  1. I don't like how much impact a single roll has and I don't like standing around for a really long time while my opponent plays the game and I watch. I have come around to appreciating the tactical impact, but I definitely think it should be more complicated than just a single dice roll. Let a player spend a command point to reroll their priority dice, maybe. Or give a +1 to the priority roll to the player who has less victory points. I don't think it's something armies should be able to build towards having bonuses in, but I think you should be able to do things during your turns that increase or decrease the chance of a double turn occurring. I would also love it if there was more to do for the player who isn't taking their turn. The predatory spell mechanic is an example of this and I love it. There aren't many reasons to turn down acting first on a priority roll past the first turn. But if there's a nasty endless spell ready to wreck your army, it might affect your decision. More like this would be great.
  2. Yes. The wheel affects "NURGLE" units. It doesn't specify friendly or enemy. All that matters is that the unit has the Nurgle keyword. Likewise, the GUO's bell affects your units. And you are immune to the damage aura of Blight Kings. And you get healed by the GUO spell, instead of damaged. And like a dozen other things.
  3. The Lord of Afflictions also grants RR1's to hit. He has a great damage profile and works well with a unit of Pusgoyles because his command ability can really rocket them across the board to get to a juicy target. If you are willing to spend 400 points on flies, 1 of him and 2 pusgoyles seems like a better investment in my mind than 4 Pusgoyles. I do wish Plague Cyst was stronger. If you do decide to take a Lord of Plagues in your list, consider giving him the Ghyrstrike artefact. It makes him so badass. 2+ to hit and wound, rerolling 1s to hit and with exploding attacks on a 5 and a 6 for -1 rend and d3 damage. I would love to try him out in a meeting engagement.
  4. Why not just take blight cyst and add a Lord of Plagues to the list? You can have both that way.
  5. I'd love to see Nurgle Rotbringers get a set of cards. Blightkings, Lord of Plagues and Lord of Blights would make for an excellent Warband. I see them being slow, extremely tough but not hitting terribly hard without being able to use abilities. Expansions wise, I think we could see an expansion focused on mounted units. one focused on adding magic, one expanding the terrain rules with hazards. Excited for the possibilities of expansions, but I wonder how they would handle making the cards for new models added to existing factions like Stormcast and Ironjaws available...
  6. Play a different alliance and ally them in. There is literally no way to get +1 to hit as Nurgle alliegence.
  7. Was hoping for a +1 to hit from one of the warcry warband scrolls. Instead theres another source of -1 hit for only 70 points
  8. I've got my colour scheme all planned. Does anyone know if the Iron Golems will have their own box at launch or will they be starter set exclusive for a little while? I want to get a second box so I can build all the options but I'm not willing to get a second starter set.
  9. I've never played a nurgle mirror match but it sounds thoroughly exhausting.
  10. I feel the same way with Thricefold too. A ton of your damage in that list will come from spells which are so easy to shut down for a wide variety of factions. I think Nurgle's biggest weakness has to be how easy we are to counter. Really, other than that our battletome is pretty cool with lots of neat synergies and options.
  11. Man it would be so cool is the warbands all ended up being brand new units for the Darkoath battletome. It won't happen, but that would be the most epic faction revamp ever.
  12. Out of interest, what factions commonly bestow the -1 hit debuffs that mess blight kings up so much? My experience is limited because I tend to play with the same handful of players a lot but I have a tournament coming up and It'd be good to know what my worst matchups are going to be.
  13. Hey, go attach yourself via means of a spiral thread rotating within a similarly threaded slot, buddy! Ikea tables are pretty good, although they're heavy and not being able to fold down means they can be difficult to transport. Not bad for the home though, since you can hide it behind other furniture or in a cupboard pretty easily. Nice and sturdy.
  14. 2 takeaways from those rulebook photos: 1: I love the rules. The initiative/abilities mechanic looks like great fun. It looks like a nice balance between complexity of the rules and speed of play. A lot of the worries I had have been assuaged. It really just makes me excited to get the starter set and play a few games. 2: I was holding out hope that it would be like Kill Team, where there would be rules for lots of factions but accessories available only for a lucky few. But it seems like all the rules for a faction are actually on those cards, not in the rulebook? If so, there are a lot of factions being left out at launch but there's potential for that roster to be expanded pretty quickly since it just requires a small set of cards. So hopefully there will be a second wave of warband cards in the near future. Doesn't seem to much reason not to keep those cards coming out at pace. Overall I'm very hyped. Day 1 preorder for me.
  15. I saw a picture of the warcry box posted by Ben Johnson, the contents list said it contained a double sided, 22" x 30" folding game board.
  16. When a number of abilities trigger at the start of the hero phase, the player whose turn it is can choose in which order they resolve. So yes, in this case it was legal to trigger the effect of cycle 7, use grandfather's blessing to move the wheel and then trigger the effect of cycle 6. It's a very common trick amongst nurgle players.
  17. Compared to other comparable products, it seems to be good value. There's nothing wrong with not having enough disposable income to afford something, even if it is good value. I'm in a privileged position in my life right now to be able to afford it. A few years ago I would never have dreamed of getting something like this. It's a luxury item. I don't think anyone was judging or looking down on people who can't afford a starter set, but it's equally as silly to complain about the price just because it doesn't meet your circumstances right now. Seems to me like a case of people reading negative intentions into comments where it wasn't intended. Internet be like that sometimes. A lot of people feel on guard all the time.
  18. What's your list like? Your friend's list is not a very balanced. It seems to me he's just playing casually with what models he likes/owns which is fine obviously but if you're coming at him with a tournament level list when he's just playing what he has lying around for fun I'm not surprised he's having a bad time.

  20. I wonder if they would do that if it weren't for the whole "only half the models in a unit can have a Dolorous Tocsin" thing. After making a LoA and buying a second box you'd be 1 tocsin down from optimal build, so you'd need to source a spare bell from another kit (probably a Gnarlmaw) and do a small conversion. Not really a big deal, but I get the impression that GW wouldn't like that and people would definitely complain. Not that they don't complain atm having a spare Pusgoyle left over after building the hero. I certainly do
  21. Everything you've said is true, but I don't think of Marauders and PGBL's as being interchangeable because they fill very different roles in the army. Marauders bash into things as a big lump. Flying Cavalry are more precise. The buffs to marauder damage might be better, but they're not going to be able to get to the best targets most of the time. A marauder is never going to get close enough to attack a Slann for example. They're really only interchangeable with Plague Drones who as I said in my post, definitely do more damage when buffed. But you can't always spare the command point, get a daemon hero in range and get blades off to make the most of them. It's a big investment. You're right though, a unit of Plague Drones, buffed by the GUO, with something like a Lord of Afflictions in tow to trigger their locus and with blades cast on them is definitely pretty scary. Without all that, they are surprisingly fragile and in my experience whiff the vast majority of their attacks with all their 4+ and no rend. Plus they're almost as bad at claiming objectives as PGBLs since they only have one extra model per unit. One benefit of PGBLs is that with the LoA they can cover some truly immense stretches of ground to deepstrike a juicy target that the enemy assumes is safe. But, Gutrot and a unit of blightkings might be as good or better for that and cost less points... But a Gutrot can be played around with positioning since they know it's coming! I dunno, I think there is a place for them, particularly in a casual game. If you've got a harbinger in your army, I'd consider them. If you don't, I wouldn't.
  22. I like the Iron Golems. The variety in body types is great. Plus there is a dwarf wearing beard armour! How cool is that! Pretty happy that they are one of the warbands in the starter set. At first I didn't like the Untamed Beasts but they've grown on me as I look at the models more. I think I'll paint mine with some blue and white, Braveheart style, Gaelic warpaint. Yeah me too! Some of the helms are very reminiscent of Blightking heads. Could make some great blightking conversions with the kit, perhaps. Plus all that metal would look great with veregris and/or rust effects. Too bad all their intestines are on the inside instead of hanging limply past their groin where they should be.
  23. Being able to reuse models means that if you already collect the models for another game, it costs you way less to get started with this other, smaller scale game. If you had to use entirely new models, the cost to play would be substantially higher. I kinda see your point that in the sense that it means more people will buy the book and try it out since they already have most of what they need to play, so they're likely to make more money from sales. But still, I wouldn't call that approach a cash grab. The real cash grab are things like Nurgle's Thricefold Befoulment battalion which is widely considered to be the most effective way to build a nurgle list and juuuuuust so happens to require 3 copies of the most expensive model in their range. What a funny coincidence!
  24. Pusgoyles being the same cost as Plague Drones makes them a lot more appealing IMO. They have better armour save and can benefit from the Harbinger of Decay command ability that gives them the standard nurgle 5+ ward save. That makes them pretty tanky for a cavalry unit. The Drones do more damage when fully buffed but the Pusgoyle's attacks are often better when you can't get your buffs aligned because there is more access to rend and exploding attacks. They have a smaller footprint than drones which can be a blessing if you intend to fly over other units or terrain in order to attack something vulnerable. I'd say PGBL and Drones are roughly equivalent now in terms of cost vs reward. You should get a Gnarlmaw, full stop. It costs you no matched play points and you get one at the beginning of every game for free. The buffs you get from it are very useful. There's no reason not to have one. A Start collecting daemons box is a good investment, because everything in the box can be summoned. Another box of 10 plaguebearers so that you can summon a unit of 20, and your most common summoning options are pretty much filled. I'd say it's a good place to start and then you can build up from that to a Daemons list or start putting together a Mortals List with your summoning sorted. If you want a small elite force with low model counts, Mortals are the way to go. Otherwise you will be looking at a couple units of 30x Plaguebearers as your battleline.
