  1. Has anyone tried any of these kits as Shadow Warriors? Mirkwood look like the best models, but Middle Earth Rangers are an easier paint. All are plastic and very cheap. As a scout-type unit, the small size might actually work. Especially if they are on tree stumps (or whatever), so the difference in height is less noticeable.
  2. To be honest, I was considering dropping the second TLA anyway, and just dumping the second unit of Shadow Blades onto an objective, or something. That would free-up points for upgrading the Frost Phoenix, and still leave 160 points for infantry upgrades or an addition unit (e.g. a foot Sorceress).
  3. The Treelord model - which looks like a bad guy from Halo - always put me off, but Treebeard (with a staff added) has potentally increased my enthusiasm for having some big trees. I was looking to build a gimmick around Treelord Ancients popping off Wildwoods, then dumping maximum-sized blocks of Shadow Warriors in each to shoot (terrain=2+/3+) and obviously then using the Shoot and Melt Away for 3-inch charges against a severly softened target. A Nomad Prince with a Deepmire Cloak would be well-served in a WIldwood too, and the two Treelord Ancients could subsequently bounce between the two woods, where needed for their toughening/healing spells. * Removed, as it doesn't work * (PS: Yes, I know about the non-hero Frostheart Phoenix being very non-optimal, but I'm running a winter theme, and he's an easy paint job too, lol.) (PS: Glade Guard for Darkshards, head-swapped Eternal Guard for Dreadspears and Mirkwood Rangers on treestumps for Shadow Warriors should eliminate the need for any stupid High/Dark elves or old metal/Finecast models).
  4. I can't see them discontinuing the Eternal Guard and Wild Riders kit. They are pretty modern-looking kits. Also, on the former, many people like disciplined, cloaked elves, and half-naked ferral elves don't neccessarily scratch the same itch (kinda like, say, Witch Elves vs. Black Guard, or whatever). Getting rid of the old faithful Glade Guard kit was harsh, but - despte it being an iconic box - you could see the age and having 16-per-box was awkward. They do prove that being white-boxed doesn't mean you are safe, though (see also: Start Collecting Greenskins, Spire of Dawn, etc.). Finally, CoS (especially Living City) is super popular. Discontinuing a load of models (and therefore warscrolls) would cause a huge ruckus. In general, if it is plastic, has a sprue that contains the correct number of models and holds up by modern aesthetic standards, it should never be squatted IMHO. Having the logistically accomodate a few more kits is never worse than the initial fallout of those customers the squatting hits and the spooking of those who were not hit (yet). At worse, make them webstore-only.
  5. Tomb Kings players know this feeling (re: OBR). Ever considered running Phoenicium, with the WHFB kits (and maybe a sprinking of LRL counts-as)?
  6. Yea, I tried to concentrate on models that are just completely dated, rather than recent sculpts that many people didn't think hit the mark. However, to my eye, Teclis was just too bad to not include. Also, I guess the Slaghterbrute and Razorgor are just about recent enough to sort of fit into that category for me, too. FWIW, I don't hate the current Blood Knights, but everyone else seems to (or is it just the price?)
  7. Not a huge fan of Daemonettes myself (they are too static, IMHO), but...
  8. Amazingly, when I saw Step 9 to Step 10, I pictured the exact same owl meme in my head.
  9. Anyone know the size of the new Treebeard? Remove the hobbits, and he's a cool model...
  10. I'll be coming back to the UK from China next month, and the skulls will arrive shortly after me (I posted all my Warhammer stuff by surface delivery last week) Maybe I can trade them for a sprue or partial-sprue of skulls? You'd be up around fifty skulls, lol I really need to find someone who is buying loads of skull packs, in order to cover some kind of base/terrain in thousands of skulls.
  11. Hi. I need more than twenty-two of these two skulls (i.e. eleven of each), but don't feel like spending $330 on Citadel Skulls boxes in order to obtain them. Does anyone have any spare? I can pay or trade (e.g. if someone needs piles of skulls for a project - but not those two - we can split on one-or-more boxes). Or, failing that, are there any other companies that sell hollow skulls of this exact size (i.e. that fit snugly over the head of a Crypt Horror, after its ears have been removed) Cheers, Si
  12. I am considering buying and painting 140 Black Ark Corsairs (having abandoned my Scourge Privateers four years ago), and this thread scares me.
  13. Is this city in the Realm of Fire, as that is what Anvilgard was? Or has the Realm of Shadow expanded to take over this city?
  14. I am just glad that the dark, misty, mysterilus dark elf pirate port city is not longer in the realm of... fire (?!?) The name even fits the theme now.
  15. Are Screamers still ******, beyond a late game whizz over to an objective? I didn't follow the new Tzeentch book much, but still never see them in any armies.
  16. Removing Anvilgard would be a stupid decision, and that's why I trust the current GW not to do it (although the Mercenaries thing was iffy). It would literally spook every player of a faction made up of models pre-2015 and kill much of the interest in CoS in general, as a "Who's next?" feeling would hang over the faction. A CoS army is often a huge commitment in terms of sourcing, converting and painting, and nobody wants that under such circumstances. Anyway, Anvilgard seems potentially quite popular in terms of concept, with the rules generally putting people off. Conversely, The Phonicium thread on this forum is on Page 3, lol (although, I wouldn't want that city to get squatted either, for the reasons outlined above).
  17. I live in China, and you can barely move for Halloween-related promotions here. Black and orange everywhere, from bakeries to supermarkets, from toy shops to bars. Neither is offensive, IMHO, unless someone would find a Chinese manufactuer/business selling stuff using, say, Christmas as offensive., and I am fairly certain that 90% of Western people would not (and those that do probably dislike the commercialisation of a religious holiday in the West too - so it happening in China wouldn't even be a factor anyway).
  18. A Dreadwood army?!? Oh, please, please, please...
  19. This is Forgeworld we are talking about. A company that had loads of existing cool monsters, didn't spend 20 minutes updating the PDFs with KEYWORDS to make them playable and then retired them all citing low sales.
  20. Warhammer Weekly had the best idea, IMHO... An Orruk-style book (i.e. two separate armies in one book)... (1) A Neferata-led army of decadent vampires that would be the successor of Soulblight and Legion of Blood. Of course, as with Slaves to Darkness, a Start Collecting box with new Blood Knights would be a no brainer here. (2) A Mannfred-led army of all the remaining LON detritus (i.e. zombies, basic skellies, wolves, bats, etc.), which would replace Legion of Night. Of course Legion of the Sacrament lost its raison d'etre with the release of OBR.
