  1. Against OBR I'm thinking this: LCoSD (stormwinged) Drakesworn Templar Knight-Incantor Liberators 3x5 9x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows Everblaze Comet 1970/2000 Trying to maximize MW output on turn 1. Deepstrike the longstrikes behind to hit heros. Setup the incantor between the 2 drakes for maximum casting ability. Then hopefully get them in range to combined give -3 to casting (each drake and everblaze) Or would it just be better to run Ordinator and 3 ballista to deepstrike and go for heros? Both options have rend 2, but the longstrikes can deal a good amount of mortal wounds, whereas ballistas just overwhelm with hits. (Ballista option also leaves points for a balewind vortex and up to 30 points of endless spells)
  2. What about dropping Spellweaver for the Everblaze Comet? More MW output turn 1 and messes with their caster further on top of the Stardrake.
  3. I'm perfectly fine with each army having super strong powers and abilities. Its way better than everyone being mediocre together and one book (or 2-3) coming out to dominate the rest.
  4. I hope rules guy 2 writes all the battletomes from now on.
  5. My big hope is if they do a 3rd edition of aos they work on a lot of the books first, then release a large portion at one time. Don't make some "3.0 ready" when they clearly aren't. Like how Nighthaunt and Stormcast are 2.0 tomes but pale in comparison to even the less powerful ones that came later.
  6. Next box set is obviously Stormcast vs Stormcast then. I kid, I could see Seraphon vs Nurgle though. They both really need updated books. (Even though I secretly hope its Stormcast vs Legion of Grief and the LoG book rolls all the Nighthaunt stuff into it so its a real thought out faction)
  7. If you aren't gonna go for max discount I would just do 3 min sized units of BR. Less likely to all get one shotted considering they can spread out. Considering RotSH is a d3, I run a lot more min sized units. Getting 1 back hurts. I actually beat a Bonereaper army today at 1k points. Got massacred turn 1 and most of 2. My 10 man GGR's got wiped turn 1, and my 6 unit of spirit hosts got destroyed by a 10 man mortek and a harvester. Could not make any saves the first 2 turns, like at all. But then pulled it out. Mourngul is still my hero and I hope he drops in points more.
  8. Just combine the two warscrolls archai/harbingers, and drop em to 200. Boom worth it. 9" fly, 5+ mortal shrug, and 3d6 charge.
  9. I don't think it'll get updated until the big faq in June. IIRC that's when it dropped last time. It seems to have been rolled into the gw model updates. I can easily see it settle at 240 but considering they're doing everything in 10's and 20's it'll probably be 260 in June.
  10. To cater to the largest group of people. It makes sense business wise. I play mostly Death. My friend plays mostly Destruction. If they wanna sell plastic they need to throw the largest net possible.
  11. Been saying this more and more as everything gets consolidated. Order has 8 armies, Chaos 7, Death 3 and a half (since most of the stuff falls in Legions but is really 3 separate armies), and Destruction 3. I assume Pointy Aelves are Order. So really this whole year should add 2 Death and 2 Destruction armies to even come close to some kind of parity. Its kind of close to Ironjawz, but I want to see a big smashy destruction army. Like with dragons, and giants, and such.
  12. Thanks for all the replies. I will be trying out my first stardrake soon. May or may not get a drakesworn afterwards.
  13. @Turragor since you seem to play it the most you probably got the answer. When you use Lord Castellants ability on the Stardrake do you heal the wounds after they've been deal in that combat or can you only heal wounds it already had and THEN apply the damage for that combat?
  14. Considering what they did to Skaven I wouldn't expect more than 1 model and the book. Maybe endless spells and terrain. But all the old armies seem to be stuck in finecast/metal and GW isn't gonna update them.
  15. It's legitimately what I expect from all battletomes heading forwards. Imagine Desolators or Concussors as battleline EDIT: Considering FEC and Ogors IMAGINE DRAKESWORN TEMPLARS AS BATTLELINE!!!!
  16. Knock all the paladins down a bit and let them be battleline in different stormhosts and you got yourself a bunch of great units. Who wouldn't take Retributors as battleline under 200 points?
  17. Yes this is correct. Been doing it with Hexwraiths for a long time. You only have to move 1 millimeter over a base and can 100% fly over units.
  18. Average kit age takes into account Morghast, Nagash, and Arkhan. Those are much older.
  19. While this seems like a big nerf, one of the arcanite artefacts is gonna generate so many destiny dice. "Secret Keeper" I believe it's called. Pick a melee weapon, whenever you roll an unmodified 6 to hit, roll a dice and add it to your destiny pool.
  20. This was a known problem since day 1. Don't worry so much, after the Seraphon update I foresee NH and the other books that lagged behind to get updated. We have no "household" variant like all the other books (SC, DOK, IDK, etc). And with the new KO book making each city getting different units allowed as battleline opens up a lot of options. Imagine a NH army with Bladegheist Revenants as battleline
  21. They are not considered competitive for the points they cost. But they are awesome models to see all painted up. Competitive would start with a Lord Relictor for teleporting purposes, and a max unit of Vanguard Raptors with Longstrikes.
  22. I think keeping Shock and Awe as it is would be the better road. Then give SCE a few more way to setup units. They should have a spell that teleports, since everyone else seems to have one now. I love the mount trait for Stardrakes that makes it always be 0 for the table. Maybe they should also be able to redeploy at will. I mean 500 is a lot of points for what it currently does. Giving it the every turn Shock and Awe is fitting and competitive.
  23. I sure wish Nighthaunt had access to spells like the Parchment Curse. Cast on 8, on a 3+ a unit takes d3 mortals and you lower its bravery by that much FOR THE REST OF THE BATTLE! Why does Tzeentch have this but not the army of frights???? Our book just came out at the wrong time. Going over the Stormcast book, they have the same problem. We are the backlash to the endless conga lining of units. So all our stuff is "wholly within" and they weren't really sure of the distances yet. Katakros and the newer wholly within stuff is way more lenient but still curbs conga lines a bit.
  24. I could legit see them getting and update this year. Right after Seraphon, IDK, DoK, and Nurgle. Alongside another Stormcast book. Time to really put everyone into a 2.0 book.
  25. It says Kairic Acolytes are wizards as long as they have 9 or more models. And they can all cast Gestalt Sorcery on themselves. This kinda juice is gonna be big. I assume they go up to 120 or 140 points.
