  1. So the grapnel Errata says you cant be within 3" of enemy at any point in the move, so cant move over other units now? If it just meant at the end it would have said that? (we see that wording everywhere). So its worded as it were a normal move, for someone walking on the ground, not like a flying move? How do we use grapnels now? Moving up early game? (i do this now, i call it the suicide move) Hold back and jump across to plug gaps? Wait until youve shot everyone off the board and then jump to an objective?
  2. I dont know about you but im expecting to face a LOT of nighthaunt for the 2nd half of this year. In my club, rend will almost become pointless.
  3. Oops, yeah sorry, thought it was just a 'not move' caveat previously. Interesting our shooters can now move and double shoot, will make Dispossessed a lot quicker on the table. I do like re-roll saves from 'Shield-wall' but with warriors when your against something with rend, I find it better to get the guaranteed 4" run and take table space, or get in charges of my own.
  4. Base sizes given for artillery now. Sizes seem a little excessive mind 90mm ovals? Can fit most on 60mm rounds.
  5. I don’t get the need to put in the 3” rules? They already cut shooting strength by only targeting units within 3”, now they reduce the effectiveness of those units further. When were Dispossessed smashing up tables?
  6. And can’t grapnel if they start within 3”. Bit like no shooting out of combat I suppose. I guess we could still do a normal retreat in the move phase and then grapnel as they haven’t banned that (yet ?)
  7. More shields is good, but if they have something hitting you hard enough to be taking out Ironbreakers then you probably want to be shooting at it?
  8. Mobility is certainly something you need to be aware of to win matched play scenarios, but while Dwarfs are slow(er) they can still move enough as long as they dont stand still every turn and charge rather than just be charged. We also have the pick-axe artefact as a good option as additional movement shenanigans. 4 Ballista... Love it! I have 2 or 3 (i forget) lead Dwarf ballista im thinking of using as stand-ins ?
  9. Remember, Soul-Wars is the second 'season' of AoS, so that could be anything from 1 year to 4 or more, plenty of time to bring out a few new or re-imagined races each year until GW decide the next direction for AoS, or Ao? maybe!
  10. Seriously, thanks for responding to the feedback given. I had an amazing time last year but felt there could be some 'easy wins' to improve this year, i think more posts along that line would only expand support for the event and show how you cater for the players. No, you might be ok with a bottle of pop or water (I did last year) but not anything stronger, really though nothing is allowed so presume as such. Water fountains could be found last year and sound like will be more this year.
  11. Congrats on the result at LGT! Looking forward to the rundown, i dont have a Ziflin list but toying with splitting my Wardens into 3x3 instead of a single unit of 9 for AGOM this weekend.
  12. Your not really helping him are you ?. A quick PM could have avoided any embarrassment and kept a sneaky rumour option for us, youve stomped that now.
  13. You see this is very much a culture thing i was talking about. It sounds so bizarre that you would expect people to only think of themselves. But then maybe thats why the British are so good a queuing ... after you, no, after you ?
  14. I think it depends entirely on what you want to get out the game but I do think matched play focus has spoiled it to an extent as kids these days are expecting to have 1000/2000pt armies to play the game at all. When i started playing warhammer in the 90's we played open play before it was a specific thing (everyone did), because we didnt have enough money for much more then the box game. We just put models on the table (or floor) and played with them, if it was unbalanced we just brought models back in as reinforcements, we didnt obsess over points because that would mean I couldnt use the blister of 3 dwarf hammerers id just bought with my pocket money or my mate couldnt use his birthday present Orc Wyvern. Certainly match play should be something new players aim at because its a good way to learn the games finer details, but its not the only way to start.
  15. It looks like its painted and a black and white picture. The bottom of the pic is obviously base level as you can see scraps of basing material. Looks almost like a flower or exploding spore pod.
  16. The front unit has sword and halberds. So mixed weapon unit, not 2 options. That unit right at the back is armed the same. Both units of bow armed warriors have models with knives and bows, so again i think thats the opition. The poses on these do look noticeably different though so i dont think its a one-box-2 builds thing.
  17. ?? They were touted as his failed first attempt, why would he tag along with them?
  18. An entire new factions and sad at no surprises?
  19. Thanks DM, the general was going to be based on an Excelsior Warpriest, but i seem to have lost the model somewhere so it might not happen. It was an idea i came up with entirely on my own, or at least i thought i had until i stumbled on something in my browser history (no not that) and remembered id seen this late last year. Great blog and another Tempest and Dwarf player!
  20. I decided to email them since I was suggesting people should, got the expected 'no plans to release this' response. Hopefully if more of us email them or post of FB pages they might actually do it
  21. 'War in the North' rages on and the Forces of Titanspear muster to defend their territory from friend and foe alike. So ive avoided posting until I had something to show but now we are halfway through Month one of our little groups escalation collect-and-paint I have managed to paint up the bulk of my first batch. Needing to build a core for further expansion I went with 20 freeguild guard in 2 units, a general to command them, and an Archmage as the start of the Aelven part of the force. Month 1 - March 2018 LeadersFreeguild General (100)- Stately War BannerArchmage (120)Battleline10 x Freeguild Guard (80)10 x Freeguild Guard (80)Total: 380 / 400 So far my painting has produced 7 Freeguild to a good level, 7 to a basic level, 6 base coat. My general has gone walkabout so he need found and ive just put together my Archmage. Here are the almost complete Freeguild Guard (with Tempest Lord Stormcast support), final highlights, shields and basing to go. Ive used Bretonnian models as they suit the theme of Tempest Eye and the Tempest Lords Stormcast (and i have them already). My Archmage is now assembled ready for primer. Obviously its a conversion, based on the Mistweaver model with a different head (Sister of the Watch) and arms (Doomfire warlocks, Sisters of Silence and Island-of-Blood Archmage staff). Pretty happy with it, cant wait to paint!
  22. Yeah I figured that out on the preview, as its the same approach they did for the 40k board, which they have yet to release the larger sprue separately. Its a bigger size so doesnt fit in their current boxing sizes nicely. I guess it could come out as part of a bundle at some point but dont see it being released separate in the shops. I wonder if we could persuade them to do a direct-only sale of that sprue?
  23. There are a lot of factors at trade shows like this. What they said in the past is of low importance if business models and financials say today is a bad day to release.
