They already have multiple synergies with heroes and with the cauldron of blood - the entire playstyle of the army is based on it at the moment so it will be interesting to see how, and if, those synergies change in the battletome.

Yeah in my opinion they will go to reinforce that playstyle further with additional rules.

Just a thought hitting me, now with the new "harpies" it means a new good looking Valkia model :D

Not to be "that guy", but are we sure this really is Morathi? I am not entirely convinced, when I see her facial features. Or maybe I played her too much in TW:Warhammer? :P

Yes, 100% sure. GW confirmed it themselves that this is Morathi.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Morathi is indeed confirmed, I was just not sure the particular model shown is Morathi. It might very well be a hero of a different sort, and Morathi the giant snake-thing being teased in the end.

Obviously a Horde army since women are paid less  ....:$ (dark humour joke, no offence)

Anyway I hope it's a small Elite army because it's more my jam and I can't picture aelf being everything but elitist..

We don't have any release date so, you (and I ) can build an army of angry witches slowly :D

My kind of thinking  :D

Right well, that's my other two potential projects on the back burner. Murder Aelves it is. Until the next GW reveal.

When you look at some of the teaser animated videos with her in, the model and the pictures match up perfectly.

Well, that is probably the case. The headgear and the spear, for example. So Morathi is either a shapeshifter with an elven and monstrous form respectively, or she is split in two.

With both models being on the battlefield the same time in the most recent teaser and the image of Morathi on the throne with the snake-monster behind in the previous teaser, I am leaning towards the latter.

Where are High Aelves though? ;)

lol - I'm just waiting for some Death Players to come on this thread and take the DoK release as a personal insult...

Not sure why anyone would collect High Elves when they can collect these lovely ladies instead but it takes all tastes I suppose...

I'm terrified that my ability to paint faces is going to come nowhere near doing morathi justice - In fact some of my cross-eyed witch elves are strong evidence of this...

I wonder how much Angel Heraldez charges for commission work.. just do her face for me Angel, pleeeease?!

It is 100% Morathi. The giant snake is ALSO Morathi.

We don't have to speculate. The same person who called the release weeks ago stated that she transforms back and forth.

I guess they are still waiting for their time in the sun, maybe a few years more.

They actually don't interfere with one another :)

Well it might be likely and all, but I won't be 100% certain before the good folks at GW says so. Everything that comes before is speculation, by definition.

The news are indeed awesome. The only question I have, though, is how they all connected with Khaine and, especially, how Morathi will be connected to that. Why is she leading the cult of Khaine? It will be interesting.

Isn't there some old world lore around Morathi being Khaines favourite or something? And one of the reasons why Hellebron hated her so much?

I found some of the stuff in the Curse of Khaine, and even the Bride of Khaine short story was kind of inconclusive on exactly what was happening.

I'm desperate to get my hands on the Battletome - almost more than the models - to see where they are going with this in the AoS lore. Its possible Morathi has just used Khaine as a mechanism to take control of the cult but Death Hags have prayers - so there is presumably some sort of god to answer them?

The Executioners and the assassins were strongly linked to the cult of Khaine in the old world - not so much in 8th but directly in earlier editions so its not like the composition of Khainite armies has not been altered before. It wouldn't be a big jump just to say "This is what the cult of Khaine looks like now in the Mortal Realms - everything before was just history."

I don't mind them going in different directions with things for the new setting. There are things in the old books that I absolutely love, but its not like they will come round my house and take them off me. I'm fine with history being different from the future.

Shadowblades could be folded into this

a) Doomfire Warlocks are into this army so it's almost sure that Dark Riders are also in

b) Assassins were always Khaine raised by Witch Elves.

So it could be interesting "leader" wise

1) Morathi as named leader ?

2) Death Hag - buffing units

3) Sorceress/Mistweaver/Spellcasting Meduse ? - wizard

4) Assassin - specialist

5) Tenabrael Shard as named leader ?

Dark riders weren't in before, despite doomfire warlocks being in. I doubt that'll change. Do assasins have a plastic kit? If yes: in; if no: out. We already know about Morathi, we already have hags as buffing units.

Sure. In the video though you can see that the big snake at the end has the same spear as the Morathi with legs. They’re the same character. It’s a pretty safe bet.

Yes, to some extent, but that was in WHFB, and it's hard to say what of the past will remain here. All in all I'd prefer new lore and new explanations instead of the old ones.

Tenebrael and former Shadowblade - yes.

If we go the lore route guessing unit inclusions, Executioners were also traditionally part of Khaine worshipping and all that. I doubt we will see any males in the army at all. Would love to see a Malerion release in teh latter half of the year, as amazing as these minis are I have Nurgle to work on, and was always more into cold one knights and black guard.
