Congrats on the result at LGT! Looking forward to the rundown, i dont have a Ziflin list but toying with splitting my Wardens into 3x3 instead of a single unit of 9 for AGOM this weekend.

Great looking blog @stato!
It's awesome to see another Tempest's Eye player (and even more awesome to see one with their models painted in the proper colours, which most of mine are not).
The Archmage is fantastic, what do you plan on converting your Freeguild general out of?
Thanks DM, the general was going to be based on an Excelsior Warpriest, but i seem to have lost the model somewhere so it might not happen. It was an idea i came up with entirely on my own, or at least i thought i had until i stumbled on something in my browser history (no not that) and remembered id seen this late last year. Great blog and another Tempest and Dwarf player!

Fantastic ideas, and great execution, well done!

Looks good, not sure why you didnt use aetherspheric endrins to just deploy closer though? Bringing all the extra rigger and arkanaut pistol shots into range would have helped, and with 3 grapnels you can still get the charge range down for the riggers.
One thing though, you cant buff the Ironclad (I made this mistake before and was corrected).
QuoteI used the Three Khemest to buff up the drill cannons, light sky hooks in one unit, and the torpedoes on the Ironclad.

I used skymines on one of mine too! Makes it easier to differentiate as I use one as my general.

Wow some great conversion work with those (i recognise some parts but not all), would love to see some in progress shots if you have any. Paintjob is amazing too!

Overall, I appreciate what Games Workshop are trying to do. I just think they need to follow through on some of their ideas. Show us it's not just a hindrance to us (Where before, we could run a synergistic Highborn or Exiles army). I want to play an army full of Dragon Armoured Aelf Warriors, but I don't want to play with just Dragon Blades and Dragonlords. I want to create a Phoenix Temple force, but I could use some mini-Phoenixes! I love the Scourge Privateers, so where's their flying skyship? Tons of great ideas that are just waiting for some awesome models and a battletome to go with.
The problem is, thats what they WERE trying to do. You are judging a decision made probably 3 years ago in a place where they either didnt have a plan or have certainly diverted from it. Path to Glory handbook has grouped Aelfs back together, we need to see what GHB2 does to these legacy units. I dont see any new models or tomes for any of these factions though, seems like their current approach is to just create a new well rounded faction that just happens to be a Orc/Human/Dwarf/Elf.

Thanks for writing this. I'm away with work next week and was thinking what to do with my spare time. This will be the first time ive travelled since taking the hobby back up so appreciate the tips youve shared, should help me actually achieve something rather than just sit about watching tv.

I think with terrain you want people to interact with it in their actions, not just move past it like it was not even there. Creating valleys or canyons would work well i think for this. Im not convinced by corner hills from the few games ive had them, they do look great but never add anything to games. However a big central hill, say half of the centre, with additional features really makes for some great game play and very cinematic.
My local gaming centre has a great table like this. Its a death themed table, central hill graveyard with walls and fences to climb (or find a gate if you are a dwarf) and a few buildings. Its not a lot but its enough to impact movement, charging and LOS to smaller Hero's.

With the Agrellan Earth is it a case of the more you paint on the bigger the cracks?
You need it fairly thick to get any cracks, but its the speed of drying and subsurface that gets you bigger cracks. Paint it over smooth painted surface and you get big cracks, rough surface leaves smaller, as it cant slide as it shrinks so you get more smaller cracks rather than fewer and larger).

They look really nicely done. Some nice tapering on them. I think some individual large hill/stones would supplement these nicely, you could use them separate part of the board into a sort of melee zone.

The Kharadrons look really cool, would love to know how you did the barnacles and the bases and the ropes and... well, all of it!

Very very cool!

Good work, keep at it. Everyone thinks stormcast are easy to paint (spray gold, done) but these newer models have loads of details to paint. Looking good, great dedication!
