Well sure but swordmasters of hoeth (or whatever you want) are also fighting in a line and presumably better at it than you or I so again I would expect to have a harder time hitting one of them than a goblin all things equal.

That said I'm more thinking about things like character duels and the like. Maybe it's far too complicated to use tables only for challenges and use flat numbers for the larger combats (actually that seems doable) but if I have to pick one or the other I'd take more tables over less.

I will never defend templates though.  Oh so fun to have an extra gizmo I guess? And then argue endlessly over how many models slivers of base are under it 🙄

Exactly that, in one on one duels weapon skill absolutely makes a difference, but its a different skill set in a massed melee, you arent fighting one person, you are fighting half a dozen and its harder with a great sword because your buddies are more spaced out so you can swing them, which means their numbers count for more. Your attention only goes so far and your weapon can only be in one place (shields help!) and then its just hitting a body, which is pretty basic :D

Id actually argue individual skill is almost irrelevant compared to leadership and morale, but thats an entirely different type of system really which is well off their design brief lol

And yeah, templates suck in battle games cant be said enough :)

I think I mind templates the least in rank and file games. The big problem with them for me is in skirmish games where you have a lot more control of coherency. Technically it really makes a massive difference being as spread out as possible Vs clumped up, but it's a lot slower to do right. In old world it's only skirmishers that you need to worry about.

Yeah I think numbers make the biggest difference but that would be a crazy system of hit bonus based on ranks which then depends on the army in questions ability to capitalize on that pack fighting style. Idk definitely room for something design wise there.

Morale probably is the most important part of historical combat but I hate seeing combat be strictly decided by leadership tests in like 6th edition fantasy it seems? Idk I didn't play just watch bat reps.

The other critter opposite the griffon looks strikingly like the oop (is it? idk) plastic chaos manticore, so we can probably expect it to be a part of the range.

I also now realize that the shields represent all the factions listed in that one article (also with the visual version of the much maligned and subsequently deleted "good vs bad" grouping)

The trays work incredibly well, in fact better than square bases.

I managed to fit very busy models with lots if overhang easily

That's not a logo, it's a game crest that can be used as a icon. It's a bit convoluted, but I like it.

Note:
Isotype: Image without any lettering. The brand doesn't need words to be recognizable (LG)
Logotype: Uses lettering as main source to build the branding (Vogue)
Imagotype: Image and lettering. Sometimes you can split both to have a Logotype or isotype (Nike)
Isologo: Image and lettering, they can't be split appart because they interact with each other (Burger King).

3D printed and modelled myself. You can download them from my Drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PqjkqrGp5LRAwMoGw8K_EZlxUdASfbNW?usp=drive_link

the standard size is 25mm but it's easy to scale it to any round base size in a slicer.

Absolutely fantastic.  Sadly I can't do 3d printing (no space w/ proper ventilation in my apartment), but I imagine people will be selling things like this online soon enough after TOW releases.  I had been working on a homebrew Tomb Kings rules update for AoS.  I'd abandoned it when I realized I was going to end up re-rebasing the army for TOW, but if a solution like this could allow me to avoid that then I might revive the project.

It’s fdm (filament) printing, that’s harmless

Something about the quality of the lines on that drawing makes me think of new blood bowl art (not the humorous aspect of it, but literally the hardness & shape of the lines), and I like it.

I suppose it's not impossible that the same person did it, ToW is a specialist product after all.
