  1. So I've started this plog on Warseer and it has really been a fun project for me. Warseer is down, again, so I went looking for another forum and ended up here. It seems this is a more positive forum and I'm happy to share my progress here. This plog revolves around Thalion, an elven prince in Ulthuan controlling a large pleasure cult. Thalion aspires to become a daemon prince in order to survive the Rhana Dandra (or end times, as humans refer to it) and save a piece of the old world both he and his patron god love. As Thalion's army grows I will figure out what it is Thalion has to do to reach his goal and eventually end up in the Age of Sigmar... This story allows me for me to explore the old world a little more before leaving it behind. The plog will involve lots of conversions and pieces of fluff to evolve the story. Here we go: "Ever since the time of Aenerion cults of pleasure have existed within elf society. Though seemingly immune to the other three gods of chaos, the dark prince Slaanesh fanned the aesthetic inclinations of the Asur, which resulted in the first formations of the cult of pleasure within Ulthuan. The influence of Slaanesh bored deep into the roots of society, pushing the selfish and artistic nature of elves to extremes. Even though the power of Slaanesh lies not within war and battle, it was the lord of pleasure who birthed the schism in society that led to what the Asur refer to as the sundering. To this day thousands of elves secretly worship the dark prince. The cults of pleasure still thrive both within Naggaroth and Ulthuan. But where the Druchii cults focus on the sensual and sadistic elements of elven nature, the cults of Ulthuan focus more on the emotive responses to artistic, philosophic and culinary excesses. The cult of Ulthuan is considered even more secretive than the Naggarothi cults, as the excessive behaviour of elves stands out more in the structured culture of the Asur. The Cult of Ulthuan is controlled by six magi, of which Thalion is considered the most influential. The power of chaos gods does not corrupt the elves like it does humans. It is unknown for elves to suffer mutation but other more beneficial effects can occur. Though easily over two centuries old, Thalion looks like a young elf merely 300 years of age. His youthful appearance combined with his deep insights and military cunning has earned him a powerful position in many a courtroom. The perfect position to grow his influence and extend his grip on Ulthuan in the name of his dark prince." Thalion

My Wanderers Spellweaver painted a few years ago (2014 or so). Proud warden of my Wood Elves force. I really enjoyed working on transparency with this model.

  4. It has been a while since I posted something new. I feel my Cult of Slaanesh army is pretty much done for now and I thought it would be a good idea to paint all those models I have lying around before purchasing something new. I know there are a lot of hobbyists out there who have spent a lot of money on models, but never came around to painting them. This is my attempt to get a large portion of my unpainted or stripped models sitting on the shelf painted. Hopefully I'll get enough done to be able to buy new stuff guilt-free when Slaanesh or ealves will finally be released for AoS. This thread will mostly be (high) elves, with the occasional model from other ranges. To start this thread of with a little irony, I'll first show my Lord of contagion I converted to fit into AoS. I wasn't intending to buy new models, but I simply loved this model and thought it would be fun to try something different. This Nurgle Lord meant a different color scheme from what I usually paint and also enabled me to try some new techniques. I tried to add a lot of texture to the model, with lots of scratches and battle damage to the armour. Comments and critique are very much appreciated, as it helps me to improve and stay motivated.
  5. Here's some pictures of my hobby progress this week! 5 Witch Aelves 2 Sisters of Slaughter 1 Death Hag Some of these models look a little "beat-up" as they have been stripped and repainted and repaired a number of times unfortunately. But they serve as a decent starting point for the new army
  6. Welcome to my hobby progress plog. For the next few months this will focus on my adventures building and painting my AOS armies and Terrain. The forces on my hobby bench at the moment are Mixed Order / Hammerhal City alliance. This is my Archmage from the Spire of Dawn set. Just bought from ebay last week. Daughters of Khaine This is just phase one. More to come this weekend with Morathi and another box of Witch Aelfs! Terrain Warscryer Citadel Mixed Chaos I have a Dark Oath Warqueen in the works The next few weeks will be dominated by Daughters of Khaine progress. Here begins my war on the legions of grey plastic, wish me luck!
  7. Of all the mortal realms, perhaps the least traveled among them is the place named Ulgu. Shadow magic personified, it is a plane of shifting continents, ominous skies, endless grey crags, and home to demonic fogs. In ancient times, before Chaos ruled over all but Sigmar’s throne, explorers would not deign to venture there. They feared the realm of dread illusion would swallow them whole, or worse face the wrath of a baleful king left over from another world, like the patron god of men. Through winding valleys and hidden pathways stands a solitary fortress, larger than any like it across the mortal realms. The earth around it is serene and unchanging, but by no means beautiful. The castle stands as an anchor of logic, holding its surroundings in place while violent change and constant misdirection leave the rest of Ulgu an unknowable terror. It is here that a mysterious benefactor took the castle as their own, and sought to fill it with stewards to keep it, and proud knights to defend it. The master of the castle knew well this King of Shadow, once named Malekith. Long ago, Malekith was a distant blood relative, and also a most hated foe. The benefactor saw the city of stone as an opportunity, a way to garrison many souls in everlasting watch over an old enemy. Any shelter it may provide, any community it may create, any new ideas fostered under its roof, all were secondary to this singular purpose. Not that the benefactor would elucidate this to anyone. Years after the first settlers were led to its bronze gates, the castle-city is home to outcasts, vagabonds, and wanderers who seek a new order of things away an undesired establishment. This is no collection of pirates and thieves, but rather a flourishing city state governed by those deemed unfit to live amongst other mortals, no matter how noble the intentions in their hearts. From this cradle of sanctuary, the denizens of Castle Siebenbur strike from their home into other realms. Far from heavenly Azyr, the fortress in Ulgu stands as a bastion of Order where no other life would dare to defy the might of Chaos. -- This is one of my finished armies that has seen action at the Las Vegas Open, Adepticon, and now an event with the Adepticon crew at Midwest Meltdown. I took roughly a year to plan this army through writing fluff, conversion planning, and color scheme studies. I based this army on an examination of the many aspects I enjoy about fantasy in popular culture, particularly Japanese fantasy video games and their color palettes. Not the anime or cel-shaded games, but more visceral titles such as The Last Remnant, Dragon's Dogma, and Dark Souls to name a few. I have been particularly fascinated for a long time with the muted, organic palettes and the focus on nondenominational ornamentation... I could go on and on about why certain aspects of the army look as they do, but putting that all into a single post would take longer than I have in one sitting. So here's some minis to start with, I'll add more with bits of fluff as I go. No critique necessary. I know what looks bad and why. I have learned from what I rushed in this army and improved greatly in my upcoming Celestial Vindicators force. This army was rushed to completion, and nothing will change that, but it is certainly my most narrative driven army and that is what makes it beyond impressive and special in my opinion. It's not bad on the table either, I came in the top third of players at Adepticon 2017 with this lot.
