  1. Plus, elves are depicted to fight more with speed, agility and magic, and to rely less on strength and size. Which makes female fighters being at the same level as males more believable. (Yes, I know, the dimorphism in humans is actually not that big (=not as big as young men tend to believe). Could be considerably bigger or smaller or even the other way around in fantasy races, but that theme has not really been explored all that much in Fantasy as a whole)
  2. I’d hope rather for some Siege rules/scenarios, even if only for narrative games, than just having a possibility to kill off the odd faction terrain buff. This would also make objectives much less abstract.
  3. Battletomes were important and a pressing issue, I agree. I just wonder why they spent time and energy on (sometimes quite weird and exotic) miniatures, like the Kurnothi or those three goblin wolf riders that don’t fit in anywhere, when, say, a new box of ninja rats or acolytes would have sold so much better, and wouldn’t have been more work.
  4. Yea, I don’t get it too. Skaven are quite unique, they have a lot of design possibilities and afaik they are and always were quite popular. For all those reasons (I thought) they got their battletome early on. Then... nothing. Why not cash in on their popularity with new models right and left?
  5. How would one go about building something like this? Maybe building a gargant model, then partially melt it? Would be difficult to control the melting process. But the result could be sufficiently horrifying. 😳
  6. The Gorgers of the Ogor Mawtribes are a bit like this.
  7. The All Alone rule of Mordheim. Believable psychological aspect, easy to use rule. Very thematic, and makes the little plastic heroes so much more human. Plus, it makes single elite fighters quite a risky approach. For those who don’t remember: Being outnumbered and alone is a nerve-racking situation for any warrior. If your warrior is fighting alone against two or more opponents, and there are no friendly models within 6" (knocked down, stunned or fleeing friends do not count), he must make a test at the end of his combat phase. The test is taken against the model’s Leadership on 2D6. If the warrior scores equal to or under his Leadership his nerve holds. If the score is greater than his Leadership, the warrior breaks from combat and runs. Each one of his opponents may make one automatic hit against him as he turns to run. If the model survives, he runs 2D6" directly away from his enemies. At the start of each of his turns, the warrior must take another Leadership test. If he passes, he stops but can do nothing else during his own turn except cast spells. If he fails or is charged, he runs 2D6" towards the nearest table edge, avoiding any enemy models. If he reaches the table edge before he has managed to recover his nerves, he is removed from combat. If a warrior is charged while he is fleeing, the charger is moved into base contact as normal, but the fleeing warrior will then run a further 2D6" towards the table edge, before any blows can be struck.
  8. Sounds logical. Oftentimes they have buffs which are useful for a certain unit anyway.
  9. You’re absolutely right. Ogors, for example, always had a strong mercenary theme. They even have a unit (Maneaters) that stresses this point. They should be able to ally with many forces outside Destruction. Others don’t really fit into the GA system, too. I mean, the whole game is based on „everyone fights everyone all the time“. The fixed Grand Alliances stand in the way of how the game is working, and of what storylines are possible.
  10. The arm is really thin. As much as I would wish otherwise, somehow it speaks more Nighthaunt than Vampire/Ghoul/Whatever to me.
  11. I think the Warscroll Builder, combined with the AoS warscroll app is the easiest way to get a feel for the possible armies you can build. And it’s all for free. 😊
  12. Rules-lighter systems seem to be the trend. After accumulating more and more rules over the years, several systems made a cut recently. Even Shadowrun has Anarchy as an alternative. Good to hear that the AoS-RPG went that way instead of the likes of Dark Heresy (which, as much as I like the idea, is all but unplayable IMO).
  13. What’s more Destruction than big ragtag war machines? We Ogors do have them, but they have weak rules. Maybe Stone-hurling Gargants will make up for this? Hobgoblin mounted archers would also be a nice addition, which would fit in all the destruction armies. Maybe as mercenaries/allies only?
  14. Looking at an app takes me out of the direct experience in any context. If I’d spend actually more time with looking at an app than looking at the table, I’d really rather play a computer game in the first place. But I’m old, and surely the next generations will have a very different point of view. Which is ok. The only problem I see is that complexity can (and, thus, maybe will) be added and handled, complexity that you don’t even have to be aware of the whole time. Which objectively does divide you from experiencing the game as it works.
  15. There are lots of possibilities to build plants and trees from different materials. Not saying it could be done easy or quick, but it doesn’t have to be expensive.
  16. Ogors Gluttons are still tough and fast, have a devastating charge, are good to buff and due to multiple wound models good to heal. Not bad for an unconditional battleline.
  17. I immediately thought „WoW Blood Elves“. In a good way. 😃
  18. I often wonder why the being invested in losses issue seems to work better with 40k. Maybe because the whole Grimdark one minute til midnight trope makes the loss of each planet count? The Imperium is shrinking, while it feels like the Realms are expanding. Also, the planets often fully depend on other planets in the vicinity, just to be able to feed themselves.
  19. It’s actually a risky strategy of GW, I think. People quickly get suspicious toward everything new if it gets ended after a short time. People learn from experiences, especially bad ones. As far as I remember, the whole idea of the last GHB was that it would last for years and only the booklet with the points would get updated annually? Wasn’t this even officially stated?
  20. You mean historically crazy snake elf women went to war in armor?
  21. Actually, I have no idea what gender anyone here is. Doesn’t interest me either.
  22. At least in Dark Heresy rpg, among the members of the Tyrantine Cabal (a group of high ranking inquisitors) several are women and one is dark-skinned. The Inquisition has different problems, it seems. 😎
  23. In the Warhammer online pc Game, there was the possibility to play most characters as female. And many players (predominantly male, I assume) used this opportunity. Maybe the players are much more advanced than GW thinks?
  24. In the case of Mawtribes it’s not that many. And since it’s mostly miniatures which have a niche that’s fillable with other units (and which don’t have the strongest rules anyway), it’s not really a big problem for most players. That said, I’d be the first to order new plastic yhetees. 😁
  25. I just think Zombies and skeletons make the perfect ship crew. No food problems, can row and pull sails around the clock without tiring, don’t fear to climb the mast in the worst storm, can not drown, do not get sick. Not prone to mutiny or alcoholism. All the usual problems are just not an issue for them.
