  1. Christmas battleforces also make excellent starts into the hobby. Loads of value and playable forces there.

  5. The Vostarg rules have now been legitimised for play without opponents permission: https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Jp8AWDibSM2831yA.pdf
  6. I think you have put a lot of points in a gimmick that won't be super effective in ME. A battalion at this points level is less effective than more bodies on the field as objectives are critical in ME. Whoever gets to them first is difficult to push off and you have fewer rounds to do it. The endless spell thing also won't be super effective due to the staggered nature of deployments. You can drop the WLV in one place, but their army will be likely spread across the whole field so you've spent a lot of points for a minor effect. In this format, the key things are movement, surprise and hitting power. I found the Endrinmaster in Dirigible does great work here as he punches well above his weight and is super mobile. Gunhaulers also do well as they can fly high out of combat (they don't degrade with wounds) and instantly threaten something else. They're very slippery. In my last game I had a squad of five rifle thunderers in a gunhauler zipping around the field doing nice harassment work. Arkanauts are solid as you can get them onto objectives pretty quickly for their buffs and they're also vital for screening some of the nastier charging things that can destroy a small ME force. In my experience, ME is about one or two hammers and a lot of very weak anvils. If you can take those hammers off the field early, they can't do much. So focusing on shooting and having a large threat range to focus down units as they come onto the battlefield edge is very effective. Nothing is finer than shooting their spearhead off the field, then flying high and shooting their main body off the field as it arrives. With a good comp and the right luck, there is a degree of spawn camping you can do which will give you a huge advantage. Being able to sit on one objective and contest another by gunning down their forces and swooping three riggers in to take the point is huge in this format. Don't underestimate the raw power of guns and movement as they just win games here.
  7. One thing to note there is that that list isn't legal: you're only allowed two units of the same warscroll, so one unit of endrinriggers will have to be replaced with skywardens or something else.
  8. I just want to chime in again here and say that we loved these rules when we ran through our PtG campaign. COVID put the dampeners on it and it has been so long that we're starting a different campaign now, but when we inevitably run another PtG, our experiences were so positive that we'll definitely be using these rules again!
  9. In a Kharadron Overlords army using the Barak-Thryng skyport, which units can I select for my Chronicle of Grudges in a Meeting Engagements battle? Am I restricted to picking from only the units that will appear on the battlefield in the first turn, or can I pick from the entire enemy army?
  10. I emailed them at that address asking why they hadn't updated Azyr with the GHB points. It took three weeks for a reply, but I eventually got one and they told me everyone was working on the 40k app. I'm organising a meeting engagements night for my gaming club and went to build some lists for the first time in ages. I discovered all my old lists had been deleted and you can't assign a general in their ME builder. So, after over a year of faithful support, I finally cancelled my subscription. Shame.
  11. Salamanders +30 Oldblood on Carny -20 Skink Chief Stegadon -20 Oracle on Troglodon -40 https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/i7eUTesWE3W9jq39.pdf
  12. As an update here, it's no longer available online in Europe. RIP little buddy. I wonder if it'll be back in another packaging or just be gone.
  13. The weekly preview video talks about the allegiance that lets you run stegadons as battleline.
  14. KO just won Age of Leapmar: https://tabletop.to/age-of-leapmar
  15. There might be a case for including him in a Lofnir list. For only 20 points extra over a regular Runefather, he has a built in Battle-throne and an extra melee attack (plus range on the droth). I would need to invest in more Start Collecting's to see if that's worth it beyond the theorycrafting.
  16. Yeah, my brain got muddled for a second there. Broadaxes are for those guys, polearms are for the rend ignoring stupid ass Ishlaen guard.
  17. It's rare to see a top table Fyreslayers list that isn't 20 x Broadaxes, 20 x Polearms. In a TAC tournament list, having a way to bypass saves is important lest you get screwed by Archaon or Overpowering Stench.
  18. We just had the big Chaos Soul Wars book. We'll get Order, Death, and Destruction allegiance updates in the course of time. This is the AoS Psychic Awakening - new rules coming via campaign books.
  19. We'll just get new rules in the big Order Soul Wars campaign book.
  20. Hermdar Runemaster general, salamander cloak, warrior indominate, ember storm Runesmiter, prayer of ash Runefather, tyrant slayer Bsmith, nulsidian 3 x 5 auric hearthguard 2 x 20 hearthguard berserkers Runic firewall LotL, Forge Brethren 1980pts
  21. I would argue that Trachos is the really MVP of those stories. I think his relationship with Gotrek is the best thing about the series - they both feel incredible guilt and are both losing parts of themselves. They're bonded by memories - they both want to keep them as they come from former lives that defined them, but are losing more of themselves every day. The characters reveal more about each other through their interactions. That's good, efficient storytelling and character building. I'm not really sure the writers know what to do with Maleneth; there's probably a really well rounded character in there somewhere, but so far all the writers have been plowing the same furrow. We now have them at a state where Gotrek and Maleneth have a grudging respect for each other, but I don't think much more is going on than that. We don't learn anything special about her through her interactions with the other characters. But hey, Ghoulslayer was one of the best AoS books released so far, so I don't mind if they take a little longer to make Maleneth more well rounded than "Killy Aelf who talks to herself". And if they bring back Felix? Well Ghoulslayer was a lot about grief, and Felix played a large part in that. I think it was handled well, so I don't mind it being something that persists. I think Gotrek works as a good vehicle to drive stories of loss and grief in AoS. He's one of the few elements of the setting that benefits from the 30 years of lore we gave up.
  22. Still very much in stock in Europe: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-IE/Balewind-vortex-2016
  23. The most conservative estimates are 'sub-allegiances for each type', so Skink focused, Saurus focused, Monster focused, Slann focused etc. Basically, the existing battalions in allegiance form. That's the most low effort way they could do things, but I'd be shocked if we didn't get that as a baseline. I would expect a change to the way summoning works - having your new book rely on a Finecast centerpiece is not a good look these days. But no-one knows anything for sure. Thankfully, the wait won't be long now.
