  1. For those of you who own or have used Souldrain Forest, how do you "rule" on using the trees during the game? Do you use the "if it stays it plays" general table-top gaming rule, or do you say "no" to allowing models in the trees at all? If you allow it, what are some of the understandings you use, or some of the issues you have had to resolve? Im just wondering. I recently purchased Souldrain and painting it up. My buddies and I have play a few games on it, and we have been allowing models in the trees, but if we use it at a tournament or something, I would like some ideas as to any potential complications. Thanks so much! See you around the forums!
  2. I will be hosting an event in the near future and one of the things I would like to do as part of the promotion is to create a "Ruling FAQ" for the people who will be playing. Warcry is still relatively new, and I would just like to hear some of the most complex rules questions people still have aside from any FAQs released to date. The purpose of this thread is NOT to argue rules. I just want to know the situations so I can be prepared for them and have answers for my players ahead of time so there are no surprises. If you can take just a minute to post a suggestion, I would GREATLY appreciate you! Thanks so much!
  3. I like skirmish games. Kind of a pity that it is no longer supported. So like in previous cases, I put together a few rules to add new ways to play or further depth to AoS (similar to the "Warbands" supplement I made). Below is a page of rules that pick up many cool aspects of Skirmish from the old warhammer. It's super simple but should make the games pretty cool. Even the smallest of changes can have a big impact. Will try it out whenever possible! DOWNLOAD: Skirmish-Additional Rules.pdf
  4. A ongoing wish-listing post for 3rd Ed got me thinking. What are the best current or oop game mechanics from GW? This could be in AOS, 40K, or any of the specialist games. The original post talks about innovations in 40K Apoc. “40K's Apoc rule set actually delays all damage dealt until the end of the game round, not the phase. This means your opponent gets to "reply" with attacks from their models during their turn because the wholeround isn't over.” I’d also nominate the Initiative Dice from Warcry whereby you roll 5d6 and the result indicates, first, which player has initiative and, second, the quantity and nature of special abilities available to each player. i think a similar system could be an interesting way to generate cmd points in future. What other mechanics would you add to the list?
  5. When I use Azyr to create a list and I add a Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit it enables me to use Endrinriggers and Skywardens as battleline units. What rulebook enables this. Can someone provide the book name and the page?
  6. Since there's been a lot of discussion about balancing, balance as a whole, point values, GW's business practices and the likes I figured we should take this to a more focussed constructive level by posting actual constructive feedback. Write your factual opinion about what you like and what you would like to see improved and why. Please do not attack other Forum members and be civil and try to be positive while doing so. Cheers Jack
  7. Hello community! I'm new to Age of Sigmar and am playing Nighthaunt. When I resurrect models, are there any restrictions on where I can place them? I ask because an experienced player in my community mentioned something about how Tzeentch splitting horrors were FAQed to avoid congo lining. I found no clarification in the Nighthaunt FAQ. Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
  8. I was sad my chonky boys didn't get rules for warcry so I decided to make my own. I present my Gutbusters rules for warcry. Still in the process of testing them but thought I'd let them loose on the world. Would appreciate any constructive criticism especially RE the model costs and the abilities. The idea is that they are a very hard hitting force but with low numbers that need to use the very low powered grots to delay the enemy and set them up for the ogor's charges. Once I've got these guys sorted I'm planning to make some mercenaries for them (butcher, tyrant, maneater). Few samples below Gutbusters Warcry.pdf
  9. I've been working on some naval battles rules for an upcoming event I'm running and figured folks on here might get some enjoyment out of them. Also, I'm curious as to what sorts of rules other folks use (or would use) for naval battles. Mine revolve around keeping it simple, and have worked well in my test battles so far, but I'm sure there are a lot of different ideas out there. Bonus: My mini-armada of scratch-built ships making a beach landing!
  10. I was a little disappointed by the updated skirmish rules and I've been enjoying Warcry but wish I could use more models. So, I threw together this and was hoping to get some CaC on it to improve it later on. Also, which allegiances would you want me to work on first? Age of Sigmar_ Frontiers_V1.pdf
  11. With the new Gotrek model up for preorder on Saturday what do you think his warscroll will look like? If they incorporate the lore he will have to be practically indestructable and have multiple attacks that can kill almost anything. 8 wounds, 3+ save (and a 5+ supersave) 5at, 3+, 3+, -2, 3 damage? Answers on a postcard...
  12. Hi I am working on a 800pts event for my local shop, it will be more narrative and less comptitive, event. We will have two teams one AoS team second compedium old world team. The idea is to show old players AoS and also have fun. (have fun is the most important part) My problem is at 3 stage of the event I am planning for players to have a special cards with extra things. They will come in two categories strong one and weak one, and will be given after stage 2 to the wining player. Eg if you win a scenario that has a objective to find a artefact you will get a 2 cards of a magic weapon to use. One for you the second to give to your team mate. The problem I have is balancing it, I do wish for them to be useful I do not wish for them to ruin the game by making it auto win. What would you consider a good thing, +1 save for a unit? D6 mortal wound one use only ? Is a sword 3 mortal wound to powerful for a 800 pts game?
  13. Hi guys, this might seem like a dumb question but I'm unsure about the rules for flying. If a model has a fly attribute can they literally move anywhere on the table? I know they can't go within a certain distance to an enemy... Also, if they fly in round 1, do they land in round 1, and can then charge that turn, or are they in the air so to speak for the rest of the turn, and land during round 2? Also, if you retreat from combat, is there a penalty for doing so? Like, does the enemy get a free hit or something? It seems strange to be able to just disengage? Again, apologies if these are dumb questions, but I'm new to the game and have only played solo thus far! Cheers!
  14. How do reserve units work in Meeting Engagements? Let's say I have a unit of NH Reapers I want to jump in as part of my main contingent. The main contingent in the scenario enters end turn 1. Questions: (1) Will this mean they are setup at the end of turn 2, as per normal NH Faction abilities? (2) At what stage can I declare them to be reserves / using the NH ability? At the start of the battle when declaring the armies and contingents OR or when the contingent is setup to enter battle? (Related bonus question - let's say the contingent only contains 1 unit - can it be setup in reserve?) (3) My understanding is that it is only a unit that for instance has to be setup prior to the contingent arriving that will be lost? (That you cannot use that part of the rules to for argue the same Reapers are lost because they cannot enter end of turn 1 since their rules only allow them to be setup at the end of a movement phase. This would basically turn-off all reserve abilities since most work in the movement phase and contingents enter end of turn)
  15. Cloak of shadows says: 'when this figher is adjacent to no fighters, this fighter has +1 defence'. What happens of somebody charges adjacent to your fighter, who is equipped with this cloak, does he looses the +1 defence die at the moment the enemy fighter moves adjacent? And does he get it back if he gets pushed? Or do you only evaluate the conditions for upgrade cards at the beginning of the activation phase/action step and does it stay the same during the activation phase? P

The armies of Efengie have been drawn into a war between the neighboring nation-states of Kytos and Lamellia; a war fought on both land and sea! This book includes a 2-player Narrative Linked-battles Campaign, 3 custom Allegiance abilities to represent the nation-states of Kytos, Lamellia, and Efengie, 5 Narrative Battleplans, 6 Legendary Artefacts of Efengie, and 1 rules expansion to add naval warfare to your Age of Sigmar battles. Plus, lots of fiction and pictures chronicling five months of narrative events! This is the fifth book in this series, you don't need the others (in fact, there's a fluff recap page at the beginning of this one), but if you enjoy this one, you may also enjoy the rest. 17. Greetings, When it comes to gaming in Age of Sigmar, I always found more appealing the smaller games. Being a huge fan of a series of articles that were published in 2004 in White Dwarf (and later revised in 2006) called "Warhammer: Warbands", I believe it is time to adapt such supplement to the current game: Age of Sigmar. The file you may find attached to download contains all the necessary information to play small-scaled games (100-500 points) for Age of Sigmar with a few different rules, and is mostly a word for word modification of its Warhammer Fantasy predecessor. Obviously, none of the content is official or anything similar, and simply tries to offer new options and guidelines to enjoy this game. Any comments or contributions are welcome (ps: please excuse my lazy editing skills ). The PDF file may be found below for downloading, while the first page preview is as follows: AoS_Warbands_V.1.0.pdf
  18. Hey! Home - brew rules folks, Is there some sort of formula you are using when converting new adversaries or heroes into your games of Warhammer Quest? I know there is something for converting units into single units for Skirmish is there some thing similar out there for Quest? Thanks for any help.
  19. Lore-wise my fictional band of warriors hails from the realm of shadow and lucky for me there are a number of interesting choices in the artifact list from Ulgu. One in particular has me a little confused: Talisman of the Watcher. Two main considerations 1. The flavor text reads "Shadowy figures intercept blows aimed at the wearer." Now I know flavor text is in no way rule text but I do think it is written usually to be descriptive of whatever is being written about thematic reasoning beyond the mechanic. So it's not law but it might give us a clue. 2. The rule text reads "If the bearer of this artifact is not within 3" of an enemy unit at the start of the combat phase, select a friendly unit within 9" and re-roll save rolls of 1 for that unit. At first reading I took this to mean that I can project a mystic shield on a single friendly unit, the bearer being a valid target as well based on the flavor text as well as the rule text . Curiously though when carefully looking at the wording it seems like I can project a mystic shield only on another unit as long as I am not in combat myself and only during the combat phase. This seems inconsistent with the flavor text and some elements are vague. For example I am not restricted explicitly from using the ability in any phase, just that it can be invalidated in the combat phase depending on the bearers position. I feel like some words/ clarification is missing here. How should I interpret the rules for this item?
  20. Hey peoples ! ? I'm trying to work out some simple additional rules for skirmish, inspired by other GW publications and unofficial mods out there such as Hinterlands. Here's one for injuries (a la Kill Team but better imo) and another for gaining experience points and levels between games. Would this be the kind of stuff you guys would like to try out during your skirmish games/campaigns ? Hope to get some feedback and ideas of your own !
  21. Hi all, So I have decided to go with a red/purple theme for my Nighthaunts, yet I still want my Hexwraiths to be bright Hexwraith Green. Would this violate the paint 'Scheme Coherency' that many tournaments have? Thanks in advance everyone.
  22. Edit: Now there are complete allegiance abilities for all things green. Check out this post further down. That being said, the original Greenskinz allegiance abilities are also around for those who want to peruse those. Hi fellas, So I enjoy coming up with rules in my free time, and have particular love for the old world factions that have wallowed a bit in the muck for a while. I wrote some Free Peoples allegiance abilities a while ago that I never quite fully got out to the public (Apart from the battle trait part), in large part due to the work involved in 'prettyfying' them up. So I've taken a different approach, in a more mundane and boring document without all the prettiness that comes with official GW documents. So anyway, my most recent finished work is on the Greenskinz! I think it's a super shame that Destruction didn't get more allegiance abilities in the GHB2017, I think there are certainly a few candidate factions that easily have enough depth to have their own allegiance abilities. Hopefully that means they're coming soon! But for now, I've tackled the Greenskinz. This mainly is because I have an old 8th edition army that never really saw much play, and I loved the old 'Orcs and Goblins' look. Not Savage Orruks and Moonclan Grots, or Spiderfang Grots, but plain old Orruks and Grots. They never really took off for me, and certainly, I have thought about selling the army, but for some reason... every week I open up Warscroll Builder and write up some Greenskinz lists. Anyway, enough fluff. In the link below you'll find completely untested and 100% fanmade allegiance abilities and warscroll battalions for the Greenskinz. You'll find battle traits for clobbering your enemies, command traits to bulk up your Warboss, magical artefacts to help slay your foes, spells to make your enemies brains burst open with the power of the waaagh, and some warscroll battalions to make the greenskinz even tougher and meaner than before. Overall, please use them if you enjoy them. Feedback is 100% appreciated. Most numbers are pulled out of thin air (or similar warscrolls if I found them). The descriptions will likely be ******, English and creative writing were certainly not my favourite subjects at school. It is unlikely that I'll get to playtest them anytime soon, but who knows, maybe Greenskinz are on my painting horizon. Enough prattling, here's the link, go check it out and look forward to more homemade allegiance rules in future. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NFxA98rO0g2xPS08y1f1BCHcWwGAj-a5HvlBeDo-gkY/edit?usp=sharing
  23. Guys is there a point of buying battletomes with arrival of AoS 2.0 ?? I mean Stormcast are getting new battletome so maybe i next months we will reacive more refreshed stuff. I'm mostly interested in Blades of Khorne & Seraphons battletomes. Also I'm planing, as a new player, to buy new core book. Do you recommend buying GHB 2018 as well. And finally - Maligin Portents, Path to Glory and RealmGate Wars ?
  24. Does anybody have any experience with the Chaos Dwarves in AoS? How do they play? Are they competitive?
  25. Pretty much as the title, I have been trying to find a concrete answer but I have come up with bubkis, this has been bugging me since I got the deepkin book, Fue'than have an ability that lets mounts re-roll to wound rolls of 1 but don't define what counts as a mount, there is a entry for 'mounts' in the deepkin rules but it's referring to how hero traits interact with their ridden beasts So what is a mount is aos?, is it defined anywhere or do we go off terminology of Riders and ridden, if the latter does that mean the ridden monsters such as the leviadon and appolexas count as mounts? i'm sorry if this sounds incredibly newbish but i'd like to KNOW rather than just think XX is how it works when there are abilities that are specific to it and alot of examples could fall into more warmachine territory than cavalry which is what I think of when I hear the word mount
