Demon Prince, Bloodstoker, Bloodsecretor Battleline: Units: 15 Blood Warriors, 20 Bloodreavers, 10 Bloodletters Units: 5 Skullreapers, 1 Khorgorath, 3 Bloodcrushers, 1 skullcannon A couple of ideas Iv'e been playing with; A new SlaughterPriest (For the Gore Pilgrims), 5 More Skullreapers (Allows for another battalion, the name escapes me) or maybe a large centre piece hero - possibly a Bloodthirster or even Archaon!
  6. _____Snaeper's Mini-Blog and Forum_____ For Khorne! Chaos! And the good of the forum! So I think I've made enough threads in this section to warrant me making a mega-thread to keep my stuff contained. For those of you that don't know, I play both mortal and daemon flavors of Khorne, as well as some Slaves to Darkness with a few other generic Chaos Monsters and Daemons mixed in! I have a sizable collection at this point and plan to continue to expand the model count mostly because my friends/game group field other armies and/or have interest in doing so. I also just happen to like Khorne flavored stuff as well as the generic Chaos range. I plan on using this thread to ask questions, play with theoryhammer, mathhammer and practicalhammer, as well as discuss tactics and results of games that I play with my army. I'm also open to those of you who might have more limited ranges to post lists that you're interested in so that I might try them out for you and let you know how they run against a certain army. Mind you, my roommates/friends are not always able or willing to drop everything to play a game! Presently, my model collection includes: Bold = Assembled and Primed, Italics = Unassembled, Color/Bold = Painted or in the process of painting. Khorne Bloodbound: Mighty Lord of Khorne Skullgrinder Aspiring Deathbringer w/Goreaxe and Skullhammer Aspiring Deathbringer w/Blood Axe and Wrathhammer (Not currently assembled, going to convert a Goreaxe/Skullhammer model I have) Exalted Deathbringer w/Impaling Spear Exalted Deathbringer w/Ruinous Axe and Skullgouger Skullgrinder 2x Slaughterpriests w/Bloodbathed Axes Bloodsecrator Bloodstoker Skarr Bloodwrath 3x Mighty Skullcrushers 15x Blood Warriors w/Axes and Gorefist 20x Bloodreavers w/Meatripper Axes 20x Bloodreavers w/Reaver Blades 5x Wrathmongers 5x Skullreapers with Daemonblades 1x Khorgorath Khorne Daemons: Blood Throne Skullcannon 30x Bloodletters 6x Bloodcrushers Bloodmaster, Herald Skulltaker Skarbrand Daemons of Chaos: Daemon Prince Soulgrinder Be'lakor Monsters of Chaos: 10x Warhounds Chimera Slaves to Darkness: Exalted Hero of Chaos Sorcerer Lord 12x Warriors w/Weapons and Shields 5x Knights Gorebeast Chariot Chaos Warshrine Other: Tzeentch Magister I do plan on further expanding the models, and will detail my reasons and plans when I do.
  7. Hi guys, I'm just in the process of starting a Nurgle mortals force just because I think the models are cool and would really appreciate any info you can give me, I currently own 15 Blight kings, 30 chaos warriors, Lord of plagues, Festus and a Rotbringer sorcerer. So what would you add in and why, lets say 1500 points. Cheers in advance Crow
  8. Hey guys. I've picked up a couple SC: DoK boxes due to my desire to model some Bloodletters (and I already had a Skarbrand laying around), so I wanted to talk Khorne Daemons matched play tactics while I build up my army. Since most tacticas are aimed at Bloodbound, or chaos daemons from other gods, it seemed like there's a place for it. Bloodthirsters - What ones give you the most bang for your buck? Bloodletters - What is the optimal unit size? What heroes are worth using? Calvary vs infantry? Blood Throne vs Skull Cannons? Flesh Hounds - When are these worth using? Unit size to consider? Karanak, or no karanak? Khorne Humans - What Bloodbound are worth taking? Are there any Slaves to Darkness that are worth looking into? Daemon Prince of Khorne - Worth using over other options? There are some preliminary questions to get the brain juices percolating. I mainly want to focus on the Daemons of Khorne line, while leaving the option open to use Khorne flavored mortal units when appropriate. And while this is mainly for matched play, please give your thoughts on all other ways to play when applicable! Let's talk some tactics!
  9. Hi all, I'm trying to come up with a not terrible and fun to play mixed nurgle force. I have come up with a few ideas and I would like to get some feedback on these options and get some input from people who have played nurgle before. Epidemius Lord of Plagues Harbinger of Decay Rotbringer Sorcerer x2 plague Claws x3 10 plaguebearers x4 5 Putrid Blightkings Blightguard Battalion or Epidemius Festus Leechlord Harbinger of Decay Sayl The Faithless Great Unclean One Plague Claw 10 Chaos Warriors 2x 10 plaguebearers 10 putrid blightkings 3 Blight Drones or Epidemius Festus Leechlord Harbinger of Decay Morbidex Twiceborn Be'lakor or Great Unclean One Plague Claw x3 10 plaguebearers Chaos Spawn 6 nurglings x2 5 Putrid Blightkings Anyways I would love to hear some thoughts on these ideas I'm toying with.
  10. I am starting a GAC Nurgle army and I'd like to mix the composition between Daemons and Mortals. I have about 19 Plaguebearers, and a Great Unclean One. I have a Start Collecting Slaves to Darkness on order. I'm just wondering what direction I should be looking at going in terms of future army composition and using synergies. Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks!
  11. Hey guys, I've been building up my Nurgle warband, focusing on Mortals and Rotbringers. I'm just getting back into the hobby after a long hiatus and a brutal rage quit. So I've had to rebuild my collection. Right now I have a Start Collecting Slaves to Darkness box, that I throw Nurgle marks on, about 15 Plaguebearers and a Great Unclean One. Even though the long term plan is to bring in a bunch of Blightkings and Maggothlords, I still like the aesthetic of a mixed mortals and daemons army so I have some of that stuff in there too. In the future I'd like to bring in some Nurgling bases as well as some Blight Drones. Right now I'm using the Lord of Plagues for my general, but I don't feel like he does a whole lot. I don't think he hits hard enough in combat to justify his position and his Nurgle's Rot Command Ability hasn't bowled me over in 1000 point play. (Do you think it gets better in 2000?) What heroes are you guys playing with? Who is swinging the heavy lumber? Right now, Chaos Sorcerer Lord, Lord of Plagues and Great Unclean One just don't feel like they work very well together. Or do I just need to play more, and figure them out? Get at me! What are your opinions! YEAH!!!
  12. So I was playing around with the idea for this list. Not really designed to be competitive, more just for amusing play with my friends. The Bloodhorde Leaders: Aspiring Deathbringer - General (Grants +1 to attacks to all Khorne Mortal units within 6") Bloodstoker or Skullgrinder(?) (Either get more reliable charge move and re-roll 1's to wound OR get a far less reliable but potentially devastating boost to the amount of wound rolls I'd put out) Bloodsecrator (Offers protection from magic while negating battleshock and grants double bonus to Reaver's attack plus a single +1 to everyone else's attacks). Slaughterpriest (Potentially draws units in to be unwillingly mulched by the horde and provides ranged support to soften up targets as well). Battleline: Bloodreavers (20) (The meat....) Bloodreavers (20) (... and potatoes) Blood Warriors (5) (Would either move freely of the blob or skim the perimeter to engage threats against important pieces, would work with Khorgorath). Behemoth: Chaos Warshrine (Potentially grants Re-rolls to hits for Khorne Mortals and gives 6+ save to all units in addition to armor saves, also grants Totem bonus to Bloodreavers in lieu of Bloodsecrator, should he fall). Other: Khorgorath (1) (Works with Blood Warriors or alone as a potential distraction). 1000 Points Basically a giant bloody death star, with all of the units piled in around the Aspiring Deathbringer General and the Warshrine, with the Bloodsecrator using the Shrine to hide from view. Blood Warriors and Khorgorath would essentially operate as one unit and would move freely from the blob or engage anything that might threaten the Bloodsecrator. Not sure if I should go with the 'Stoker to get a reliable wound re-roll and charge, or risk it on the 'Grinder to get a potentially devastating amount of wound rolls (especially given the amount of +1's to attack the 'Reavers will be getting from the General and Bloodsecrator). Also, instead of Blood Warriors and a Khorgorath, should I go with 5 Wrathmongers? With the amount of attacks I'd be putting out anyways, their might not be anything left of an attacking unit to worry about my opponent getting a boost.
  13. This weekend I got in my weekly game with @Sunchaser at Desert Sky Games in Phoenix, AZ. I showed up with the same mixed Nurgle list I played last time. We had agreed that we wanted to try a Battleplan from the SCGT 2016 Tournament Pack and we set that game up. I can't remember what the Battleplan was called, but it's the first one in there and it's like, you have to control altars in order to move a storm. Anyway, to control an altar requires a Hero or Monster and so @Sunchaser (who plays Sylvaneth) made a quick change to his list to include another hero. I asked him about how many points the models he took out were worth and he indicated it was about 180 points. So, like an idiot, I had this idea in my head that a Chaos Chariot was worth about 200, and I was already coming in at 960, so I said, "Hey, just leave that unit in there! I'll throw in this ****** chariot, since I've been wanting to try it anyway!" So we played the game and while the end result was technically a draw, if he had played really hard and @Sunchaser could probably have tabled me. He's a really great opponent and very chill and relaxed which kept the game competitive and interesting when it could have been super one-sided. The turn that really stands out in my memory was right in round one. I advanced my Chaos Knights next to a Chaos Chariot and then proceeded to charge them into two units if Kurnoth Hunters, one with bow and arrow, one withscythes. My Chariot did nothing. I mean, literally nothing. I think after all was said and done, I came up with one wound that he shrugged off. Or hell, I dunno, maybe that squad carried it around with them the rest of the game. Either way, the Chariot didn't really do anything. It was a far cry from the days of 5th E when Chariots were supah-bomb anyway. On their retort, the scythed Hunters brutally executed the Chariot. It was only later that I realized that I could have afforded two chariots for the cost of the models he put on the board. Not to mention the deficit I was already running. I might have been able to run THREE Chariots with those points. Not that I will. I was really underwhelmed with how one performed and I just can't see spending the money on a model that is going to be that lackluster. I think I'll probably play with this one while the rest of the army is coming together and then it will just sit in a box until we do some kind of battle royale with every model on the the table kind of thing. Sorry there were no pics this week! I'll make sure and get some at my next battle on Thursday!
