What would you give Slaanesh?

Just for the fun of it: Let's imagine you were in charge of the "Hosts of Slaanesh" battletome, whenever GW get around to making one. You have full creative control — rules, models, fluff, art, everything. What would you do?

An elite unit of cavalry based off the lord of slannesh on damonic mount, like a faster and tougher version of hellstriders on the worm snake.

change the keeper of secrets.

add ****** edit: haha was meant in jest but apparently not allowed. On a more serious note, get back the designer that did the old daemonettes. and let him go rampant with the new AoS freedom. Those were some of the best model GW ever produced in my opinion.

Juan Diaz is his name.

An army mechanic based on vices/sins could be fun, something akin to you picking an option and the enemy picking an option and depending how they line up determines bonuses for the slaanesh player.

Definitely pleasure cultists, also more heavily armoured mortal infantry, Slaangors and some mortal characters (sorcerer and lord-on-foot at the very least). Mortal aesthetics would be derived from the Slaanesh lord on tittysnake someone else mentioned, and the Hellstriders. Lots of crested helmets, draping cloth, curved armour pieces and weaponry as well some tastefully exposed flesh and slight mutations. Both genders represented, Slaanesh always seemed like an equal opportunity kind of guy/gal/eldritch horror.

Then commission the guy who made the Creature Caster Pincer Daemon to redesign all the daemons in that style.

Chaos already has three options for half naked cultist/grunts.

I expect we'll see the Slannesh version but can't say I find it very exciting.

Would be neat to just see cavalry and chariots be their mortal thing. The more recent Stormcast griff-horse cavalry is gorgeous so something in that vein would be pretty incredible.

A 'siren' style unit would be neat as a mortal/ demon touched med/elite with some bloodbind type mechanic, and/or negatives to hit in combat.

I would really love to see a very fat sorcerer type of hero surrounded by slaves and carried on palanquin with pillows, shishas and all other necessary equipment.

Since we're just daydreaming here, I'd like to see some, just a few mind you, units of Dark Elves being made available to take as allies.... representing the old secret Slaanesh worshipping cults. A nod to the old fluff. Plus it would give me a reason to take them off the shelf again. Haven't really used them since they "buried the hatchet" and joined their foe-cousins in the world of Order....¬¬

I DO use witch elves and sisters as daemonettes when I'm running big units in big games, but it would be cool to have them with their own rules which, if I'm not mistaken, would fit in really well with Slaanesh.

Have the fat sorcerer on the palanquin but have a daemonette stood next to/behind him with her arms around his shoulders and stroking his head.

Make the "slaves" and "bearers" half human half daemon.

"Ensorcelled archmage"

4 attacks by the alluress, 6 from 4 bearers and 2 slaves. An ability for the alluress, a spell option from the alluress, a spell option from the archmage (of a none typical slaanesh type ie. fireball) and another bonus type ability!

A really good and competitive allegiance ability, like attack priority for all close combat activations and bonuses on charge with the highest move values across the board plus run and charge, maybe additional pile-in if there is a enemy unit within 3" (could be a command ability or something).  Lowering bravery and rending abilities with some good supporting lore would also help. I see Slaanesh as a hard to master fast melee glass cannon using overwhelming amount of high rending attacks.

Something heavy, like a Slaaneshi equivalent to Khorne's slaughter beast or Tzeentch's Mutalith vortex beast. I also think that potential artefacts could include the armor formerly worn by Sigvald(forget it's name), and a banner that increases or decreases movement of units around the hero, depending on whether they have the SLAANESH keyword.

A dedicated mortal wizard would be good. Slaanesh could also get a unique lore of magic: Lore of Forbidden Vice or something like that.

In AOS Slaanesh needs a bit..  And many of the sugestions so far have been good. I agree with @Ar-Pharazôn about a large monster... and I agree with @Tasmanabout geting some of the darkelves in.  But what I think would be great, is some type of missile unit. The old idea that chaos doesn't use bows has been slowly eroded in AOS, and a horse archer like unit could be fun. It would also set them apart from the opposite god Khorne, who is all about close combat.

After having given this some more thought, I think Slaanesh could really use more varied daemons. All they have are daemonettes, seekers (the anteater mount things), fiends and keepers. That's four. Compare to Tzeentch: Pink horrors, blue horrors, brimstone horrors, flamers (arguably exalted flamers), screamers, discs, lord of change. Seven, not counting special characters.

I don't have any particular ideas for what kinds of daemons should be added, only that I want to see more variety...

That can be said for most the Deamon Ranges outside of Tzeetch.

  • Nurgle has 6 (Not counting specials)
  • Khorne has 8 (Not counting specials, and Blood Thisters as 1)
  • Slanesh has 6, (Not 4 as you missed the 2 types of Chariots)

Now I expect that Nurgle will change, as well its missing alot of the models at the moment so I think we will have a relies soon.

Why would chariots count as a type of daemon? I'm not talking about daemon units, I'm talking about daemon "species".

  • I count five Nurgle - plaguebearers, plague drones, beasts, nurglings and great unclean one. What am I missing?
  • Khorne has bloodletters, juggernauts, flesh hounds and bloodthirsters. That's four, no idea how you got to eight.

So yeah, Khorne has the same number, but Slaanesh suffers more due to the fact that both the fiend and keeper kits are ancient - do people even use fiends in current Slaanesh armies? Khorne also has more variety in the form of different bloodthirsters and special characters.

I wasn't counting Species, I was counting units.

If your doing that then I would argue that the Tzeentch list is much lower as all the Horrors are the same 'Species' Screamers and Disks are the same... (Disks are just Bound Screamers),  which also puts them to four as well as Khorne and Slaanesh.

The Fiend kit is old, so is the Beast of Nurgle kit. And the Flesh Hound one.

Eh, I'd say the horror sub-species are all distinct enough, even if pinks and blues are rather similar. Didn't know discs were bound screamers, that's interesting... they still look quite different.

Oh, I forgot Khorgoraths, so that's five for Khorne.

True about the flesh hounds, but we're very likely getting a new beast of Nurgle kit soon, since Horticulux Slimux has specific interactions with them. Nurgle also has a lot of specials, including the Glottkin and the Maggoth Lords.

Aaaaanyway, this was supposed to be a Slaanesh idea thread, and I just thought there's room to add more variety to the Slaanesh daemon lineup.

Khorgoraths are not Deamons (as are the Glottkin and the Maggoth Lords, all mortals)... and the Horror/Screamer stuff you expect them to be hard to categorize as well he is the Lord of Change and all that jazz..

But yes Slaanesh.

As far as Deamons go, I don't think they need new 'species', but I think specialists could be good! Deamonets on Seekers with Bows. Maybe even a warmachine of some kind.

What if they had a once per game ability to corrupt target opponent's unit?  Take them over for a turn to attack a nearby unit or themselves and then maybe if thats too powerful after a certain amount I time they turn into chaos spawn (free of points cost)

I kinda like the idea of archers, mass archers, mounted archers, blocks of troops who are skilled in archery to comiment the chaos warriors.

Elite units competent in combat and archery.

Slaanesh, that I'm aware of has the following units:

Keeper of secrets
Lord on Steed of Slaanesh
Daemonettes
Hellstriders
Fiend of Slaanesh
The Masque
Herald
Chariot/s

Really not much comapred to  the other 3 (or is it the other 4 now... There's so much that could be done for Slaanesh and explore other aspects about Slaansh apart form claws and ******. I think Slaanesh can be explored so much furtehr, I'd loove to see more mortals of Slaanesh, particularly things like the artwork below, so I guess Slaanesh equivelant to blightkings. Rather than Beastmen or Marauders though I think Slaanesh would eb better suited with some corruted Elves and bring back the Cult of Slaanesh, as Dark Elves are now part of Order I think these guys could fill the role of the sadistic skinning torturing Alefs we know and need. Just a mixed unit of weapons, a captain/chief, a sorceress, and beast would do. Druchii annointed in the style of the kursed from Thor?, big corrupted aelf with claw and horns, just thinking on the keyboard.

As for the Daemons I think the plastics are fine, we need a KoS with the option of a character build, plastic fiends. As for new Daemon units I would love to see something fat as the others have said, the palanquin sounds pretty cool, especially if it were taken punished daemonettes and some huge fat daemons bedecked with jewels and chains (thinking xerxes tent in 300).

Wonderful artwork, that goes right into my Warhammer Inspiration/Slaanesh folder! Love the colours, the black insect-like eyes and the shape of the pauldrons (reminds me of scorpion claws) in particular. Slaaneshi-blightkings was definitely what I had in mind when I suggested "more heavily armoured mortal infantry" earlier in this thread. This dude just needs a weapon, something like a badass curved twohanded sword or a glaive, and he's perfect for it.

(On a slight tangent, I miss forsaken, they were a really cool unit with infinite conversion potential, it's a shame they were cut.)

I think Slaanesh elves are cool, but they should be their own thing rather than a part of the main Slaanesh faction. Could be an update and fluff-change to Daughters of Khaine? Or just the new "dark elf" faction we've been expecting for ages.
