  1. Oh no no, I meant the financial and community boosting success of Age of Sigmar. If GW's profits weren't skyrocketing like they have been then they never would've attempted this when they already have so many projects and specialist games on their plate already. It's definitely the old setting but by "new setting" I meant not the one Wfb set up with crazy high fantasy and even 40k elements leaking in since 7th edition(greenskin spores off Old One starvessels & high elf soul stones to hide from Slaanesh) Old World is looking to be a much simpler setting in comparison. Human focused with a few fantasy races on the sidelines. Like at that point most of the Old World didn't even know what an elf was until Finubar opened up relations some time later! More that the setting looks to be at it's Lord of the Rings roots. (Maybe even in scale, but we'll see).
  2. I like that, the greenhorn paladins who have yet to truly prove their valor to the veterans and carry some uncertainty with them so their stormhost tries to compensate by being closer to eachother and matching their zeal even if it seperates them from the other hosts. Do they have a certain fighting style like disciplined shieldwalls to mirror their closeness or the zeal route with dual swords and two-handed hammers for ferocity? As for mine, I have a Hallowed Knights offshoot called the Heralds of the Cleansing Rain(Strike force liberators focus with Sylvaneth and wanderer allies) who bring forth Sigmar's purifying rain storms to clean the lands and aid the injured. Their main keeps are in the Realm of Ghyran where they study the abundant life magic to further enhance their healing endeavors. Age of Chaos: were just forming and didn't see action until the end with healing the injured from All-gates siege. Age of Hope: After aiding the Seeds of Hope cities they made alliances with the Sylvaneth and brought in Wanderer tribes from Azyr to negotiate settlements for the exiled aelves. Age of Intrigue: With rumblings of war in Aqshy and the new cities there they set out to aid the fire realm, disaster was met with Khornites pirates & the famed Wraith fleet leaving the Sylvaneth allies to retreat and grow ashen forests in the scorched lands awaiting the blessed rain. Malign Portents: pressed hard by Nurgle invasions and Nighthaunt' swarms in Ghyran the Heralds found an alliance with a Deepkin force newly discovered in Chamon. Sending Wanderer emissaries through a silver portal in haste they made a rather troubling deal of accepting the mechanical leviathans aid in exchange for captured Nighthaunt souls for the Deepkin to feast upon. My next army is the said Chamonian Deepkin with their metallic sea beasts from the copper and silver seas i've been building but i'll leave that for later.
  3. Because the old game was a failing mainline product that hurt the company in both the millions it cost them with only a 5% profit and it's generic designs were easy to rip-off by the likes of Avatars of War. That game is dead and buried. Wfb is no more. Old World is a brand new game and setting that is built off the success of Age of Sigmar. There's no telling what will happen with scale but with the game set in such a human-focused civil war of crossbows and catapults with the colleges of magic not even set-up yet it's gonna be a very different beast compared to what high fantasy Wfb was. Way more low fantasy while AoS is what people can play for epic fantasy goodness. More importantly as a specialist sidegame there's no financial risk anymore like there was with Wfb. If it does badly they can just drop it.
  4. Haven't got mine yet (hobby funds suspended due to family & car troubles) but there's some excellent review source from Mengal miniatures: https://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.mengelminiatures.com/2020/02/review-wrath-of-everchosen.html&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwim9-qT8MLnAhWGHzQIHbpMC2MQFjAAegQICBAB&usg=AOvVaw1wkhSXPwzv964VJ_UMdWKD Loved how "oh crud" this moment is for the Hallowed Knights. And Lady Atia's blog: https://war-of-sigmar.herokuapp.com/ Rules: https://war-of-sigmar.herokuapp.com/bloggings/4408 Plus easy to miss Slaanesh sub-faction fluff in the comments.
  5. Warmachines semi-confirmed then. Stormcast/Knights Excelsior had giant ballistaes in Excelsis a year before Sacrosanct released so it can just be fluff decoration(for now). Interesting bit is "finest champions". After this crushing defeat it's possible the Realmlord's release is Teclis reforming their army with new troops, creatures and powers because of how inefficient they were against the Varanguard.
  6. That'd be an interesting mechanic. They could get Stormcast spells as both are divine armies to the realm of heavens and they could extend it to using the starlight nature of the Seraphon so they attune their magical bodies to certain other endless spells they cast to gain the racial positives, so if it's Sylvaneth magic then they benefit from the "Sylvaneth keyword only" exception if they cast the living spell.
  7. Indeed. They're both badasses but it makes an aesthetic sense that the Prime would dominate out of sheer power (before at almost super nova capacity) while a master of undeath and magic gets the upperhand by trickery. As for Olynder, I thought it was pretty awesome how fast she returned for Katakros to order her for a new assualt on the chaos armored highways that took advantage of the Nighthaunt's ethereal nature. It makes the undead foothold all the more daunting to break as death is only a temporary inconvenience to them before they're back turning your own dead against you. Love it.
  8. I love how the archetype already has intrigue and betrayal set-up as a basis for how the player will shape their path going forward. Revenge? Reclaim your crown within the cult? Cut ties with the goddess of shadows and stick with your friends? Trade your friends for the status denied you? Extremely fitting for the denizens of the insidious realm of shadow and those serving their manipulative gods.
  9. I was hoping it'd swing back by now but the chaos cur is ahead. I'll have to alert my discords to help Azyr's finest! Also the official Warhammer Underworlds Facebook posted this glorious Sylvaneth warband based on the seasons. Truly a gift from the goddess of life.
  10. Thought it'd be good idea to update this thread with a link to the current campaign book news. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/01/28/wrath-of-the-everchosen-whats-in-the-bookgw-homepage-post-3/
  11. Archaon outclasses Katakros on multiple fronts by being a 10,000+ old demigod with hundreds of destroyed worlds under his belt Plus is the defender in this campaign so has a resource advantage. By all accounts this invasion is doomed. However Katakros is a military genius and Nagash a chess master so even if things go south there's plenty they can gain from this be it powerful magic artifacts snuck back to Nagash, disrupting Archaon's military rally allowing the realm of death to fortify after the Soul Wars battles or just political publicity as Nagash has struck a blow that Order hasn't yet which, like in Malign Portents against Nurgle, will gain Death many more followers throughout the realms. Edit:whatever your stance you can't disagree the ancient general of Nagash has his work cut out for him.
  12. The sphinx, Celennar. It's a powerful nature spirit and has a similar face to the deer forest spirit seen in the movie. That aside, good release. Really love how the models further emphasize the cultures of the realm of light with a mix of greek, spartan, persian and egyptian to go with the plane of eternal light and golden wisdom upon the flying paradise archipelagoes amidst the endless deserts. With the basic troops out of the way and the heroes being so exotic and fantastical i'm interested in what new stuff they give for new aelves. I'm hoping at least more new Hysh beasts and spirit armors for the souls Teclis couldn't save so put in armor to keep that "perfect" look.
  13. Yeah, those are perfect for Greywater Fastness armies and realm of metal conversions.
  14. The Hollow Armor and Celennar are pure wins here. Teclis and the rest do a decent job of showing off the realm of Hysh aesthetic but are pretty bland otherwise, horse legs look stiff and the hoplites kinda repeat the model. However that's perfectly fine because they're the basic troops. Can't wait to see what fantastical wonders we see from the realm of light after this and more is revealed. It will be very...enLightening. (Also yes to Greywater conversions, very awesome)
  15. Ditto, for a small update last year would've been perfect to keep it in-line with all the other updated first-draft tomes and have the Seraphon focus on the Soul Wars living spells which would've fit with their magic specialty nature of commanding those eldritch natural disasters for a greater purpose. With the new Ghur focus it feels hopeful for a Gloomspite-level revamp to go along with the new models and plots. Less mystical cosmos focus and more putting ferocious warriors on the ground to match the tone. We'll have to see.
  16. This is my bet. Morathi has a War aspect, the Deepkin manifestation has one and Alarielle is permanently in hers (thus the plot point of Sigmar trying to get her to leave it and bring balance), so it's very likely Teclis will get one and the version we saw was his "contained" form. In "Pantheon" he's described as a being of light without a body during the Age of Myth and in the Corebook we get examples of Hysh wizards fusing with the realm and becoming like that so my guess is he'll blow up into a huge light diety when he really lets his magic loose. As for Tyrion i'm betting he's a later release. It's hard to believe he wouldn't be advertised, or even mentioned, too since the brothers have been connected at the hip in the lore so much. Which is a good thing, imo. More new armies down the road. He can bring more new aelves, Deepkin and even other races that worship the light or knightly martial traditions.
  17. Yep! The Ogor Mawtribes is a fantastic tome all-round and this is a big highlight to that.
  18. Late to the party but for a future game with your friends and the Ogor army you can do the Mawtribes battleplan of two warlords going at it while trying to hire the third Ogor player's forces (or get creative and narrative use another mercenary force or even treat the Ogors like a endless spell that just keeps turning control between the two players) "Two rival warlords locked in a long and bitter war each march on Gorkmaw’s Gullet, a vital mountain pass in the Ghurish hinterlands, intent on entering enemy territory and crushing their opponent at last. However, upon arrival, they find a band of notorious ogor mercenaries camped in the pass. Their delegations meet with the sellsword leader, who demands a tribute of flesh and bone if either side is to secure his services. At first, supplies and provisions are readily offered, but the mercenary lord soon turns his greedy eyes upon the camped forces, his stomach growling… At daybreak, war horns blare as the early morning mist rises from the shadow of the pass. The ogor army feasted the night before and now stands eager to fight, but which of his would-be employers was desperate enough to offer their own soldiers in bloody tribute? TRIUMPH & TREACHERY This is a Triumph & Treachery battle for three players. Use the Triumph & Treachery rules from the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Core Book. Secret Objectives are not used in this battle. Furthermore, players do not pick an opponent to be their enemy at the start of each phase. Instead, the following rules will explain which opponent is considered the enemy of each player. OBJECTIVES This battle is fought to control six objectives. One objective is located in each player’s territory, as shown on the map. The Ogor Mawtribes player cannot control objectives this battle, and units from their army are not counted when checking to see if either Rival player has gained control of any objectives." Late I know but Ogor-approved food for thought.
  19. Well one, Matt is not writing for them anymore to make his armies OP and two the old speed of light spell changed from giving that to a Hysh realm spell that just teleports your unit close to an enemy. So if anything Hysh Aelves will be zooming around the board to show off their speed. As for the rumor engine. No clue. Could be exotic head-dress for Aelves, steampunk Chamonians or Seraphon who all have exotic overtones for it and now thanks to the Deepkin jokes I could see it being a tail fin and the base is just jewelry the handlers gave it.
  20. Ohh, I like the new Warhammer music. Sounds like Witcher leading into Fable.
  21. He could be seen as the fluid shifting nature of Chamon also caused him and possible fellow Chamonions to have more malleable forms. Similar to how Ghyran caused it's mortal sexes to seperate between the female continent of Virdea and male continents that only come together when the continents mate and produce new lands before they and the male and female mortals seperate again. Until we see more realm-native human art it's a bit hard to tell just how far the magic make-up of everything controls even the mortal forms. However I agree with your second point he's likely ceremonial and possible royalty. On "warhammer art" context for the setting, the giant red magic crystal he has and the background of Chamon in the Corebook that comes before his pic can provide something though. In Chamon most precious minerals are worthless because of how common the are to where there's seas of gold, Grungni in his time used this by evenly dividing the continents and making economies of plenty for all his followers. But after he left and when more powerful magical minerals and realm-stones were discovered they had a gold rush that warped the economy of equality Grungni had set-up. So then there was beggars with gold and royals with realmstone. So the giant magic crystal marks him out as very wealthy nobility and why he appears ceremonial.
  22. Oh neat. From the Cubicle 7 facebook they announced E.N World took surveys of the most anticipated rpg's of 2020 and Age of Sigmar: SoulBound made 5th place out of 10! https://www.enworld.org/threads/here-are-2020s-most-anticipated-tabletop-rpgs.669761/
  23. Well a realm of magic metals, made up of thousands of floating continents, trees /animals that are metal hybrids and usually exotic natives like Chamon desert dwellers in light-metal garbs, oriental mountain-folk making metallic tapestries from crushed jade and silver thread or the native tribes seen in "Red Hour" who have actual-gold tattoos because precious minerals are everywhere to where even the Lantic Empire made solid gold roads to all it's fortresses there. If you don't like fantastical or over-the-top then the realm of metal isn't for you. But hey, that leaves 7 other realms for you so you'll likely find something better to your tastes elsewhere.
  24. Yeah, I feel it's an exotic choice. Chamon's all about the surreal. Like right next to his picture in the white dwarf version it goes to talk about how that realm is much more fluid than the others in it's make-up and eldritch to where looking at the constantly forming edges can lead one to madness. With how they go in about the strange alchemical properties of Chamon and it's metals I wouldn't be surprised if his metal clothes bend easily but harden on impacts as well making that more comfortable than it appears. That's a neat thing about Chamon, you'd think "metal" means solid and rigid like how most genres portray an earth element but instead they went for more a water element with the realm always shifting and changing emphasizing it's alchemy side.(and why Tzeentch desires it)
  25. Oh definitely, they lost their forge kingdoms after the Realmgate wars and Order took back most of Aqshy's heartlands but the Furnace kings coming back for another big chaos offensive and rebuilding their dreadholds and chaos forges would make a great faction release (plus more scenery and siege terrain ). Haha, honestly wouldn't be surprised. Even the meat in Chamon has metal pits in it that people have to spit out. The art is from the AoS corebook(plus last years white dwarfs for each realm overview). Every realm section describing them in the book starts with a human from that realm. Basically take that realm's concept, turn it into clothes and accesories cranked up to twelve and you got them. Huge reason why I'm looking forward to an actual human release. These designs are wild and would be fantastic immersion for playing in the Mortal Realms.
