  1. Love the blending. Great work.
  2. Fantastic work @elfhead. Love the colours on the Corsair and the conversion for the banner. The octothrall is immense too! What is your grey highlight recipe for the black on the banner please?
  3. Teacher representing here too. You've got a lot more done than I have though! It's coming together nicely. I'm glad my son wasn't bothered either way out of 40k or AoS, but we've played a few open games now so he's starting to really get AoS. It helps he's got nearly 2k of Stormcast too ? Can't blame your daughter, love all the Eldar (called Aeldari now??)
  4. Fairly certain that the Assassin can go in any unit.
  5. That looks more Slaaneshi to me than Aelven, but we don't necessarily have any clue about Malerion's Aelves other than he's now pictured as half dragon... Which I guess that could be considered as dragon like. I still put money on Slaanesh given the assumptions people are making about Chaos release dates and other rumours.
  6. @Bosmer Nightbladesold me a massive box of Dark Aelves. Very fair price, very well packaged.
  7. I live about 10mins from Warhammer World and have a few friends who work for either GW or their distribution (Great Bear I think manage their logistics). Last I heard, we're talking major investment into plastic equipment. Stock has to be shifted around because of storage capacity and distribution. It'll all catch up, but I imagine GW will just focus on key lines until the new production stuff is in place.
  8. Good luck at Gen Con! You deserve some reward for these. Your commitment to this painting style is admirable, but to complete it so consistently is even more impressive. Nice one.
  9. Great start. Have you got a list in mind yet?
  10. I agree @Overread, especially when you see in the Core Book the tiny space given to the little factions. They all have their parts to play in the free cities, especially the Scourge Privateers, Swifthawks etc. They might never get a combined book either though, if the intention is to quietly just let them all disappear in the fullness of time. I mean, how long can they stock and shelve half the range they have and then release two more Aelven lines etc (which arguably will be the biggest ones yet). I can only speak for Order, especially Aelves, as I've no idea of the state of other lines really. I know what I'd like to see, but I'd be wish-listing.
  11. I've been continuing with my drakespawn knights. 3 main colours have all been applied and washed on 15 of them. "Malus" was done ages ago. I've also been working on my son's Stormcast. He's applied a wash to all of the Liberators and the Retributors. I bought him the new Knight Incantor, 2 Ballista, kitbashed a Lord-Ordinator from a Sequitor, and finally, topped up his Liberators with 2 easy to build ones and Steelheart's Champions. Complete force: He now has 3x Liberators, using Severin as a Prime with Greatsword, Obryn in another unit with Grandhammer and Angharad to add some variety of the feminine kind to another. New Knight-Incantor. I've also added broken tiles to all of the models. Along with a couple of the texture paints and some smaller rocks, I'm hoping to merge in the excellent Shadespire type bases. Ballista and kitbashed Lord-Ordinator: Easy to Build Liberator. The head is from Necromunda, and is an alternate style to the Lord-Ordinator one I used too. I'd love to get a Greatsword or Grandhammer for this model, but finding one is impossible it seems: I'll pick up a box of Evocators on Dracolines and that'll make a comfortable 2k list with some Stormcast endless spells too.
  12. You can well imagine then that if we start the year with Slaanesh, that the story progresses and we'll see the final two aelven factions by end of 2019. Maybe they'll be on a 'hunt Slaanesh' mission, or they'll be on a defensive footing with an unleashed Slaanesh attacking Hysh and Ulgu. It'll be really interesting if perhaps, because they talk of Ulgu and Hysh being so intertwined in the Core Book, that maybe it'll be one huge Ulg-Hysh faction with dual leaders in Malerion and Tyrion/Teclis. Don't see that myself however, but I'm really intrigued to see how it all pans out. It's another excellent aspect to the Soul Wars. (Selfishly, I'm happy that the Malerion aelves seem to be a mile off so I can finish what I've already got!)
  13. Great vid for magnetising. Will do this myself when the time comes.
  14. I'll be really interested to see the shot in the arm that the realm rules, endless spells etc can give none Battletome armies. Having the casting bonuses when sacrificing is something I've shifted to in AoS2 for my Order Serpentis army, allying in Shards or Spears as fodder for a sorceress. Cogs feel like a must, and can make one of your casters seriously powerful. Dragon base size I think is daft, officially. I did suggest that they go on the 120mm as per the High Elf dragons, and I've got mine on 120s. The 105 bases (I tried) were really unstable. And, when next to both the hydra and the chariot, looked silly that this big dragon was on a smaller base. However, you'll have to check your tournament pack I guess?
  15. I noticed this the other day using Warscroll Builder. I built my Order Serpentis army as usual, which obviously has battleline-if options, and if you change allegiance to Anvilgard it makes it invalid (highlights red).
  16. I've made a thread for Order Serpentis and your thoughts mirror mine exactly. I love the idea of the Dimensional Blade on the General (with Legendary Fighter) and the Doppleganger on the other dragon or the Sword of Judgment... Maybe even Spellmirror. I'm taking a 2nd hydra to get myself up to around 1650 with the Battalion, then look to take a Sorceress and 10 Dreadspears/Shards (for casting bonuses), Chronomatic Cogs and Geminids. That maintains Anvilgard too. See my sig for discussion, your input would be very welcome!
  17. Great post @Kaleun. That's how I feel about none-faction artefacts, but wondered if there was a clear official line on it. With the SoBD now being 280 points she's a lot more viable. Have you considered using something like the Doppleganger Cloak on her from Ulgu? If I remember right, unless she fights she cannot be targeted.
  18. Awesome to hear. I applaud all Druchii victories. There was a discussion around allies taking artefacts (or not) on a thread here the other day. I was always under the impression that GA artefacts (and by extension Malign Sorcery) could be taken by allies, but some argued allies can't take them. I see you used the sword on the Assassin (which I like the idea of too).
  19. Yes that makes sense. I did similar when I did the claws on my Drakespawn. I didn't think carefully enough about the colour scheme in general because I think I would have done grey horns and claws with the underbelly being a similar colour to the claws. I just had to go more extreme with the highlights. You can see with work like yours that not only is the painting first rate, but your decisions are well considered. It all makes a difference.
  20. Awesome as always. Love the horns on the Dracoth. I always do horns the other way around, but they're very striking light to dark points.
  21. Is this going to end up as a Mixed Order army with the ally changes then? Lord Arcanum on Tauralon, 3x5 Sequitors? As an owner of a non-Battletome army myself, it's annoyed the hell out of me that I couldn't take 2x Sorceress and 2x Ballista for the points, because my army is low unit count with 2 dragons and 2 hydras. I saw all this on Twitter "as it happened" and the theme is fantastic. Great work overall, and not to diminish each bit of paintwork (as I think it's brill across each section), but this army proves that great colour choice, basing and careful modelling can lift an army beyond the sum of its parts!
  22. Glad to see someone else putting thought into these units. Everyone I see posts quite positively about Khinerai, but in a support role rather than a large chunk of your amy. I love Doomfires, but tend to agree the consensus is they work better in 10+ which is 320 points. The idea of an Assassin in a Khinerai unit is a good one that was suggested to me elsewhere, especially with the realm artefacts available to Ulgu for example (Sword of Judgment, the one that is -3 rend as well) but you're putting that one extra artefact you gain from the battalion into 80 (potentially unreliable) points in an Assassin. A lot of fun though, when you have 4 units of Khinerai harassing and one of them might well have an Assassin bomb inside!
  23. I'm in quite a privileged position living in Nottingham that I'm both able to access WHW for hobby, but there's also a bit of cross-over with my work, and also friends who used to/do work there. I even teach a pupil whose dad is a miniature designer (will rename nameless for obvious reasons!) The last conversation I had this year was similar to yours - but the impression I was given was that the miniatures and their design takes priority over the game and everything else. So if there's a general plan from on high, the designers seem to fit into all of that in quite a 'free' way. Obviously they're not just doing what they like, but the appeared to be a freedom to allow them to create really, really good miniatures. What I was getting at from my original post was that there's a lot going on behind scenes that means pricing isn't this random thing because something is on two sprues and so is something else, or because there's loads of bits in the box - even if it appears that way there's probably a logic to it that we're just not privy to (and shouldn't necessarily expect to be). I'd still maintain the hobby is a lot more expensive than I feel it should be, but I do appreciate the amount of work that goes into it behind the scenes and I love the fact the models are made in the city I live, employing lots of people.
  24. Hello all. Quick bit of advice needed to help me help my son. He liked the original box set models most, and he loved the shooty Reapers when we've played some games, so I've bought Vanguard Raptors and 2 Ballista. Converting a Lord Ordinator. But, need a bit of help finishing a 2k list: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals- Stormhost: Tempest LordsLeadersLord-Ordinator (140)- General- Trait: Bonds of Noble Duty Lord-Relictor (100)- Prayer: TranslocationKnight-Incantor (140)- Spell: StormcallerLord-Celestant On Dracoth (220)- Lightning Hammer & Thundershield- Artefact: Patrician's Helm - Mount Trait: Keen-clawedBattleline5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & ShieldUnits3 x Prosecutors with Celestial Hammers (100)5 x Retributors (220)3 x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows (180)War MachinesCelestar Ballista (100)Celestar Ballista (100)Total: 1500 / 2000Extra Command Points: 10Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 83 The last 500 points are all to play for. Obviously need Libs/Judicators. Had an idea to buy Steelhearts to make a final Liberator unit (big hammer to one existing unit, as a swap, Steelheart would be a Lib Prime with Great sword etc). Would be a cheap way to get another unit and add some "character" to starter set models and units. Tempest Lords seemed to fit the Ordinator/Ballista combo? Thinking of getting the magazine for a 2nd Incantor. Son also really likes the Endless Spells, particularly the comet That takes us to 340 of the 500 left. Ideas welcome. Not going to be world beating but he likes what he likes! Edit: other option, drop 2nd Incantor, bring in Evocators and a Knight Azyros to bolster the Prosecutors. Evocators are supposed to be quite solid?
  25. You need to factor in development time and costs. Production costs. This might be quite different, even if the volume of plastic is the same. I think we're all aware by now that it's a pricy hobby and the sets we spend 50 quid on might only cost 50p to make. That's not the point. I do, however, agree that it seems like a D20 is rolled sometimes and I do wish some kits (like Witch Aelves) were priced more "competitively" ?
