  1. So there's an awful lot of talk about the Scourgerunner Chariots and how they can perform but I've noticed almost no chatter on the Drakespawn Chariot, is this due to it being really bad? Or simply overshadowed by the same cost Scourgerunner? Looking at its warscroll it doesn't seem terrible for 80 points, it's attacks are nothing overly exciting but the D3 mortals on a charge could be potentially quite interesting. It feels like something that might perform better in a unit than one on its own to throw out as many shots, attacks and mortals as it can. Though a unit of 3 has quite a big footprint which is a shame but it can also benefit from the black dragons command ability aura (provided you position to get in range) I can also see a unit of 3 parked on an objective with 18 wounds and a 4+ save and big enough footprint to make it harder for enemies to get it but a scourgerunner can do the same, trading some defense for more and better shots and doesn't need a charge to put out damage. I'd love to hear the thoughts of anyone with a much better mind for analysis than I have, the models are cool and the idea of throwing some chariots into enemy lines rather than them being portable ballista is pretty cool but I just can't help but feel that I'd be hampering myself a lot by not just making them scourgerunners and throwing out those harpoons of doom.
  2. So I'm considering for a simple fun 1k list of the following: 1x Melusai Ironscale - General 1x Slaughter Queen on Cauldron of Blood 10x Blood Sisters - battleline 5x Blood Stalkers - battleline 5x Blood Stalkers - battleline 5x Khinerae Lifetakers So I know heartrenders might be better for just 5 but I do not have any currently, I am also missing any form of mage but I think at 1000 points I can potentially get away without one. I wanted to focus a bit more on the Scathborn to get the most out of the command ability, likely throwing my cauldron and the 10 sisters into something meaty to really get some pain going.
  3. I'm very much hoping they'll at least be unique in some way and not just a carbon copy of an existing CoS scroll with maybe 1 additional near useless rule (though that sometimes feels more like an underworlds way of doing heroes) But yeah I'm not saying to make them super powerful, just giving people a reason to want to take them besides just a cool model would be nice. But regardless I'm excited to see what they do and even if they end up not too great I'll probably try including them anyway because they're pretty cool!
  4. I'm managing to break my hobby haitus with some SW legion clones and now also the drusa kraeth box I picked up Enjoying the idea of being able to build a dark elf army since I've been enjoying them tons in total war. Planning to make a AoA hero on a cold one from spare bits because I'm enjoying sending Malus in to wreck house far too much on total war XD
  5. A lord of the realms preview thread would be cool! Also I am excited to see those expanded AoA rules, I am super stoked that it looks like they'll be continuing to support it!
  6. There's an FAQ (or something) somewhere that does state with opponents permission you're totally free to add any missing keywords like marine or melusai (I mean the entire AoA requires opponents permission so it makes sense)
  7. Lightbox being busy continued this month, still not found the time to get Alarielle's base undercoated though it is fully built. So looks like this will spill into February too 😧 When I get a chance to get the undercoat done then I will see if I can also get some dryads undercoated along with it to start getting some of those painted. I suspect my pace will continue slowly for a number of reasons at current which is a shame but I'll be sure to share any progress I do make on here with you all
  8. My wishlisting for my boys&girls in blood red: -New bloodknights: Seriously... please. Plastic bloodknights. I would be happy with just this. Ideally mixed gender head options (maybe even an elven head or two, why you only get humans as vampires in aos?) -New zombies would be cool: I like the current kit fine and I'd be dissapointed if a new kit was just all humans again. Mixed race zombies would be amazing, also I'd love to see what sort of AoS peasant clothing they gave them -Make zombies worth taking over skellies / other battlelines: Sure they can be kinda buffed but a large horde should be at least kinda scary and not just a saveless speedbump. -Hero corpse cart option?: For full zombie themed armies. -Better warscroll for vampire lords: They really should be capable in combat, not just kinda squishy and mostly there for providing buffs. -Give the coven throne and bloodseeker palaquin more support/utility options. And make those options useable! (Sorry palanquin but you aren't currently killing much to toss out your buff) -Fun and themely battalions -Make Neffy and Manfred scarier: Don't care if you have to make them more expensive. Make them worthy of their mortarch titles. -Dont nerf vlord on dragon: Please, leave my baby alone. It's fine. -At least one subfaction focused on vampires. -Also more vampires (like thrall foottroops or smth): I wanna be able to field a vampire heavy army, not just one on a dragon and a few bloodknights.
  9. I'm pretty happy about the Mace too! It's nice to have more weapons besides swords being common Now we just need more flails... maybe some jewelery chain would make an easy conversion for the vampire mace
  10. I agree... the battle just wouldn't be high stakes enough to make a true story
  11. I'd love Vampirates but I'm fine enough converting and using cities rules for that. We sorely need good ol' soulblight proper stabby melee vampires first!
  12. And we're almost done here, just need to flesh out and paint the very basic base that can be seen beneath the crab. Unfortunately the colour shift paint on Alarielle's weapon and armour doesn't come out well on camera but oh well.
  13. So due to a busy and difficult december this little guy has slipped into January which is a shame but on the bright side he's coming along well! Got the various bits of plantlife and foliage on him to do but otherwise we're certainly nearing the end (just don't ask about where I am with the base...)
  14. And now the initial airbrush for the limb markings is done, including a few little white specs for decorarion too. Next step is to get the main shell done. Happy to finally see this project coming along this much
  15. Well december has been slow for multiple reasons... especially the recent addition of skaven to my collection of armies... whoops Buuut the hermit crab is now ready for round 1 of airbrushing to put some colourful markings upon the limbs. Then it will be ready the shell with a glossy black to airbrush my colour shift paints onto.
  16. That's a very kind offer. And woah! Speedy on the terrain! Nice thing with it is it looks quite drybrush friendly, lots of nice raised details. Any clue what sort of colours you might do for it? I've seen cool terrain using incubi darkness as the stone colour instead of the usual grey, though I often go for grey drybrushes myself with stonework on models, it's a good neutral tone.
  17. I'm so in love with the scions of the flame models from that set. Especially when I learnt one could be built with a flaming flail!! Something that I need to source more of so I can convert a hero with one XD (I love flails)
  18. Thanks! Body is from the Mantic Giant (A good cheap one for conversions but alas definitely requires some fixing and gap filling... but it's like £25-30 so can't complain too much) He has 2 options for each arm, 2 heads and a fur shoulder mantle which I ended up cutting up to use on the keeper of secrets conversion. So he's a pretty cool kit tbh.
  19. Hi all, So I'm considering a little dip into a skaven force (likely just 1k points for now or so) as a fun little project and I'm very much unsure on quite how I'd want to go with them clan wise. I absolutely love the look of the hellpit abomination from Moulder as a cool centerpiece, even if it's not that great, and verminlords also look cool but I believe they can be any clan if I go for one of the masterclan ones as a general. I'm also kind of drawn to Skyre if I don't go for moulder because hamster wheels and big guns could be very fun! My main worry is with moulder that I might feel a bit restricted option wise if i choose to expand and unfortunatley whilst the giant rats look fine the rat ogors certainly leave something to be desired... though I know these could be converted etc. Any suggestions for a new potential player? It would be cool to hear how Skyre or Moulder might be able to play in fun ways that don't need to be all that competetive.
  20. December pledge! Finishing these two nerds!
  21. So they're literally a month late but I finally got some paint on my kurnoths! (In my defence they're so late partly due to issues trying to undercoat them) Unfortunately volpus pink does not go great with the root like detailing on the kurnoths, it ends up looking kinda streaky due to how it darkens the recesses! Gonna try adding a pink drybrush to them to see if that will smooth it out a touch. (May be the same on all my sylvaneth but mostly noticeable on these guys as they're like all pink unlike the more fleshy spites) Other than that I need to do their bases and the little seed pods in their stomachs. Hopefully for december I can try and get sime dryads or something done, but I'm hesitant to make a pledge till something is undercoated at least, as then it'll totally be down to me deadline wise (also gargants keep distracting me) Edit: Now I'm learning how to airbrush I might even be able to have a crack at Alarielle's giant crab.
  22. From the realm of Chamon my Gargants act as an order of knights... or whatever they consider knights to be. They have fancy helmets basically. Here is my Kraken Eater with his metal cage instead of a net I'm working on a warstomper with the Mierce Papaworth the pillager and giving him an imperial knight chainsword. I've also done and still have a variety of mancrushers (will post them another time as still WiP, a nice family photo could be cool!) Including this recent one. From the Ironoak forests of Chamon strides forth the knight of the woods, a large and imposing creature that almost never speaks allowing her blades to do the talking instead. Still a little more to do on her but I'm quite happy, definitely a very different look for a giant The whole force will be quite the eclectic mix of wayward vagabonds.
  23. I've been once again distracted by a new project in realm of metal themed sons of Behemat. Because I'm not the greatest fan of the regular mancrusher gargant it's been a wonderful excuse to dip into some cool different third party models and get nice sculpts I'd otherwise have no use for in order to create a very eclectic tribe This of course was mostly started by that damn Gargant sale over at Mierce… On the bright side it's not going to be a project that will take too long to complete. I've already got: 2 mega's and 2 mancrushers built and ready with an extra 1 that's WIP. 2 more on the way to me (some lovely Yedharo Models sculpts) and my 6th spot will likely be covered by an ebay rescue I'm winning the bid for. (Will look at getting pics up once more models and bases are built) Never been this excited for a destruction army 8 models total very much appeals to me for movement phase and unpacking / packing up! Now I have to see if I'll actually get them painted any quicker than the big model projects... (Hopefully once I learn to use our airbrush without clogging it) It's also been pretty great for using up some of my spare chaos/imperial knight bits (hence realm of metal)
