  1. To be a little fair though outside of giant blocks vs giant blocks, how many of those 40 marauders are going to be in combat range of whatever they're fighting? This is also why 10 man units of blightkings usually don't see play. Kind of hard to make sure everyone is in range (especially with their big ol bases). Not saying 40 man blocks is excessive, its the best way to run marauders! But they dont have 2" spears.
  2. BTW I admit I'm not too much on top of SCE lore as many of you but I'm wondering if SCE "Initiates/Space Marine Scouts" are a thing? While I guess technically SCE are the equivalent of angels/Valkyries/reborn holy warriors, seems a little weird to hand them huge heavy plate armor and big huge weapons without some "proving" training (obviously I know they train before they get into war, but they immediately go from 0 to 60). Do you think "cheap" SCE units may be a thing as a "more bodies but less power" battleline filler? Granted Space Marine Scouts, the inspiration I'm taking, are still pretty darn elite especially handy with some sniper rifles.
  3. Legions of Nagash is the battletome book, which contains the Legions. Technically there is no Legion of Nagash allegiance but all the legions share the same units (with a few battleline IF options). The update to LoN came from the 2.0 update Errata/FAQ. https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/age_of_sigmar_legions_of_nagash_errata_en-1.pdf
  4. Reapers are a normal, non battleline, unit in Legions of Nagash.
  5. I think thats the biggest issue. 200pts and an army wide buff just screams "Kill me!" and even 7 wounds+DR still isn't that hard to chew through. Hes kind of like a 200pt battalion that doesn't give you an artifact or cp, and can get blasted off the board. And for a few other units, they can already find ways of rerolling to hits or to wounds like a lord of plagues.
  6. Yea thats most likely it, but weirdly interesting that they specifically single out bonesplittas. I mean don't Beastclaw Raiders also deal with dragons sometimes? Then again they also mentioned the thunderscorn and maybe they're hinting beastmen update!!! ? (I'm just so starved for any solid aos rumors other than malign portents!)
  7. I think they rarely print physical copies of foreign languages? I seem to even recall years ago (4th or 5th edition 40k) they actually had the rules for 40k for free pdf download in Japanese
  8. Is GW hinting that Bonesplittas or some other destruction faction may be getting dragons/drakes? In this new article about dragon lore, they specifically point out bonesplittas with an accompanying art picture (granted it was talking about how they hunt dragons rather than tame/ride them). https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/08/09/9th-aug-lore-dragons-and-drakes-of-the-mortal-realmsgw-homepage-post-1/
  9. Maybe they were working on an actual model for Kholek Suneater? I think he was the only chaos warrior special character that never got a model (even Scyla got updated)! Not even for the End Times when they were releasing chaos models left and right!
  10. Malign Sorcery, its an artifact of aqshy. Theres also Hydroxskin cloak that doesn't have a movement buff but can inflict mortal wounds you fly over.
  11. He drinks milk! But yea GW has been moving towards a far larger 32mm scale for even normal humans. Helps offset the comically large weapons people use (theres a picture I once saw of a 40k guardsmen right next to a RL soldier and the proportions look wacky) and allows for more details to get packed in.
  12. Well free summoning doesn't help too much if the units in question are still on the "meh-ok" side.
  13. Yea Fantasy in general has always gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to conversion packs. Ah heck basically ALL factions outside of Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines get basically nothing, not even from FW (with small exceptions like eldar corsairs). For crying out loud they never made any Chaos God specific conversion packs for friggin Chaos Warriors! And they've been around for more than a decade! (seriously, a head swap and a weapon swap was all they needed!)
  14. "Hey what has 4 wheels and flies? A garbage truck!"? But man imaging a flying GUO thats on fire is hilariously amazing!
  15. Speaking of the Black Coach, while the model is one of the best chariots I have seen for the game, for those who are concerned about money do you think it may be acceptable to buy Start Collecting Malignants, get some plasticard, and make a kitbashed one?
  16. On the topic of the dislike on the Hammers of Sigmar, I think I sort of understand GWs position (that doesn't mean I like it). I think essentially they're still trying to establish the mini factions of AoS which is still pretty young for warhammer. So they're setting up Hammers as the Ultramarines, the poster boys who can be quickly associated with the game (especially to new players). So they want to flesh them out quickly, and you can easily do that by dumping a ton of special characters. Then once thats all done, probably they'll go and do the other stormhosts (who knows how long though that'll take, unless they start doing supplements). Plus outside of people who actually play stormcast, how many people can recall exactly what each Stormhost does, their colors, and what makes them different from their peers? Compare that to 40k Space Marines where non space marine players can easily identify Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Grey Knights, etc even if they have never picked up the space marine books. 40k (and fantasy of course) has had over 20 years to get people emotionally and mechanically connected to space marine chapters, chaos groups, IG regiments, craftworlds, etc. AoS has....2 years so far. Heck people in AoS hate the "technically should be painted as stormhost X" suggestion, but in 40k if you try to pass off your Blood Angel army as a White Scars army, I'm pretty sure people there are going to question you!
  17. Well I wouldn't say cannons are irrelevant but since stormcast have some more interesting deploying mechanics, it makes sense to use ballistas and pop them where you want them to be rather than set up a normal cannon and pray to sigmar you have a clear firing line. Plus the updated rules for artillery makes them much tougher, which sadly only applies to the ballista (old artillery still use the janky crew rules).
  18. I think if you're doing a full stormcast army, the ballista should be all the artillery you'll need. Also I'm guessing you want to do a Vanguard army to have Vanguard Hunter battleline?
  19. Makes me really excited to see how they'll update the Keeper of Secrets. ... As long as the conspiracy they're actually trying to completely remove slaanesh isn't true!
  20. By the way what are people's experiences with Thunderscorn? Basic Dragon Ogors seem pretty decent hammers and Shaggoths are pretty beefy for a non-behemoth hero. Too bad though the thunder spell they give to wizards can't be used offensively. Also it would be kind of nice if they still had their "electricity immunity" but then I guess it would hard to determine which attacks from Stormcast are "electric" (it literally be the vast majority!). Or maybe they could have their electricity resistance be a 5+ or so after save against wounds/mortal wounds caused by "electric" attacks. Man its so weird that warhammer/40k have "elemental" attacks but also not really (I'm looking at you 40k "flame" attacks!)
  21. Except Horus Heresy. Because...space marines! (and the apocalypse stuff, but that was a decade ago) But man I miss the days when FW was suppose to be the "test bed" for warhammer.
  22. And who knows when that'll happen! For the dark gods sake, I think theres still no way to take Chaos Dwarf allies!
  23. On a whole many wizards got some price bumps which puts them in a bit of a rut. Even Tzeentch, king of wizards, has people complaining about the usefulness of the LoC outside of fate point spam (he costs more than 2 gaunt summoners, who can also use balewinds). The college wizards also got some price bump which puts them a little too close to SC wizards. While some of their spells are nice, it might be more useful to spend the extra 20pts for SC stats.
  24. By the way I mentioned it in my post, but heres what the Legion of Nagash FAQ says for their Battalion situation. Chainguard, Execuation Horde, and Death Stalkers all use units that are 100% LoN Units, so theres no debate on "well one part of the battalion is NH Ally only". Now granted we already mentioned the oddity that Nurgle cannot ally Pestilens, so I have no idea if that overrides the FAQ intention of "cross faction" battalions. I think thats the biggest weirdness about Pestilens battalions, as opposed to Everchosen.
  25. The mini faction or the toad man himself? I don't have him since...he'll burn a hole in my wallet!
