  1. Welcome to the warglut! I think the Gorger Mawpack will be a great unit to include even with Beastclaw Raiders armies. They have a bunch of various utilities with the deepstriking and Cave Howler command disruption. Gorgers in a normal battletome Ogor army (not the Roving Maw Army of Renown) would work the best in Meatfist since they'll be getting extra good mortal wounds on the charge (+1 for more than 3 models, +1 for Meatfist, so on 4+). For accompaniments, a Butcher or Slaughtermaster (probably the latter) with Bloodfeast to give them an extra attack, is good. A Tyrant to prevent more than 1 running from Battleshock is also good. As far as what models might get updates, that's difficult to say for sure, but I suspect next year or whenever the Battletome cycle gets going, they'll get a new Butcher and/or Slaughtermaster. Not certain the Gluttons, Leadbelchers, or Ironguts will get new sculpts though, despite being super old themselves. I think they still kinda work, and are certainly easy to build and paint! Looking at that new Cities ogor sniper guy, or that corpse-grinder Cursed City one, neither are super impressive compared to the Glutton standard model. They just have some better poses. I don't think the Beastclaw Raiders will be getting new monster kits either, nor Mournfangs. BUT Yhetees, Frost Sabres, the Hunter...those might. The Underworlds Frost Sabre is way nicer than the old kit...they could expand on that. So if you end up loving the Mawpack, get 3, and then maybe get 3 of the newer Ogors from the Cities/Cursed City and kitbash them into Butchers/Slaughtermasters, and use the Army of Renown for Roving Maw, and sprinkle in perhaps 3 Ironblasters and 4 single Gorgers (who are old creepy sculpts but you could again easily kitbash these from random bits of appropriate type and size, like Ogor Spawn almost). That's a 2K army and newer sculpts and interesting. I plan to do this.
  2. Anyone tried the Quakefray monster spam at all? I am for some reason strongly tempted by them; lately I've been doing all monster mash armies (SoBs, Bloodthirsters, Stonehorns, looking ahead to Stormcast Dragons). The Ghorgons at being rend-2 with the herdstone, and one at rend-3 w the monster action is super awesome, and wow they get a bunch of attacks and damage! I like the swallow whole potential too; with proper positioning, I could see even Immortis Guard/Morghasts going down vs a Ghorgon mob. I'd probably go with the Shaggoth as the General since he is tough and can heal decently, and somewhat decent in combat now. Maybe with that Slakefray Reveller one for super fast monsters? All I have right now is a Cockatrice.
  3. No, not yet. My next game though I'll give at least the HoTT and FLoSH a whirl. I saw these both pretty cheap 2nd hand so figured I'd get them. I like the strike last stomp on the TT, the breath might be useful, and with the Rimefrost Hide and -1 to hit in melee I think can withstand some pain much better than it used to be able to do. Hard to argue with more Stonehorns though! But with Yhetee spam, you pretty much need a TT as general.
  4. I would look to 40k probably, or Ogor Mourfang guys come with some pistols that could be good.
  5. I am unfortunately needing to sell my Steam Tank army and other stuff due to some medical expenses. So I'll just leave this link in case anyone's interested. (I have some Dark Aelves available too). Cities of Sigmar Steam Tank x5 army lot Luminark Bits Lord Ordinator COOL | eBay I added the UK and Canada to my shipping countries besides the USA...the eBay international system is a bit slow but has been pretty good at getting things to there with their international shipping system (otherwise the US Postal Service would want nearly $100 to get this size box via Priority Mail overseas, and to Canada probably at least $50).
  6. Wondering how this frozen list might fare next game? Yhetees are still intriguing me for some reason. Guess I'm always looking for stuff that nobody really sees on the table....but that could be for a good reason(s)? Not quite sure of the other particulars yet. Allegiance: Ogor Mawtribes - Mawtribe: Winterbite - Grand Strategy: - Triumphs: Leaders Frostlord on Stonehorn (460) - General - Command Trait: Touched by the Everwinter - Artefact: Arcane Tome (Universal Artefact) - Prayer: Pulverising Hailstorm Huskard on Thundertusk (330) - Blood Vulture - Mount Trait: Rimefrost Hide - Prayer: Call of the Blizzard Slaughtermaster (140) - Lore of Gutmagic: Blood Feast Battleline Units 6 x Icefall Yhetees (220) - Reinforced x 1 6 x Icefall Yhetees (220) - Reinforced x 1 2 x Mournfang Pack (170) - Gargant Hackers 2 x Mournfang Pack (170) - Gargant Hackers 2 x Mournfang Pack (170) - Gargant Hackers 20 x Gnoblars (120) Total: 2000 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 2 / 4 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 140 Drops: 9
  7. I'm still lacking the Battletome and can't find the judgements anywhere for a decent normal price. But that's alright because I only have the hounds built anyways. I tried my 4 Ogors custom Chaosy looking Ironblaster army yesterday and am not convinced theyre the best use of my cannons....and it looks like I can fit all 4 as skull cannons with the three normal Thirster and hounds, a blood master, and wrath axe. I think I'll have to give that a try before committing them. Seems viable especially with Reapers of vengeance.
  8. Mission was Frigid Zephyr, exactly the WRONG mission for a bunch of Ironblasters! But we were in combat pretty quick so I could really only shoot what was engaged then anyways. Leadbelchers kinda suck unless they stand still and fire, and even then, not super hot. The cannons did alright, and being Underguts I just moved forward and did Hail Shot everytime. Wanted to do the big shots turn 1 but: Zephyr. Oh well. I spread out too thinly I think, as he was able to pick me off very effectively in combat; I keep doing that with my armies. Especially in games with that few objectives (3 in this game) you really only need to control 2. He had Stormkeep though so many of his units counted as 3 models on objectives. I did some decent Trampling Charge rolls, but his Annhilators and Storm Chariot did it even better! And he managed several 10-12" charges into all my cannons so they were never able to do the Blubbergrub Stampede. Also Stormcast explode! And his subfaction could fight on death on a 5+. All that adds up over a game. Yes, I think castling is the way to go. Also, I realized the Bloodpelt Hunter cannot deepstrike, for some reason I thought he could, but he did sneak around until I just forgot about him. Ironguts did pretty well turn 1 and were able to get rid of 10 Vindictors over 2 rounds. But I think next time I might try taking them, a cannon or two, and the Hunter out, and putting in a Stonehorn and Thundertusk instead. Probably still Underguts though, and Command Entourage for extra Mount Trait. I played terribly, forgot the Hunter was out there, AND forgot I had two Grand Battery battalions so coulda saved some CPs and blasted better. Oh well, it was still a fun furious learning game.
  9. I'll be fighting an unknown Stormcast army tomorrow with my Underguts. Going with Slaughter of Sorcery so I made my Butcher the general Gastromancer for a juicier target. But I think the guy's a newer player so maybe he won't be able kill my 1 wizard. My first game with Ogors in a long time! Butcher (general, Gastromancer, Hoarfrost) Tyrant (Brawlerguts, Trophy Rack) Bloodpelt Hunter 3x4 Leadbelchers 1x4 Ironguts 4 Ironblasters Bloodthirsty Triumph I'll take pics and report later....
  10. Guess if there are hit debuffs going on the Reapers would be good for the Thirsters. Top bracket all the time is good though especially over the battle. I'll practice and see what averages out to the best performance. I'm waiting for good deals on the old metal Bloodletters of various sort before I do the Bloodlords. Sorta like a daemons of Khorne museum army. I have 2 of the 2nd edition ones as my 2 Bloodmasters. The 1st edition ones are for sure the worst but I kinda like their silly weirdness, and I can totally see the inspiration behind the current plastic ones in them. The 3rd versions are pretty cool actually, very goaty but still with properly daemonic faces and BIG AXES.
  11. Will these new Gorgers from the Warcry box get a whole Warband unit warscroll for AoS?! That would be kinda cool if they could all deepstrike and get some kinda charge bonus or do big gulping bites for extra damage or something.
  12. What is the best subfaction for a Skarbrand/3 Thirster army? Reapers of Vengeance or Baleful Lords? All but the Rage Thirster hit on 2s already and w AOA and Titanic duel, is the Reapers buff really that necessary for them? Seems like the top bracket is best for all but Skarbrand....on Goonhammer thought their description of the subfaction says it didn't apply to Skarbrand? but I don't have the tome yet.
  13. How about this? Got speed, some Suppressing Fire action, Aelvish dikkery. Magic shmagick! Misthavn 270 Steam Tank Commander 120 Cavalier-Marshal (general: Fiery Temper, Sigmarite Hammer) 120 Cavalier-Marshal (Manticore Venom) 120 Cavalier-Marshal 90 Black Ark Fleetmaster 180 Cavaliers x5 180 Cavaliers x5 180 Cavaliers x5 180 Black Ark Corsairs x20 230 Steam Tank 110 Tree Revenants x5 (allies) 110 Tree Revenants x5 (allies) 110 Tree Revenants x5 (allies) 2000 Or this for a more full cavalry army: Misthavn 270 Steam Tank Commander 120 Cavalier-Marshal (general: Fiery Temper, Sigmarite Hammer) 120 Cavalier-Marshal 120 Cavalier-Marshal 280 Dreadlord on Black Dragon (Lance/Shield, Venomfang Blade) 180 Cavaliers x5 180 Cavaliers x5 180 Cavaliers x5 140 Drakespawn Knights x5 380 Spiterider Lancers x6 (allies) 1970
  14. That skin is looking excellent! I for sure want to step-up my hobby on my megas. Just started assembling my Cthulhu Kraken Eater. Brodd will have an HP Lovecraft head. Nyarlathotep will be mass of tentacles coming out of the Balewind Vortex; and Yog-Sothoth....I have one sphere from the Mutalith kit and that's it for Yoggy so far. Gonna be a tough project.
  15. I think I might need another Stank Commander. Then I can do 2 clusters and everybody could be front line Advance Formation to run/shoot/charge. Could fit in a Warforger and LordOrd each wing, and another 5 Tree Revenants for whatevs. 1970 pts. Take that Scourgerunners!
  16. Getting to those juicy support heroes are key to success! Tough to do though with the new LookOutSir rules. Things that target points on the battlefield are good too for that (like Luminarks, 2 or 3 of them).
  17. Trying to think of what Order allies might help mitigate enemy visibility or shooting? Prismatic Palisade comes to mind. Oh wow, just realized those triple-triple Scourgerunner Chariots would be rocking 27 collective harpoon shots which in Greywater would be hitting on 2s. That's pretty much 2 dead megagargants! Still, thar be aplenty way to shut down commands, I say, YAARRR. (pirate voice).
  18. That is amazing! Really good to see some new stuff take the podium. I almost want to keep all my Dark Aelves now just to put sparkly glitter all over them Definitely a big mass of chariots to get through, tons of bodies in the back for objectives. Those are super fast monster killers, plus everything else killers with the Fleetmasters there. Massed cheap redundant heroes for Orders, good stuff. And pretty much any Aelvish units charging will Strike First if they want. Were there any Steam Tank players?! Wondering how those will fare in competitive scenes. Or all Cavaliers, which also seems potent. I think redundant Warforgers will do well in a similar fashion, buffing saves when they're not giving MW auras.
  19. Yeah the Tree Revenants do that every turn anywhere on the table, and get a once per game free AoA or AoD. Pretty decent in combat if needed too. Forgot about Palladors. Those guys are cool! The Vanguard Hunters can teleport to within 6" of the board edge, which is less good but still something. Realizing that Steam Tanks w Advance in Formation and More Pressure to the Wheels would be REALLY fast. Run/Shoot/Charge....that's a pretty good alpha strike to pin things down and soften them up whilst the 2nd/3rd waves of infantry and cavalry come up behind, possibly to Counter Charge. I just built my Underguts 4xIronblaster army, but am thinking my Steam Tank army might surpass them in mobile shooty chariot capacity. Allied Stormstrike Chariots come to mind now too. A couple of those are pretty fast and great on the charge, and still tanky with a 3+ save and like 10-11 wounds? Hmmm.
  20. The only good game I ever had vs Ironjawz was with my old Legion of Azgorh, and he took 3 magma cannons and 40 Fireglaive shots bottom of turn 1....goodbye Mawkrushas! Here's some Clan Eshin battleshots.....killing Gobbsprakk was SOOOO gratifying!
  21. I might do the allied Stormdrake Guard. For now I only have a Knight Draconis, or 4 Desolators. Desolators have some MW breath, very solid consistent AP2 melee, of course slower than the Stormdrakes but I like them. The other allied option would be Tree Revenants, 3x5 of them. Or if Living City, Tree Revs 1x5 plus Treelord. Outflank the Treelord for backfield mayhem and terrain smashing.
  22. I finally found an altar for a decent price! Looks like the Judgements are still out of stock 😛 I'm going full Bloodthirster now, with 1 of each type, including Skarbrand, then 3 units of Flesh Hounds, and since it's all Daemons, 2 Bloodmasters. Then looks like I can fit Hexgorger Skulls and the Wrath Axe in there too. Saw a guy running a similar list at a tournament this weekend, and he clobbered Kroak & Co, and won at least 1 other game. I think he might have had all regular Thirsters, and some Bloodletters instead of the Hounds, though I suppose those could have been summoned.
  23. I guess if anyone has a hero-phase charge rule, then if they can retreat far enough and make it to within 5" of say, a shooty enemy, they just pile-in because when anyone charges previously in the turn they get to pile-in, and even if they can't strike in the combat phase for being a bit too far away after the pile-in, the enemy wouldn't be able to Unleash Hell, or shoot at anyone else in their next turn. Beardy cheez I say.
