    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

The Stormbringer

An ancient device created by the Astromancer Crystaran the mad, that helps monitor the magics flowing from Azyr as well as upon the battlefield creating large storms of magical energy. it was discovered within a destroyed laborator, High in the surrounding mountains during an exploration of an abandoned settlement. The mad inventor Heramedis, built a large clockwork engine with mechanical legs, that allowed the device to be deployed where necessary as well as traverse the heavy and difficult mou

Nice to start another colour!

Making good progress with the first layer for the white. What you see here is celestra grey. The good news is, the sections which are white are limited and I've made pretty good progress; the bad news is that it's probably gonna take about 3 layers to get a decent opaque base down. I remember this from doing the test model. It's a pretty messy step as well so I can already see multiple spots which will need to be touched up once all base colours are down. Felt really good finally getting some co

Survival of the Fittest...or Shiniest

Kronak was still furious over the loss of his chimera.  After recruiting his new lieutenant, Skarlak, he immediately put him to the task of tracking down another chimera to add to his army.  To make up for the power he lost, he was able to recruit more of his Thunderscorn brethren.  During their march, a disgusting sorcerer who obvious followed the god of disease aproached Kronak and asked to join him for the march.  His purpose is unknown, but be brought a manticore, so Kranak allowed it.

Introducing Skarlak the Grey...also Cuchulag's glow up

"Cuchulag has become unreliable", thought Kronak after the fight with the nighthaunt army.  "I cannot afford to that kind of insubordination.  Who does he think he is?  I MADE him!".  To make matters worse, we lost the chimera that has helped us so much.  I think it is time to find a new champion.  One who will do as instructed.  There is on I have in mind that has been delving into the necromantic arts and will help me fight against the power of those ghosts should I need it again." Narrative from the Ghost Side

This is a narrative from my last game from my opponents point of view that I thought was cool and he allowed me to add here:     Night falls and the specters rise. As always in this realm, death has no true meaning here. Death is only just the beginning of an eternal service to the dark lord Nagash.  Tonight, was to be another for these specters to rise. Another night to haunt.  The Beasts of Chaos, a name they call themselves rather arrogantly. With the new realm taking

The Sylvaneth of the Witch Hazel

It begins with a single sapling, pushing through the earth as the days shorten and the nights grow darker. Perhaps growing in a town square, sometimes hidden in an overgrown garden. Most frequently, it will take root somewhere in the wilderness of the realms, unseen and unnoticed. The sapling is not much to look at save for one detail- even in heat of the sun its leaves are frozen solid.  Those who have heard the legend will act quickly. A mage or priest may dig the sapling up, set a fire w

Vindenspite: WiP Adalia Neverfall & Big Jim

(So to clarify the title big Jim is what I lovingly named my incarnate champion in divinity original sin 2 with my friends. Which is also where Adalia comes from, this was very much my attempt to bring the pair into my AoS army as one of my common opponents is one friend I play DoS2 with)   Here is the finished models for my outcast Vindenspite character Adalia and her beast, once painted they will share the same base. I will also update the warscroll I had been working on for them to

The Assassin

These two were first models I made for the army. They are Assassin count as. Well the one with wings is techenically originally meant to be Nomad Prince w/ Thermal Rider.    So while actual Shadowblade models not a massive fan of. I loved the Splintered Fang models. So you can see the base here. The Assassins use Splintered Fang, Dark Eldar Scourge and Scourge Ark. The first one has its snakes representing the poison, leaping from a striking pose. The second model was designed to be

Power in Numbers...of Spooky Ghosts

As darkness descended, the army prepared to eat what little was left of the last village they raided.  Cuchulag, still feeling smug from his last victory, the breyherd amusing themselves, the thunderscorn off, away from the others as normal.  Suddenly a chill came over the camp.  This wasn't just the normal chill of night coming on, but something much more sinister.  Cuchulag could feel the excitement building and sensed something else, another challenger.... The glow in the distance a

Cygor Complete...Mostly

Finished the Cygor a little while ago.  Wel...I mostly finished the Cygor.  I think I'm calling him done for now.  I have a bunch of little dangly things that probably should be added but I kind of like it how it is and ran out of motivation.  I'm worried it will be  little busy with too much more but he probably needs a few things on his left hip which looks a bit bare.  I do also have a head and arms for a Ghorgon which I can swap out if I need to.

Red ones go faster

Kids recently started back at nursery... first time since the pandemic. Needless to say the whole house has been very ill for about two weeks. Was able to start up again this week though so thought I'd post an update. Managed to block out all black sections with Abaddon Black. This was mainly the guns for the Longstrike and the reverse of the shields. Both can be seen in the pics. Also made a good start with the first coat of red. I chose Mephiston Red for both the red fabric and also the r

Game #13: Flesh-Eater Courts vs. Cities of Sigmar

AoS 3.0 Game #13 August 28th, 2021 @ Old Dice Wargaming Club Flesh Eater Courts (Feast Day) vs. Cities of Sigmar (Hallowheart) We had a four player group for this week’s game day at the club, and our fourth happened to be another Soulblight player. So in order to avoid mirror matches I chose to bring my dusty old FEC army. I haven’t played FEC since SBG released, which was slightly before the release of third edition. Going through the book with 3rd edition in mind made me think

Cuchulag's Vindication

Kronak looked out at his enemy, "So the followers of the blood god have found this amber deposit as well.  He will be happy with the blood flowing today, but it will not be ours.  Cuchulag, we will handle the brunt of this.  Go to the right flank and deal with his lesser followers and try to stay in the fight this time." Cuchulag grumbled at the disrespect but followed the orders.  He sent his group of Bestigors to sweep around and attempt to outflank the enemy.  As he looked out, he saw wh

Army Updates

I completed the Dragon Ogors right on time for my first 1000 pt fight.  I ran into a bit of a conundrum here.  It has been a couple years since I painted my last Dragon Ogors and I couldn't decide if I should try to match them or just do what I liked now.  Some of my paints and tools are different and I had some different ideas.  It first came up when I put a very different green paint on them.  When I saw then next to each other, I was a bit worried.  I decided to lean into the difference and j

Vindictors are fiddly

I mean, honestly, if the spears don't get snapped off at least once before this is over I'll be super surprised! They're not Nighthaunt fiddly but those spears are awkward! Lush models though.  Managed to get a second layer of grey seer on this week. Finished up last night and started work on laying down the black contrast. I managed to get half the army done - the other half I'll get done tonight. It felt so good getting the grey seer stage out the way. So far I'm pretty happy with how thi

A Couple Matched Play Battle Reports

Here are a couple games I played with my beasts.  These aren't part of the league so no narrative on these but use a lot of these same models.  These were my first "real" games of v3 and the first time I've used the BoC in a couple years outside of the escalation league. First battle was 1000 pts vs Gravelords.  I brought two units of Dragon Ogors, a Chimera, Ungor Raiders, Ungors for sacrifice, a Shaggoth general, and a shaman.  I used Gavespawn.  He played Radukar the Beast, a character t

The Thunderscorn Return

Cuchulag sat contemplating... "It's true that I just barely got away from the reavers, but we did accomplish our mission and discovered the amberstone ley lines, so why is the boss coming here.  Kronak hasn't come down from the mountains in years, since his last attempt to find a way to Azyr.  This is my fight, not his!  He recruited me.  He recognized the talent.  I will show all of these lesser being the true meaning of chaos!  My new shaman thinks he's detected a cockatrice in the area t

Wanted to start off...

... with an apology. My phone really doesn't have the best camera and I'm far too poor to invest in anything to improve the situation. Plus, any spare cash I do have, I'd rather spend on modelling gear and paints. Not really buying models at the minute. There's no need really with the amount of grey I have. I totalled up the other night and my unpainted SCE alone sits at over 7k. Ridiculous. That's kinda one of the main reasons why I'm pushing myself with this blog. I've so much SCE suddenly tha

Vindenspite Lore: Adalia Neverfall, the burning Pariah (WIP)

Vindenspite is home to all manner of people, from righteous warriors to dubious scoundrels, from cocky duellists to cunning tacticians it truly is a city of different people all united by a desire to survive and flourish. Though even in such a melting pot of people there are still those who are looked upon with scorn, fear or pity. One such individual is the woman known as Adalia Neverfall, the woman who should be dead many times over, the woman who most believe is damned, the woman who's innerm

Harder than I thought...

Managed to get my target for the week done - basecoat the armour. Process started with a zenithal highlight using vallejo model air chrome. This is an absolutely lush colour. Would very much recommend it. Used the air brush for this step - something new for me except for test models for the project. Previously I said I'd been prepping for this project for about a year. Most of that was saving up for the airbrush and compressor and trying to figure out what to do with it! I reckon I've a fair amo

Undercoat merriment

Managed to get everything undercoated with Leadbelcher. Used a rattle can for this. Know they get a lot of stick online at times but I've never had an issue with Citadel sprays. Suppose I'm fortunate to live in a place that, despite the rain, is pretty ideal for them. One thing did annoy me in this step. For each model, I will dust them off using a soft brush prior to spraying. I used to have a dog and it's become force of habit - I've painted far too many dog hairs onto my minis in my time! I d
