Arkiham
As according to the faq in the app and the one on the community website. V1.1 the Balewind is still free. Is there a v1.2 I've missed ? So, when do we ignore a faq, as the faq is meant to be the rules we follow over the rulebook it self.
sal4m4nd3r
Balewind vortex is 100 points in matched play.
Arkiham
I know, but the faq says it's free , we normally follow the faq over the rule book, which they advise us to do in the faq. So, we should technically still be following the faq. And it should technically not cost points.
BaldoBeardo
FAQ answer is in response to scenery warscrolls that do not have points values. The balewind *does* have a points value, so is not covered by the FAQ.
swarmofseals
The points for the balewind vortex are not from the rulebook. They are from the following pdf, which is in the rules errata part of the site: Link The portion of the FAQ specifically states "as these scenery warscrolls do not have points." The balewind vortex warscroll was updated with a points value in the errata linked above, therefore this section of the faq does not apply to that specific warscroll. Other scenery that does not have a points cost would still be free to summon.

Arkiham
The only 2 bits you can summon have points, so it directly refers to them. And that link is the same as the points for everything else, it's not an faq/errata. What I'm saying is. The rule is outdated, but still in the most recent faq. The faq is what we follow, it says in the faq to use the rules updated in the faq over the book. So, at what point do we not use the faq. And what precedent does that set ? Where we pick an choose what to use from the faq.
Bueno
Dude, it costs 100pts, you know it costs 100pts, why the thread, seriously?

Where we pick an choose what to use from the faq. The link is considered rules errata. It's in the rules errata section of the GW website. The rule in the FAQ is not outdated -- it may be true that the only two pieces of scenery that can be summoned now have points, but that doesn't mean that there won't be summonable terrain in the future that does not have a points value. If you just interpret the rules directly it's quite clear. The FAQ says that summonable terrain that does not have a points cost is considered free. We continue to follow that rule. Because the balewind vortex now has a points cost, this FAQ entry does not apply to it. If there are no summonable terrain pieces without points costs currently in the game, then this FAQ entry doesn't actually have any significance at the moment, but that doesn't mean it might not in the future. Just because it isn't meaningful now doesn't mean we should go and ignore other published material just to ensure that the FAQ entry has something to refer to. Kaleb Daark
so where does this leave other terrain which is not sumonable but is still available? One guy in our group (death) caused much upset with a magewrath throne dumped in a garden of Morr which he bought along thinking he was being clever. Obviously he wasn't that clever when all me Legion of Azgorh deathshrieker rockets and hellcannon shots hit home, but as they say... That'll learn 'im. mmimzie
@arkiham the faq seem quite clear its for scenery warwarscroll without points. As of now balewind had point and thus the FAQ question no longer apllies to those two warscroll.
TerrorPenguin
It is a fair point though We now have four pages of rules and an faq Generals handbook and an FAQ A random page only discoverable on the internet which is named for silver tower, but also includes balewind vortex and sylvaneth wild woods points values. That page should really be in the generals handbook FAQ Its here by the way: https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/AoS_Errata/ENG_Silver_Tower_PB.pdf
