  1. Cloak of shadows says: 'when this figher is adjacent to no fighters, this fighter has +1 defence'. What happens of somebody charges adjacent to your fighter, who is equipped with this cloak, does he looses the +1 defence die at the moment the enemy fighter moves adjacent? And does he get it back if he gets pushed? Or do you only evaluate the conditions for upgrade cards at the beginning of the activation phase/action step and does it stay the same during the activation phase? P
  2. I've been working on some naval battles rules for an upcoming event I'm running and figured folks on here might get some enjoyment out of them. Also, I'm curious as to what sorts of rules other folks use (or would use) for naval battles. Mine revolve around keeping it simple, and have worked well in my test battles so far, but I'm sure there are a lot of different ideas out there. Bonus: My mini-armada of scratch-built ships making a beach landing!

The armies of Efengie have been drawn into a war between the neighboring nation-states of Kytos and Lamellia; a war fought on both land and sea! This book includes a 2-player Narrative Linked-battles Campaign, 3 custom Allegiance abilities to represent the nation-states of Kytos, Lamellia, and Efengie, 5 Narrative Battleplans, 6 Legendary Artefacts of Efengie, and 1 rules expansion to add naval warfare to your Age of Sigmar battles. Plus, lots of fiction and pictures chronicling five months of narrative events! This is the fifth book in this series, you don't need the others (in fact, there's a fluff recap page at the beginning of this one), but if you enjoy this one, you may also enjoy the rest. 4. Greetings, When it comes to gaming in Age of Sigmar, I always found more appealing the smaller games. Being a huge fan of a series of articles that were published in 2004 in White Dwarf (and later revised in 2006) called "Warhammer: Warbands", I believe it is time to adapt such supplement to the current game: Age of Sigmar. The file you may find attached to download contains all the necessary information to play small-scaled games (100-500 points) for Age of Sigmar with a few different rules, and is mostly a word for word modification of its Warhammer Fantasy predecessor. Obviously, none of the content is official or anything similar, and simply tries to offer new options and guidelines to enjoy this game. Any comments or contributions are welcome (ps: please excuse my lazy editing skills ). The PDF file may be found below for downloading, while the first page preview is as follows: AoS_Warbands_V.1.0.pdf
  5. Hey! Home - brew rules folks, Is there some sort of formula you are using when converting new adversaries or heroes into your games of Warhammer Quest? I know there is something for converting units into single units for Skirmish is there some thing similar out there for Quest? Thanks for any help.
  6. Lore-wise my fictional band of warriors hails from the realm of shadow and lucky for me there are a number of interesting choices in the artifact list from Ulgu. One in particular has me a little confused: Talisman of the Watcher. Two main considerations 1. The flavor text reads "Shadowy figures intercept blows aimed at the wearer." Now I know flavor text is in no way rule text but I do think it is written usually to be descriptive of whatever is being written about thematic reasoning beyond the mechanic. So it's not law but it might give us a clue. 2. The rule text reads "If the bearer of this artifact is not within 3" of an enemy unit at the start of the combat phase, select a friendly unit within 9" and re-roll save rolls of 1 for that unit. At first reading I took this to mean that I can project a mystic shield on a single friendly unit, the bearer being a valid target as well based on the flavor text as well as the rule text . Curiously though when carefully looking at the wording it seems like I can project a mystic shield only on another unit as long as I am not in combat myself and only during the combat phase. This seems inconsistent with the flavor text and some elements are vague. For example I am not restricted explicitly from using the ability in any phase, just that it can be invalidated in the combat phase depending on the bearers position. I feel like some words/ clarification is missing here. How should I interpret the rules for this item?
  7. Hey peoples ! ? I'm trying to work out some simple additional rules for skirmish, inspired by other GW publications and unofficial mods out there such as Hinterlands. Here's one for injuries (a la Kill Team but better imo) and another for gaining experience points and levels between games. Would this be the kind of stuff you guys would like to try out during your skirmish games/campaigns ? Hope to get some feedback and ideas of your own !
  8. Hi all, So I have decided to go with a red/purple theme for my Nighthaunts, yet I still want my Hexwraiths to be bright Hexwraith Green. Would this violate the paint 'Scheme Coherency' that many tournaments have? Thanks in advance everyone.
  9. Edit: Now there are complete allegiance abilities for all things green. Check out this post further down. That being said, the original Greenskinz allegiance abilities are also around for those who want to peruse those. Hi fellas, So I enjoy coming up with rules in my free time, and have particular love for the old world factions that have wallowed a bit in the muck for a while. I wrote some Free Peoples allegiance abilities a while ago that I never quite fully got out to the public (Apart from the battle trait part), in large part due to the work involved in 'prettyfying' them up. So I've taken a different approach, in a more mundane and boring document without all the prettiness that comes with official GW documents. So anyway, my most recent finished work is on the Greenskinz! I think it's a super shame that Destruction didn't get more allegiance abilities in the GHB2017, I think there are certainly a few candidate factions that easily have enough depth to have their own allegiance abilities. Hopefully that means they're coming soon! But for now, I've tackled the Greenskinz. This mainly is because I have an old 8th edition army that never really saw much play, and I loved the old 'Orcs and Goblins' look. Not Savage Orruks and Moonclan Grots, or Spiderfang Grots, but plain old Orruks and Grots. They never really took off for me, and certainly, I have thought about selling the army, but for some reason... every week I open up Warscroll Builder and write up some Greenskinz lists. Anyway, enough fluff. In the link below you'll find completely untested and 100% fanmade allegiance abilities and warscroll battalions for the Greenskinz. You'll find battle traits for clobbering your enemies, command traits to bulk up your Warboss, magical artefacts to help slay your foes, spells to make your enemies brains burst open with the power of the waaagh, and some warscroll battalions to make the greenskinz even tougher and meaner than before. Overall, please use them if you enjoy them. Feedback is 100% appreciated. Most numbers are pulled out of thin air (or similar warscrolls if I found them). The descriptions will likely be ******, English and creative writing were certainly not my favourite subjects at school. It is unlikely that I'll get to playtest them anytime soon, but who knows, maybe Greenskinz are on my painting horizon. Enough prattling, here's the link, go check it out and look forward to more homemade allegiance rules in future. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NFxA98rO0g2xPS08y1f1BCHcWwGAj-a5HvlBeDo-gkY/edit?usp=sharing
  10. Guys is there a point of buying battletomes with arrival of AoS 2.0 ?? I mean Stormcast are getting new battletome so maybe i next months we will reacive more refreshed stuff. I'm mostly interested in Blades of Khorne & Seraphons battletomes. Also I'm planing, as a new player, to buy new core book. Do you recommend buying GHB 2018 as well. And finally - Maligin Portents, Path to Glory and RealmGate Wars ?
  11. Does anybody have any experience with the Chaos Dwarves in AoS? How do they play? Are they competitive?
  12. Pretty much as the title, I have been trying to find a concrete answer but I have come up with bubkis, this has been bugging me since I got the deepkin book, Fue'than have an ability that lets mounts re-roll to wound rolls of 1 but don't define what counts as a mount, there is a entry for 'mounts' in the deepkin rules but it's referring to how hero traits interact with their ridden beasts So what is a mount is aos?, is it defined anywhere or do we go off terminology of Riders and ridden, if the latter does that mean the ridden monsters such as the leviadon and appolexas count as mounts? i'm sorry if this sounds incredibly newbish but i'd like to KNOW rather than just think XX is how it works when there are abilities that are specific to it and alot of examples could fall into more warmachine territory than cavalry which is what I think of when I hear the word mount
  13. Ok so this is something i thought of that could be a shennanigans play but i want to see if anyone knows a judge response to this or if im outright wrong So im using the luminark and generic order battle line for this example. So if you havent read it the luminark gives a 6 up ward save to all MODELS within 10" of it. So lets say my battle line is in a congo line and they are coating 40 inches of the board. stretched out. The far right 10" side is receiving the luminark buff. the far left side is dealt damage. Now from the rules you can allocate the wound to any model in the unit. So can I take a damage on the left side allocate the wound to the right side inside the luminark buff and take the save?
  14. A viable horde tactic seems to be to daisy chain. I like it, it seems thematic to me for a unit to engage a unit of 60 zombies and whilst cleaving through them easily and saving most hits; the daisy chain tactic kind of represents them being somewhat overwhelmed by the horde as it moves through and around them. I know abilities like invigorating aura the deathly invocation allow this to happen so long as you respect unit cohesion. But these abilities can really stack up and can allow you a lot of flexibility. One of the things it seems possible to do but seems like it needs confirming ; is to daisy chain your way within another units 3" bubble. Is there a consensus on whether this is okay?
  15. Hello! I have played several games with 3 different groups of people and each one plays in a different way than the others. I have a few questions in order to begin to play in the same way for all of them. In the game board selection phase, after the roll-off, the loser chooses a board and then, the winner chooses and places the boards. In the objective token placement, it says that “The player that places the first board places the first objective token” In this case, who of the two players places the first objective token, the one who chose the board or the one who placed them? Another trouble with the game board placement. The loser choose a board. Can the winner flip or rotate the opponent boards when he connects them? I have understand that if attacker gets 2 hammers, and the target gets a critical, it takes no damage and it can’t be driven back either. So, a critical in defense denies all the non-critical successes of the attacker? The weapons traits (as cleave, knockback,…) are activated with an successful attack or only with a critical attack (that one that obtains more critical results than the target)? Regards and thanks!
  16. I've finished the third Efengie Campaign book. These books are put together from the battleplans I use for the Age of Sigmar Game Days that I run more-or-less monthly at my FLGS. In this one (as with the other two below) we've got five battleplans, a campaign system, and some fun little stories about what went down. In the aftermath of the Coalescence War of the Ring, Sigmar's followers have been convinced of Efengie's strategic value. Follow the story of Sigmar's invasion, interlopers from the grim darkness beyond the Eye of Terror, and an epic power struggle with Colossal Red, the Queen of the Monsters. In this book, I made some changes to the Clash of Empires battleplan framework. The biggest change for anyone playing through the campaign book is that each battleplan now has two different battlefields with different secondary objectives. This fits in really nicely with the campaign system since now the winner of each battle gets to choose the battlefield for the next one. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the book! Also, here are links to the first two books if you want to get the whole story so far.
  17. Hi, I have a question related to the sequence of application of a rule; in particular, if a Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut that has this weapon: Daemonic Axe: If the wound roll for an attack made with the Wrathforged Axe is 6 or more, the daemon bound within awakens and guides the strike. The attack inflicts 3 wounds rather than D3. and this artifact: Gorecleaver: Pick one of this HERO’s melee weapons to be a Gorecleaver. Attacks from Gorecleaver inflict an additional -1Rend (for example, a weapon with a Rend characteristic of -1becomes -2 instead). In addition, any wound rolls of 6 made with this weapon inflict a number of mortal wounds equal to the weapon’s Damage characteristic instead of being resolved normally. Which one has precedence? Meaning, if I roll a 6 (and not clear if a natural 6 or it can be affected by modifiers) what happen? The application of 3 damage instead of D3 damage comes first so the Mortal Wounds are exactly 3 or the second rule takes precedence meaning that the "pure" damage characteristic of the weapon is used meaning that I deal D3 mortal wounds? thanks
  18. Where I can find the number of points for playing the Forge World models in balanced AOS games?
  19. Hey, quick question: The Battletome Blades of Khorne says that a Goreclever causes Mortal Wounds on a 6. It specifically does not say on a 6 or more. So I watched a game at Las Vegas Open where I think they used the rule based on „6 or more“. Was there a FAQ? Or was that a mistake? Cheers Christian
  20. (pretty sure this came up before but search function didn't show any results) Can general benefit from his command ability himself if the ability says "pick a KEYWORD unit " or "all KEYWORD units within...", and he has this keyword? Are there exceptions?
  21. so I heavily converted a tzaangor shaman which also involved switching it to the slightly bigger oval base from which the model is now a different shape to the normal model (it's kind of the shape of a horse) how would this affect measuring distances etc
  22. Hello folks. We are wondering in our club how to understand Legacy of the Lodge rule from Warrior Kindband battalion (fyre book) Any Unit of Berzerkers within 10" of runeson, or only models that are within 10" ?
  23. COMMAND ABILITY Savage Charge: If a Scar-Veteran uses this ability, then you can re-roll charge rolls and hit rolls of 1 for SAURUS units within 8". In addition, until your next hero phase this model and any Saurus Knights within 8" make an additional attack with the Cold Ones' Vicious Bites. Given the above (word for word what's on the warscroll, same formatting), what, if any abilities travel with the units? If the command ability is used in the hero phase, and then a unit of Saurus Warriors moves 10" away from the Scar-Veteran, do they still get re-rolls? If a unit of Saurus Knights move away, do they still get the extra attack? EDIT: I'm looking for word smithing arguments for Rules as Written - I have zero interest in 'intent'.
  24. Got a very simple question here; Does the ability Blessings of the forest stack? The ability reads "Subtract 1 from all hit rolls made against this unit if it is within 3" of a Sylvaneth Wyldwood." So if the unit was within 3" of 2 Sylvaneth Wyldwoods does that mean you would Subtract 2 from all hit rolls made against the unit?
