And I finally finished of my Tzaangor enlightenment and their fellow shaman.

This little fellow really took everything out of me (I literally needed a day to paint one of these) thankfully Nurgle had his hands in it, and well gifted me with one of his pestilential  gifts.  Next to literally missing  work that’s piling up, I at least had enough time to paint.

Lovely dark and evil Tzaangor, truly. But the contrast with the flowery glasses in the background helps 😂 😉

It's always the way- you think you've finished the base colours and move onto the shades, and then you spot a bit of belt you meant to do Eshin Grey, and then you realise there's a bit of Ratskin Flesh you missed, and then you see where you smudged a line with a bit of Mournfang Brown, and then you wonder what it's all for...

Anyway, I made some progress with my warpfire projector Stormfriends tonight. Just a bit of detailing and basing and they're ready to go. Pics soon-soon...

Got a little head start on this one. Finished the Maw Krusha last month, so one for one.

10 Boar Boyz to complete. 3 down already, 7 to go...

Stretch: Iron Skullz Boyz. Getting into Shadespire and want the warband painted.

Edit: Well, with four days to go I completed a second challenge. Consecutively... keep this up might become a habit. Anyway here are the boys in all there crazy glory. For interest, the dude front row centre would be the warboar boss if I want to run one.

Face on:

My favourite is the lancer boar boy. Just love the pose...

Anyway, have to think of what to do next month.

I'm heading to Warhammer World at the end of the month with my girlfriend and would like to finish as many of my Duardins as possible so we can play as large a match as possible against my Ironjawz.

So before Friday 1st March I intend to paint:

- 6 miners to make it up to 10
- The mining cart
- 16 Warriors
- 10 Longbeards
- 6 Quarrellers
- Thane with Battle Standard

Not sure how many I will be able to finish but I'll do my best!

February pledge:

  • Finish 40 skeletons (80% done)
  • Build/paint Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon
  • Finish painting Nagash (~50% done)

Stretch:

  • Finish 8 Grimghast Reapers
  • Paint 1 necromancer
  • Paint 20 chainrasp

I've been practicing airbrushing a lot and I think I've finally gotten the hang of thinning and painting with regular paints. I'm hoping to put that to good use with the Stretch goals this month. We'll see.

My pledge for February is to paint the following:

Deamon Prince of Khorne

Chaos Spawn

Stretch goals

Chaos Warshrine

5x Plastic Flesh Hounds

After working really hard at it all weekend my pledge is actually done!

Now I can crack on with my Stretch and try and get the Warshirne done at least. I’ve already started work on a Herdstone as well as an extra stretch.

On Sunday I dug out some ebay rescues from last year and rebased them so my aim for Feb is to at least get a speed painting methods for the clan rats hammered out.

60 rebased so far which should do me fine for 1k (my current aim) but even if it's not the 120 clanrate swarm it's still a lot of rodents so getting the technique down will matter.

Say do you have a very easy method for rebasing your models?

Yeah use a chisel type scalpel and cut under the feet on a cutting board. Always hold the model above the blade and don't worry about a little bit of damage to the bottoms of the feet on rank and file as the combination of poly cement and whatever basing material you use will hide the bottom 1mm anyway. Change the blade whenever it starts to get dull.

I really think this is something people overthink -  just get cutting and it barely takes any time.

Edit: these are the blades I use because I've found they rarely break even when badly mistreated but even with good blades still wear gloves.

For me it depends on how thoroughly you glued them in in the first place. I normally only glued mine with a dab of superglue, so it was easy enough to just pry them loose carefully with a knife.

For minis I got second hand which were well and truly stuck down, the best tactic I found was to take off the sides of the base with clippers, file the underside flat and then trim the corners away so that it's a tad smaller than the new base. You can then stick this down and blend it in with some greenstuff, before using the same basing materials as you used originally to hide the join. I did about 200 clanrats this way over a couple of evenings.

Not done yet obviously but I was excited and wanted to share my progress.

Okay so this month, more Gutbusters.

Got 6 Leadbelchers to do.

Then maybe a butcher with cauldron conversion. Just trying to get a hold of a 'cauldron' for it.

I did not manage to get a hold of a cauldron. So I decided that this butcher would be one who drags around a bit ol' carnosaur head instead. Big meat for big magic.20190207_113607.jpg.fc50b93c15cda2544cd74ce755339c1e.jpg

I've mentioned before that I've got hella shaky hands so working with itty bitty little chains was a nightmare haha.20190207_113531.jpg.5d09d462d57461a9a19fa6e08e5a438c.jpg

I've never really liked using regular plastic Ogors for character conversions, like say putting an Irongut on a 50mm and calling it a Tyrant. It always looked a little too small and also maybe a bit generic. I hope this conversion doesn't suffer too much from that.20190207_113504.jpg.7ab26f7df7e50f405ec8a8ef1d50bc78.jpg

Tried to give him some character and make his pose seem a bit more unique. The crossbow bolt biting arm from the beastriders kit was turned into a hand chomping arm.20190207_113508.jpg.f7589109516d37e8633c9043cfd17207.jpg20190207_113454.jpg.bfe577114c46a201ec3be25f386f8b25.jpg

That's absolutely brilliant! From concept to execution! Can't wait to see it painted up.

last month proved that even with a 6 week old you can get (very little) painting done ;)  So a very small list this time. Just a list of things close to done, and everything on here I can finish is a bonus:

Close to done:
Garreks Reavers 50% done
Frigate 80% done
Cauldron crew 95% done
Stormcast Skirmish Squad 50% done.

Everything already basecoated but stretch: 10 gors, 2 Beastlords, 1 Khemist, 1 Overtyrant, 3 Nurglings, most of a souls war box build.

So much easier to finish pledges if their halfway done already 😂 but still finished a thing!
