  1. Congrats, Melcavuk!!! Wonderful army, you should be proud of such an achievement :).
  2. Hi Trevelyan, Thanks for the feedback, I've got a few games under my belt, but I'm still relatively new to AoS, especially Sylvaneth. I can definitely take a unit of six hunters w/ scythes. Should I drop the third unit of Hunters and try to take something else? What would you recommend? (Or anyone :)) Could fit in another 10 man unit of Spites and a Branchwraith.
  3. So the idea is for this list to take Drycha, have her summon the skullroot, and bravery bomb with the Spite Revs + Outcasts Battalion. Durthu will follow Kurnoth Hunters, if they're scythes, or may act more defensively if I take bows. Arch-Rev is meant to buff bows with the rerolls of one and the extra attack command trait. If I didn't take the bows, I think I'd swap her out for a Brachwraith. Spiteswarm hive will either help Kurnoth Hunters and Durthu with their threat range, or buff the saves on the spite-revs. Winterleaf: 1x Spirit of Durthu: My Heart is Ice, Frozen Kernal 1x Arch Revenant, lifewreath or Hysh command point artefact 1x Drycha Hamadreth w/ Verduous Harmony 20x Spite Revs 10 Spite Revs 10 Spite Revs 3x Kurnoth Hunters w/ Scythes 3x Kurnoth Hunters w/ Bows or Scythes 3x Kurnoth Hunters w/ Bows or Scythes Outcasts Battalion Spiteswarm Hive Vengeful Skullroot What do you guys think?
  4. Nice, I've got to get around to painting my own Guardians at some point... sucks that their AoS rules were changed. Guess GW thought that making T-Revs more useful was too much lol. I'm curious on how you did the weapons on the kurnoth hunters? The orange is shiny and vibrant enough to almost look metallic. Would love to know your process for that.
  5. Glorious frostlord, now that's some next level painting right there 😎!!!
  6. Going back and making some touch-ups, changes on the Treelord. Still WIP, will start adding highlights overtime, don't have the energy to spend all day on this one today lol. Still need to pick out leaves and change the color of the inner wood I think. I'm not really liking the plaguebearer green there. Before: After:
  7. Thanks, Tommy, that means a lot!!! Learned a lot this year, but there's so much more to learn!
  8. Am taking a break from the brush for a little while. Realized that I was trying to churn out miniatures too quickly, and not only burning myself out a little, but not getting models up to my usual standard (which is sometimes just tabletop, other times a bit more). I'm thinking on what I can do to achieve better results, and first thing is that I think I'm relying on contrast too much because I have mostly air paints to use alongside it... which doesn't leave me many alternatives to just hand brushing stuff... Going to try and mix and match traditional and contrast schemes and see what I get out of it. Also, let me know if you guys want any lore on these three armies! I do have backstories for them, but no point fleshing them out if no one wants to see them lol.
  9. Busy weekend! So, I'll start with what I'm happy with ;D: And then what I'm not so happy with after speed painting them >:(:
  10. Went back and touched up some of the Kurnoth Hunters, then finished and based about 3 squads. Still need Greatswords!
  11. W.I.P. Akhelian King, here's what I've gotten so far. I'm finding it difficult to highlight the filigree on the armor, it's super small and annoying lol, but I'll figure it out. Contrast has made me rusty, I suppose lol!
  12. Hi Painbringer, thanks for the compliment on my Sylvaneth, that's appreciated! I'm not aiming for an alliance of Earth and Sea. I'm currently building three armies - Daughters of Khaine, Sylvaneth, and Idoneth. I'm building them as separate armies right now. Hopefully they'll turn out as good as yours when I start highlighting.
  13. I actually just discovered this thread, but funny enough, I was aiming for a similar scheme with my Sylvaneth! Except mine are autumn! Yours are far better than my current ones right now, I still need to highlight mine up. Great job, man, these are absolutely wonderful! Also cool Bloodthirster! Milk for the Khorne Flakes, Butter for the Pop corn, etc.
  14. Post Service Announcement: Just so it is known, I plan to continue all of these contrast models with further highlighting in the future. Right now, I am just trying to get all of my models to tabletop standard, which I have a ton😅. Once I've done all of that and completed the bases, I will move onto the highlighting stage. Sorry if it seemed that I wouldn't take it to that level, nothing wrong with tabletop standard, but I feel like I should try to go all the way. Especially since I'm accelerating this whole process, for me at least, at an unsuspected speed. Kurnoth Hunter #3:
  15. Is it too late to join? If so, I'll wait for next month :).
  16. Eidolon is still work in progress! I still need to highlight the waves, not sure with what. I was supposed to highlight them before using contrast to create the various shades of blue you see in the wave. Working on the Leviadon too!
  17. As an Aelf Fan of all varieties, I have to give my stamp of approval for this magnificent army. Glorious, may their banners fly triumphant over many battles!
  18. Cool test, Brother Dimetrius, I've also been finding some cool results with my test models for Aelves of all stripes! Just wanted to say, that I found the most success with thinning generously with the new contrast medium, then layering a second or third coat after the initial one dries. It makes it much more opaque in the end and looks much smoother than my initial attempts!
  19. Thanks, Kenshin, glad that you like them :D. Here's something else that I painted tonight!
