  1. It will be my first year at Blood and Glory just creating the discussion so anyone who's going can post maybe get to know a few people before going up. Also for us newbs to B+G can ask the old Vets any question. Also bit of banter is always fun.
  2. Hi everyone. I want to share with you all the details for Blood and Glory 2018. THE BAD DICE GAMING CONVENTION ——BLOOD AND GLORY 2018—— THE ROUND HOUSE, DERBY, UK This is the 6th year we have ran Blood and Glory the event is being turned up to 11! Last year we had a brand new spectacular venue and will be continuing expanding to include not only Age of Sigmar, 40k and Horus Heresy but also a full range of Games Workshop game systems. If you have been a member of this community for a while you will have seen my post about how I feel about Warhammer and TGA.Community, well this is the exact feeling that we will be bringing to Blood and Glory. This event is set to be the biggest and best Bad Dice event yet. We have an amazing new venue that can hold up to 700 players and we intend to fill it! The Age of Sigmar and 40k Matched Play GT’s are going to be huge but we also have plenty going on for players who prefer Narrative and Open play. Warhammer Achievements is a Age of Sigmar Narrative play event and we are welcoming the Imperial Truth team who are running a Horus Heresy narrative event. So if you want to test your AoS and 40k skills against the best players in the world, see amazing painted models and hang out for a weekend of gaming then grab a ticket before they sell out. Event Information Date: 2/3/4 NOVEMBER 2018 Location: THE ROUNDHOUSE, ROUNDHOUSE ROAD, PRIDE PARK, DERBY, DE24 8JE Systems: Age Of Sigmar, Warhammer 40k, Horus Heresy, Necromunda TICKETS ON SALE NOW AT BLOODANDGLORY.BADDICE.CO.UK Warhammer Age of Sigmar AoS 2 matched play 2000 Points 5 games, 2 day event. Bad Dice Rankings Event B&G18_AoS_V-0.1.pdf The Blood and Glory Age of Sigmar rules pack is here. This pack is 100% set in stone, there will however be an ADDITION to the pack to regarding TIEBREAKERS as a 200 player event with 5 rounds will result in a high number of players being on the same points totals for each bracket. We are working on a secondary objective system that will be in play in each of the games in the AoS Championships. These secondary objectives are still to be confirmed. This will not change the result of a game, the battle plan will still decide that, but they will be the difference in who will win the event when 2 players are on equal battlepoints. I want to post these by the 1st October but we 'Might' leave it until registration to ensure they are properly tested. Warhammer 40,000 New 40k Rules 5 games, 2 day event. ITC Event Horus Heresy, Warhammer Achievements, Shadespire, Necromunda, Titanicus, Bloodbowl and more details to be released soon. Seminars, specialist games, Painting Contests and lots more to be announced. More information to be revealed in the coming weeks. It’s worth underlining the Bad Dice Team’s aim for this whole event. It goes without saying that we want everyone to leave having had an amazing weekend. We also want to give players new to the tournament scene the chance to jump in without feeling total out of their depth while giving the regulars an event that they will be more than happy to recommend to their friends and can’t wait to attend again the following year. We want to celebrate all areas of the hobby but keep the competitive edge that is part of the fun of tournament gaming. My personal highlight from most of the events I have attended over the years is the social side. The events that stick in the memory are the ones that offer lots for the players to do and keeps them gathered in one place in the evenings. We will make sure that no matter your preference for a tournament evening, we should have something on offer to keep you entertained and having a great time. Between the Bad Dice team, and our huge list of advisors, helpers and contributors we have attended and organised 100’s of events, this lets us see what works well, what we like and dislike and what we want to bring to Blood & Glory. The event is taking place at the Roundhouse in Derby. A beautifully renovated listed building that is the perfect setting for a gaming event. The Bad Dice event ethos is firmly in place here, we want to see amazing armies on the best gaming tables with game mats and terrain on each board. Gamers of all levels of experience are welcome from total newcomers to the hobby right up to grizzled veterans, we have something for everyone. Here are some photos from last years event. http://roundhouse-events.co.uk Check out the video below for a better look . Questions? If you have any questions at all about this event feel free to get in touch. You can contact Ben all over the web! 3. Event Title: Warhammer Achievements 6 Event Author: @StevewrenCalendar: Events UKEvent Date: 02/11/2018 12:00 PM to 04/11/2018 5.00PM What is Warhammer Achievements? Warhammer Achievements 6 is a five game Narrative Play Age of Sigmar event that will be running at Ben Curry’s’ Blood and Glory tournament in Derby on the 2rd to the 4th November 2018. The event is unique amongst the UK tournament scene as possibly the only event that can be won by a player that loses all their games. You heard me right! If you are hopeless at winning Age of Sigmar games this could well be the event for you…! Instead the event is scored using Achievements that can be gained throughout the five games, how you painted and selected your army, how sporting you are, and a few miscellaneous ones that will be announced in the lead up to the event. In all there are 99 achievements available, and the winner will be the player that achieves the most. Tell me more about the Achievements, they sound great… Achievements come in many shapes and sizes. There are 50 in game achievements available to players. 25 of them can be achieved in any game, and the other 25 are broken down into each game and can only be claimed in that game. They include things such as using 3 or more command abilities in a turn, completing a turn 1 charge, wiping out a unit in a single turn, and passing a bravery test on a 1. The painting ones are scored by including freehand in your army, having some non-metallic metal, including vintage Games Workshop models, and showing off some conversions in your army. You also get achievements through your unit choice and army selection, and through playing the game in a sporting manner. There has also been a tradition where you can gain negative achievements, which will take points away (however there is also an award for getting the most of these as well!) DOWNLOAD THE EVENT RULES PACK HERE Updated 22nd October 18 Warhammer Achievements 6 - Rules Pack Version 1.6.pdf DOWNLOAD THE SCENARIO PACK HERE Updated 10th August 18 Warhammer Achievements 6 Scenario Pack Version 1.4pdf DOWNLOAD THE ATLAS HERE Updated 29th October 18 The Atlas (Table Maps 16/20).pdf That all sounds well and good, but what is the gaming like? I’m glad you asked. Once again this year we are running the event over two days with games at variable point values from 1600 to 2500 points. Each game will have a challenging scenario, and winning this will allow you to claim the major objective.. All the games will be on custom designed and themed tables with their own special table objectives. These will make up the secondary objectives. The tertiary objectives are still being created in association wit the Ruinous Powers... The player with the highest number of Battlepoints over the weekend will be crowned the Best General at the event (we like to reward gaming skill as well). Where does the Narrative part come from? This year we are wandering the Realms, searching for the source of the upsurge in magical activity that is permeating the lands. Realmstone can be gained and used to power your factions, or kept for yourself to use in game. Full realm rules will be in effect on every table, and you'll need to start working on your Realm Walker model... All the scenarios are based on the Malign Sorcery narrative battle plans which have been adapted subtly to fit the Warhammer Achievements event. Check out the Scenario Pack for more details. How important is painting at Warhammer Achievements? Very! All the organisers of the event have been much more successful painting armies than winning games and the Best Painted Army award has been hard fought over previous years. We encourage you to bring the army and models that you have spent the most time and put the most effort into and these will probably be the ones that you are most proud of, especially if you can gain the most achievements from them. The chances are your best models will tick the most achievement boxes to, so it should be a win-win situation. Age of Sigmar is a very aesthetic game and we know that tables are going look great, so we want the armies to look awesome as well. That all sounds great – sign me up! If you like the sound of this then get yourselves over to the Bad Dice website and purchase your ticket today. Warhammer Achievements is will be limited to 30 players initially so if you want to take part in this unique event then you’ll need to sign up fast as the tickets will be going quick, especially as there may be achievements up for grabs for the first people to sign up. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ BUY TICKETS HERE... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you want to stay up to date on how the tables are coming on and how the rules pack is shaping up then follow me on Twitter @stevewren for all the latest news from Warhammer Achievements and Blood and Glory. SCENERY UPDATES AND RANDOM WARHAMMER ACHIEVEMENT STUFF - Coming Soon... You can find this on my Blog post here on TGA Questions? If you have any questions at all about this event feel free to get in touch. You can contact me on the TGA boards, either in this thread or via the Messaging function. Questions? 5. Event Title: Warhammer Achievements 5 - part of the Bad Dice Gaming ConventionEvent Author: @StevewrenCalendar: Events UKEvent Date: 11/03/2017 12:00 AM to 11/05/2017 12:00 AM What is Warhammer Achievements? Warhammer Achievements 5 is a five game Narrative Play Age of Sigmar event that will be running at Ben Curry’s’ Blood and Glory tournament in Derby on the 3rd to the 5th November 2017. They include things such as failing a charge with a double 1, completing a turn 1 charge, wiping out a unit in a single turn, and passing a bravery test on a 1. The painting ones are scored by including freehand in your army, having some non-metallic metal, including vintage Games Workshop models, and showing off some conversions in your army. You also get achievements through your unit choice and army selection, and through playing the game in a sporting manner. There has also been a tradition where you can gain negative achievements, which will take points away (however there is also an award for getting the most of these as well!) DOWNLOAD THE EVENT RULES PACK HERE Warhammer Achievements 5 - Rules Pack.pdf DOWNLOAD THE SCENARIO PACK HERE Warhammee Achievement 5 - Scenario Pack.pdf That all sounds well and good, but what is the gaming like? I’m glad you asked. This year we are running the event over two days (a first for Warhammer Achievements) with games at variable point values from 1600 to 2500 points. There will also be a doubles game on the first day so you can team up with a friend for double the fun. Each game will have a challenging scenario, and winning this will allow you to claim the major objective, worth 7 Battlepoints. All the games will be on custom designed and themed tables with their own special table objectives. These will make up the secondary objectives and are worth 5 Battlepoints. The tertiary objectives (worth up to 3 points) come from strategy cards that you can play during the games. The player with the highest number of Battlepoints over the weekend will be crowned the Best General at the event (we like to reward gaming skill as well). Where does the Narrative part come from? One of the things we pride ourselves on is having a narrative that runs through the games. The escalating points allows the army to develop throughout the five games, with your full 2500 point force contesting the final scenario. We have called it The Heroes Journey and there will be Legacy Game style stickers that you can add to your Player Pack as the weekend progresses, so that the event becomes personalised to each player and you actually go on your own journey. One of the things that we are looking for this year is to include five unique and difficult to achieve Grand Alliance Objectives. These can be claimed by any player of that GA and will be themed around the story and background of each one. Your General will have the ability to earn Blood Sacrifice points during the games which will allow you to transform your general in to a ferocious combat beast, hopefully allowing you to pull victory from the jaws of defeat and carry the day for your forces. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you want to stay up to date on how the tables are coming on and how the rules pack is shaping up then follow me on Twitter @stevewren and make sure you tune into the Bad Dice Podcast shows for all the latest news from Warhammer Achievements and Blood and Glory. 6. Bloodied & Glorious The Hammerers embarked on another new adventure in the mortal realms in November. This time we attended the 'Blood & Glory' matched play event, run … https://hampshirehammerers.wordpress.com/2016/12/13/bloodied-glorious/
  7. As I expect Ben is crazy busy setting up stuff for the weekend, I'll post this for him. BLOOD AND GLORY IS BEING STREAMED ON TWITCH! Make sure you tune in for some awesome games coverage!
  8. Now that the Balewind is pointed and not frowned upon so much I was thinking of taking it my Destruction list to Blood & Glory. The list I've been playing is based around getting Foot of Gork off, I'd love to come back with some great stories of it stomping things to death. So far I've been running 2 shamans surrounded by boyz (+2 to cast), but it's just not working. At first I had 2 attempts to get it off per turn, but no longer. I haven't managed to get it to go off for the last 5 games! So I was thinking of dropping the 2nd Shaman and paying for the Balewind. +2 from the boyz and +1 from the Balewind should improve my chances. Would now cast on 7+. However, my boyz can't be within 3" of the Balewind so I'm gonna struggle to get them in, they have to be within 10" of the Shaman when he casts. Would I measure this? From the base of the Balewind (that's not too bad) or from the Shaman model himself? if so, diagonally? Along and up? (that would make it not worth using for this plan). This also raises the question, when casting a spell from on top of the Balewind, would you measure from the shaman model of the base of the Balewind? Less worried about this, but I guess the same answer should apply to both yes? I'm mainly interested in running this for Blood & Glory so I guess if it's not clear, it's however Ben thinks it should be.. Ta!
