  1. I don't think there was necessarily anything to "drop". They added a handful of models with the StD keyword. That could be the end of the story. A plausible outline of events is this: they planned to make a handful of StD models, then they made a handful of StD models, then they were finished with StD. The only reason we expected a Darkoath/StD/Everchosen combined battletome is because to many in the community it makes sense that they would do it. That's literally as far as the rumour goes - it makes sense to some people in the community for them to do it. They didn't say they were going to do it, nobody (as far as I know) credibly overheard they were going to do it, nothing. It just makes sense to some people that they would do it, and hence "they were going to do it, and since it hasn't happened yet they must have delayed it", and not "hey that thing we made up never happened - maybe it's something wrong with us and not with them". Haha.
  2. I've thought this was an unsupported assumption since day 1, creating false expectations in the community.
  3. You and I know. And some Sacrosanct dudes know. Does Joe Liberator, fifth from the back in his platoon, know why his brain don't work so good no more? Did he know going in that this would happen? I'm not saying Sigmar == Khorne, I'm just saying that the difference between a Chaos Warrior and a Liberator is not as big as was presented.
  4. And there definitely isn't anything unspoken or fishy going on with all those Stormcast deaths and rebirths f-ing up their memories and personalities, nope nothing like that.
  5. I think you could see a situation where different regions have their own references for direction, and some sort of racial memory (or meta-translation into earth-English of the spoken language(s) of the Mortal Realms) uses our cardinal directions - but the local North might not point the same direction as the local North in a different region in the same Realm. So it would be second-nature for local residents, and only confusing for long distance travellers, but probably not any harder to adjust to than timezones here on earth. "Ok, we crossed the border into The Harvest King's Fiefdom, adjust your compass 12 degrees to the west."
  6. Do we still do predictions in the Rumour thread? For Ogors, here is the factor about the resin kits for me - I can't off the top of my head think of a single unit that has been squatted* AFTER being included in an A0S battletome. Am I missing any? We've seen squattings of units that didn't make the cut for the old GA books. Example: Bretonnia We've seen, or anticipate seeing, squattings of units when some GA factions get their own battletomes. Example: all the Cities of Sigmar cuts we are anticipating based on models going out of stock We've seen some squattings as GA units don't make the cut in a later General's Handbook. Example: Gitmob But I don't think (correct me if I'm wrong) we've ever seen any units get squatted going from one edition of a battletome to the next (for those factions who have had more than one). So, if GW were to drop the resin models from the BCR half of Ogors going in to a combined Ogor battletome, that would set a new precedent. Not that they wouldn't or couldn't do it of course, just that it would be something that (to my recollection) they haven't done before. Therefore, I predict that a combined Ogor battletome would include every unit from the BCR battletome. It is only in the Gutbuster/Firebelly/Maneater factions that we might see some cuts. Thank you for listening to my TED talk. *Squat is a relative term in AoS - it really only applies to Matched Play. Anything with a warscroll, no matter how legacy, can still find a place in the other two ways to play of course.
  7. As your Matched Play (TM) opponent, I'd expect you to follow the rules. As your Narrative Play(TM) opponent, we'd jointly find a way to make it work and we could have a fun time (maybe I'd bring a Hellcannon with my Slaves army). (Your thread title and your poll question are asking two different things.)
  8. These metal models also had a layer of polyurethane over top (like, the quasi-plastic stuff you'd use to clearcoat a floor or desk) as I was going through a phase when I first painted them nearly a decade ago... Let's just say I don't do that any more.
  9. Yeah I was interested in trying something new. I have a mild/gentle product I use for plastic, but I wanted to branch out into chemical-land for these metal ones.
  10. Oh boy, I got this new (to me) "non-toxic" paint stripper to clean off some old metal squigs and hoppers, and it is stretching the definition of "non-toxic" as it basically dissolved latex gloves as fast as I could swap them out. Stripped (with a brush) about 20 models, went through 5 pairs of gloves. Hahaha
  11. It's like the GrapeNuts of the mortal realms. Only the opposite of that.
  12. I can help you with this too! 1.No. Flayers and Ghouls do not have the Summonable keyword. 2.Yes. FEC casters have Death and Wizard keywords, which are what trigger the ability. I also see a command ability that will buff FEC casters' range by 6".
  13. I've spent two nights in a row working on old metal models (pinning, scraping off lingering old paint, etc.) and my poor arthritic hands are aching today haha. And I've got a couple more similar nights ahead of me. Worth it to mix old and new squigs together though.
  14. That's the key I think. You can do a whole lot of different stuff (LotR, 3rd party, kits from different eras), and it will all look perfectly fine as long as you don't try to mix and match. You might even be able to mix and match between different unit types (say, a combined army of Empire troops and LotR Dwarves) but not with the same unit types (say, mixing Hammerers and Ironbreakers and LotR Dwarves).
  15. I'm just happy to have remembered I've got 50 Ardboys in a ziploc bag, that I might be able to supplement my Bonesplitters with.
  16. I can help you with this. Each attack is a separate "Attack Sequence". For identical attacks we can roll all the dice together, but each of them is an entirely separate thing. Each 6 To Hit will do 6 MW, and when they say "attack sequence ends", they mean for those 6s, you do the 6MW and then don't move on to rolling To Wound. But all non-6s you will either miss with (and possibly reroll, hello Gruesome Bite!) or hit with, and then roll the hits To Wound like usual.
  17. The main concern I would have is the lack of bodies for holding objectives (10 Spider Riders can dissolve from a mild breeze). I haven't tried the Cluster battalion myself to comment upon it.
  18. Ghoul patrol still works for me. For the 180 you get one more CP, you can put Gruesome Bite on a second AGKoTG, and you can get a big brick of Ghouls over to the other side of the board (in addition to the smaller summoned units)
  19. I think there's a certain type of player who needs a veneer of "officialness" over an event or else it doesn't count. I don't know how prevalent that is, but it's certainly a real observable thing. Like, to this player it's a waste of time to play some sorts of games, but worthwhile to play other sorts of games, depending on how "official" they seem. So for this player, exactly where "official" extends to is very important, because they don't want to waste their time playing someone's house-ruled garage games. And that's not even a wrong way to look at it - it's only wrong when they (I'm not one of them, so it's "they" to me) tell me I'm doing something wrong, or when I tell them they're doing something wrong.
  20. This is completely true, but I think a bit orthogonal to the thread. I don't think anyone disagrees that a TO (or any two consenting players) can do whatever they want. The thread is about how much, if any, of the game can be set to optional and still be considered Matched Play. I don't think you would try to argue that your hypothetical "no To Hit rolls" game could be advertised as Matched Play.
  21. In abstract, I agree 100%. In the reality of our pretend game, it doesn't work that way - all of the random surprises and ambushes and terrain wonderments that *should* force good generals to plan ahead and prepare and make on-the-fly adjustments and figure it out only affect *some* generals. A Stormcast general needs to be able to adapt to Ulgu or Aqshy or Hysh or whatever, and roll with the punches and improvise and hope to battle through adversity. A FEC or DoK general just needs to push it all forward like normal through any set of circumstances with zero consideration or modification, because practically none of the existing terrain or realm or even battleplan variations really force anything out of them.
  22. Buuut, as I said above (and you Liked haha), there are a vast number of One Trick Lists that aren't impacted by realm rules at all. Only some One Trick Ponies are discouraged. My One Trick Pony Feast Day FEC aren't discouraged by a single realm rule. Bring it on, let's roll it randomly at the table - the more restrictive it is, the wider my advantage becomes, I have no care at all. And that's not necessarily right or fair.
