  1. Truth is, the main issue is space. Production is real cheap. The molds already exist, and that is by far the most expensive part of the process. They could print into infinity old kits provided they had a place to put them. The big issue GW runs in to is space issues, not production costs.
  2. I agree. Bretonnia fit he aesthetic better. Bretonnia was a generic vaguely 14th century british aesthetic that has become the common shorthand for medieval humans in media, and so would fit in the setting with less jarring an impact.
  3. The hurricanum is so good it feels kinda tragic not taking it, especially in your hallowheart list there.
  4. And those people tend to not like AoS like at all. So they aren't gonna be happy with anything less than a full rollback to fantasy (which, well, we're actually maybe getting with legends. See, if you complain (to use a politer word) enough loud enough, GW will listen) Actually all the models made for AoS specifically share sort of the same types of ascetics. They're quite unified. There is a lot of visual continuity between a stormcast warrior, a blood warrior, an ironjow brute, and a fyreslayer vulkite. They all share key visual shorthand. They're all sort of larger than life heroic proportions of bulging muscles and rage. Even namarti thralls are real swole for being elves. And they are all quite ostentatious and a bit over designed and largely more dynamic. Like, it you set up a warhammer fantasy model next to an AoS model, you could tell immediately that AoS is just a different kind of scale. Even the swole dudes of old fantasy, the chaos warriors, are weedy next to AoS models. Now the real kicker is that much of the range has remained legacies from fantasy and they do not share the same visual ascetics (like witch elves, or 'ardboyz.) But the empire's ascetic is so very keyed into a time and place that while fantasy elves or fantasy orcs not sharing the same sort of design sense with a stormcast or brute, that it is harder to overlook. If they ever do redo empire models, you can be safe in the knowledge that they will certainly kick the ascetic to 11 like they have done with literally every other model made for AoS. But also, they're not redoing empire models any time in the near future. Like years and years and years.
  5. Which is a stronger unit in a broken battletome. Like, maybe CoS will be as much of a mess as skaven are, but I don't wish that on the system or people who play against it.
  6. Like, legit, 4 wizards casting 2 spells a turn is true madness. With a native plus 2 to cast from hurricanum and the ability to self shank for big numbers. the entire battlefield will be exploding all over the place. Even Nagash won't be able to stop your magical mayham (although you can't stop him either. Magical nuke off).
  7. Their nerf isn’t That bad. The internet is wrong about it. And they gained access to a lot of buffs. There is no reason to not be hitting and wounding on 2s with them
  8. But they DON'T look like 17th century german landsknechts. There's a certain amount of baggage that comes with artistically representing a model in such a specific period and region. In old fantasy, it was visual shorthand for the empire being an HRE expy. But orphaned from that concept they look out of place compared to a more genericized visual representative of a human renaissance soldier. Some people can get around that, but is IS one of the number one complaints about the artistic merits of free guild, and so is something for GW to consider on a cost benefit ratio. It is evident that more people would like more fantastic, or at least more generically medieval humans. But that also may, and likely isn't, worth the cost of redoing the model line.
  9. I mean, Tempest's eye was swifthawk agents, which is why they lack an identity now. GW deleted it.
  10. I think people are missing what is good about tempest’s eye. It isn’t great to just mindlessly zoom outriders about cause they come in that battalion and are fast. And if you want a melee alpha army; the living city is much better (deep strike a max size unit of DGK, with some cp they get plus 3 to charge). Tempest’s eye allows for basic footslogging infantry to have a more effective board presence. It increases the threat range for basic shooting attacks by a lot while not exposing your skirmish contingent without a screen
  11. You’re missing out on the point of arkanaut companies without their weapons
  12. They’ll be alright. The battalion bonus only barely applies to them though
  13. I think tempest’s eye makes a better gunline. You use the first turn to board position, and then blaze away
  14. That has been a standard complaint, the humans are too old fantasy and not at all high fantasy. Which is is ironic since humans got to stick around while the other far more generically fantasy armies saw large swathes of models cut
  15. Welcome to skaven. The battle tome that is the biggest mistake. Until hedonites. I joke, hedonites only do a couple of really annoying things. Skaven are way more annoying
  16. retreat and still shoot and charge. It's situationally nice, but with how deadly combat in in AoS, most units will kill off outriders or a gunhauler if they make contact. Neither of those are super durable units. It's better on the griffon general to let him skip through to major targets and keep his lance bonus going all the time. Now, one of tempest eye's command traits (According to GMG, so your mileage may very to its veracity) is plus one to wound with ranged weapons wholly within 12 of general. The means, with general, khemist, and Celestial hurricanum, your skyhooks are getting 24 shots hitting on threes (hitting monsters on twos), and then wounding on twos. With this in mind, and looking at my collection, I threw together this army Khemist Freeguild general Celestial hurricanum with battle mage Battle mage 40 arkanauts 30 handgunners 30 crossbowmen (Both hand gunners and crossbow men are stand in as dwarves, but ain't no way imma buy 60 models just cause they squatted like 80 percent of my dwarves. Gunners have guns, crossbows have crossbows. Easy sub. And it was the dwarves that taught humans how to do all this anyways! *grumble grumble*) 30 longbeards with shields Shackles endless spell nets me a cool 2000 points. The shooting is quite intense, You have strong CP generation between adjunct rule and the tempest eye spell that nets a CP on a 7 to cast (and hurricanum gives plus one to casts). Longbeards jam up a turn, followed by handgunners, all the while you are raining fire down upon the foe. Outside of gotrek (and morathi of course), I'm not sure there is a character in the game that can survive 24 three plus two plus (or two plus two plus) skyhook shots. And your threat range is really far. 31 inches on the first turn. AND tempest eye has a run and shoot CP, so, theoretically, it is a 37 inch threat range first turn. All of this is just to say, Arkanaut companies are waaaay better in Cities of Sigmar and their goodness there is going to be how GW self justifies nerfing their weapon options to one of each per ten and I'll quit the game in disgust once more.
  17. In tempest's eye, a KO company with 12 sky hooks can, with buffs, shoot 24 times hitting on 3s, with 2s against monsters and wounding on 2s. This is quite good. And this is no CP cost. Both hnadgunners and Cbow men can actually trivially get to 2 plus 2 plus. Indeed you can get to 1 plus 1 plus with handgunners and 2 plus 1 plus with Cbow men XD
  18. Hahaha, in a year and a half now I have not yet figured out how to fix my stands
  19. I'm glad they made sure it doesn't get a look out sir. Now if only they'd take that away from, say, skaven bells and DoK alters? That'd be nice. Sorry, this is a huge gripe for me.
  20. Scottish by way of Jewish by way of tolkein. It's actually a really weird genesis. Tolkien clearly drew from Jewish cultural history and stereotypes when doing his dwarves, and then everyone else decided they sounded scottish and really REALLY liked to get drunk.
  21. You don’t take it on the chin though. You actively argue against ways to balance the game
  22. GW is, at least in regards to 40k, clearly heavily invested in balance and fixing issues with the game. 40k gets balancing passes three to four times a year now. 40k now is more balanced than it has been in years. Maybe ever. Can 40k ever be a truly balanced game? Maybe not, but gw is certainly trying does aos deserve less? Do you think gw shouldn’t even try? i mean I can tell you which of the two systems is more popular and grows faster and has larger tournaments. It is the one with a very clear emphasis on regular balancing updates every post you make just doesn’t make sense to me from the perspective of someone interested in competitive gaming. Really. Gw does care about balance
