That's awesome! You certainly have talent!

If you have an iPad and iPen. You should get Nomad. I think it's also for Android. It cost below 20 euro and you can sculpt it digitally. It's a very good program. It's not of the same level of zbrush, but that one is very expensive.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I don't own an iPad :/ - I tried ZBrush but I find the overall UX so ****** confusing outside of the actual modeling. I know my way around 3dsmax a bit, that's what we used back then in video game models (unfortunately I was a skinner/texture artist, not a modeler, so my 3d modeling sucks) but I think I'll just go with Blender as I want to do armored stuff anyways. I heard Plasticity is also good.

I am your dark mirror. Mr. mesh and tech art/shaders reporting in for 3dsmax to blender converts camp 🤜🤛

So are we betting on the starter boxes post launch having additional terrain bits that match the launch box ones?

Yeah. That kind of boxes (specially the more expensive one) tends to have more (and new!) terrain.

Oh, I should clarify, I am a long time gamedev professionally 😉. C/C++/C#/lua/rb/lisp (the dark arts)/etc. and lots of HLSL shader work as well as LL stuff, and lots and lots of meshes. 2D and tex are just something I don't do often because I don't enjoy them - but I am practiced. I also do a decent amount of engineering 3D that crosses over with it. I'm also from the console reverse engineering scene for fun 😅. But for my dev and 3D you won't find me by this name.
I appreciate the offer though. 😀 Seems there are a few of our ilk skulking around here lol.

Btw, I dunno if youve talked about this, but the new warscrolls have a date on the top: july 2024.

Yeah, definitely a June ender. I'm pretty pumped to dig into this edition. Especially with 40K being as lackluster as it is currently.

If the speculation regarding the Chaos Mono-God factions is true (Updated Daemon kits) I think I would prefer an additional Daemon kit for each of the big 4, instead of a direct update/replacement. I think the current Daemon kits hold up pretty well and would like to see a bit more diversity in the ranges.

Yeah i agree with @Gaz Taylor

from what i got from 4chan (so take a massive pinch of salt) it going to be updating most of the Chaos characters i.e Epidemius, Blue scribe  along with some basic demons like Bloodletters and nurgling that sort of things

That's a mixed bag for me tbh

Some resin models could be updated to plastic, but a lot of the basic daemons still hold up! After seeing the Exalted Seekers for the Hedonites, I think Slaanesh *could* do with a second pass: you have a chariot that can be three slightly different chariots and a lot of models that have aged less gracefully than a lot of the other god's

With Emperor's Children slated to get a reboot, I wouldn't be opposed to Slaanesh finally, for the first time in the history of me playing this game, being the god that gets the most new kits for a couple years! Drop a reboot range for the demons with EC and an expansion for a Hedonites release (that gets added to 40k)

The other gods could really just use more, imo. Unless they're going to substantially change the current "squigs with arms" vibe of the tzeentch basic daemons, I'd rather the monogod stuff just get new stuff!

Over the years, Khorne in particular has mined the specialist games for units like the Blood Slaughterer; I'd love to see new takes on old stuff and brand-new things!

Also Storm of Magic! Lots of demonic stuff in there

A Juggernaut chariot, for example. Just *more* stuff in general

It‘s a natural progression for our type of nerd I think - 3d stuff came after minis for me. But it was mostly a hobby for me, outside of a few freelance jobs. I did get an offer by blizzard tho but due to my awesome dog (miss him every single day) and family relocating to the US was out of the question (plus I was just 18, a bit too young)! But seeing how tough the field was and especially now is, plus less and less need for texture artists anyways in bigger projects, I think it was smart to do something different for me. I ultimately went into graphic design and that was definitely not smart though, that’s just as thankless as video games. 😂 Should‘ve gone for plastic surgery! Or just become an heir, I feel like I‘d have the qualifications for that!

Anyways, I might hit up Jack regarding Blender tutorials if I find the time to truly learn modeling! 👍 I definitely need to start with the basics though.

And I feel like my fun stuff for Dawn of War got me some Tzeentch nerd cred. If I compare them to the official models by Relic, looking back, we did a decent job!

Personally if this rumor holds up (and that’s a very big “if”) I’d hope that this would lead to the transferring of resin kits/units mentioned in older material but never on the tabletop to be made playable. Nurgle should have plague toads and rot knights charging alongside pusgoyle blightlords, bring Valkia swooping down into the fray alongside some Gorefathers, hell throw myself and @MitGas a bone and give Tzneetch Doom Knights! Come on GW, you’ve proven that you still care about these units since you let CA bring them to total war, just make the plastic crack already.

Maybe that's the problem. As they are part of TWW we won't see them in AoS but in TOW at some point.

After Garrac‘s posts (DOOOOOM, DOOOONG (add more Os for flavor)), I don‘t think just Doom knights cut it anymore… I want Dong knights too! I know, they‘ll be Slaaneshi but that‘s okay!

If we get them in TOW I’ll still buy the kits and put them on display.

Or run them as Enlightened! Skyfires = birbbois and Enlightened = armorbois wouldn‘t be bad either!

I do love Enlightened tho.

Easy fix: Doom Knights=enlightened on disc, then run the spear-bird bois on foot.

I ran out of reactions today, looks like I liked too many posts. But rest assured, you‘d get a nice big heart for this solution!

I know it is a 40k preview, but as demons share kits and there's rumours about renewal of demons from 40k, what are the chances of us seeing some demons today? Is here something from the 40k rumours about it?

It feels like majority were excited for this launch box, but from my conversations with people in my AOS community and following along on TGA and other social platforms it feels like a lot of people are passing on the starter.

I think we all agree that Skaven needed a refresh and all the models look amazing, but it seems like most are happy for Skaven players but it’s not their thing per say. I’m wondering if Skaven was proper choice for starter.

Most people who love Skaven already have bought into Skaven. Probably spent thousands of dollars over the years to collect everything. Painted 60+ clanrats, 40+ stormvermin and countless ends of troops. While the new stuff looks fantastic, it’s not really new. Are the clan rats such a massive upgrade that someone would easily replace the 60 they had previous. Same logic could carry into the stormcast side was well.

Nighthaunt and Kruleboyz were completely new ideas with original sculpts meaning no one had an equity in the army previously and since it was new people would buy them before they had time to decide if they really liked them or not. Most AOS players have already decided on Skaven already.

For a new player is Skaven enticing? Having to paint 40 models of a unit off the bat could feel daunting.

Again, none of this is fact, just my observation over the response to the box. I’m curious to what those who want and do not want the box feel.
