  1. You just pick a single model to get the Prized Creations buff. Its very surprising they decided the new mutations would affect the whole unit!
  2. For those of you who have already begun your quests into Ulfenkarn - are there any Adversaries that its not possible, or rather unlikely, that you will meet in the first 4 or so missions? I'm trying to prioritise painting it, and if some enemies (such as Radukar) only appear later on I don't need to rush to get them done. And are there any you're almost guaranteed to fight? My presumption there is the Zombies, Ulfenwatch, Rats and Bats. Cheers

    Wolf Rats Tactics

I play quite often (in the before times...) with 2 units of 5 in my Moulder army. I find its their speed which is their greatest asset, using it to grab some extra objectives turn 1, and nab some undefended ones later in the game too. For this reason I tend not to get them into combat too much, and they often work outside of Master Moulder bubbles. But because they get +1 to hit when they charge they can still be a threat to wizards and missile infantry that get left undefended on the back line. If you occasionally find them within the Master Moulder's whipping range, then even better!
  4. The highlight placement on each of their muscles looks absolutely spot on!
  5. Couple more Rat Ogor WIPs. This time the first one has just had some rawness added to his skin, and bruising inside the gun area. I need to come back and finish bits like the tail and fur. The the second has had his skin pretty much repainted, adding lots more definition. Then the red rawness added as well. I still need to repaint the metal, cloth and fur on that one, but will likely batch a couple of them at the same time for those bits.
  6. A tad more progress on my Rat Ogor, I changed up the colour of the fur (as much as I like the idea of my albino ones I think it made the model too pale overall), and added some bruising on the skin. I went a bit OTT on the gun arm, but hopefully I can pull it back a bit with some highlights. Just need to highlight the tail, clean up the face and add some details to the base and he'll be good to go. Then onto the next 11....
  7. Oh we're 100% on the same page, I just wanted to add my voice to the crowd in saying that I never really see an abundance of tournament style lists or armies - and I think this side of the hobby is most common, but is the least expressed online. My understanding of 'meta' is its more than just the list of armies seen most regularly (which is my case is all of the armies that exist, I think the only one I haven't seen physically is Idoneth Deepkin), its also about the style of play that you see. A 'shooting meta', or a 'alpha strike' meta, for example. But to your main point, my scene is as varied as possible really, and even more than that the lists people are running are varied too. We have a few Ossiarch Players for example, and their lists are all different. Ditto with Lumineth as well, some are cavalry heavy, others leaned into the Alarith units. So diverse in armies and unit selection.
  8. I think my position will be the same as most, and is that there is no meta - people just play the armies they think are cool, and there is a ton of variety. Its not mentioned as often as the tournament meta, so I think the general assumption is that these powerful armies are everywhere, but that definitely isn't my experience.
  9. Ta very much @Meat-Flesh! I haven't done any more to him/it as of yet but I am currently in a drive to get the whole force properly sorted, ready for a potential new edition to arrive. So far I have revisited a Rat Ogor,to try and add some more definition to the skin. And remade my Bonebreaker model from a few pages ago, into an homage to the classic Ghoritch conversion from White Dwarf! Inspired in part by his appearance in TWW2 a few months ago. Hopefully the ratwheel will keep rolling and I'll have more updates soon!
  10. Hey guys, I'm looking for opinions on how 'worth it' Battalions are, specifically with my Moulder army in mind. I've got the option to drop the Fleshmeld Menagerie from my list, alongside a unit of Giant Rats, for a 3rd Hell Pit Abomination. Current list: Potential new list: So Hell Pits are a big workhouse for dealing damage in my army, not to mention drawing an awful lot of heat off of my Rat Ogors so they make it to combat! So having an extra one would be amazing. Buuuut, is it worth losing out on dropping my army in 5 drops rather than 16? Losing out on the extra Relic? Losing the extra CP (which I tend to use if one of my units gets wiped out first turn so I can try and resummon them), one of my screening/objective grabbing units, aaaand losing the ability to resummon on a 4+ rather than a 5+ (while that hero is alive any), which has definitely been the difference between getting a 200pts unit back in a game and not quite a few times. So, if you have any thoughts whether there's a clear better way to go, I'd love to hear it. Pic for the sake of it
  11. @DocKeule very much so, great for variety too! I used to have a unit with all warpfire throwers to give army a source of mortal wounds, but they eventually got replaced in the new book - I like the synergy Rat Ogors have with Master Moulders and being able to resummon them is ace too. Should probably look at adding them back just to give me some ranged threats again.
  12. I have crazy good fun with my Moulder army, my big advice for people is not running the giant rats in huge units - even with the buffs I just don't think they do enough damage and die very easily. Having lots of 10 man/rat units I find really fun, and means you can shield your heavy hitters, use them to steal objectives with impressive speed, and charge them into a unit on the opposite side to your heavy hitter unit to stop your opponent piling in effectively. Rat Ogors pack a punch that feels just about right, but not crazy powerful, whereas Hell Pit Abominations are obscene on the charge, dealing a mortal wound to all enemies within 3" on a 2+. The downside, as you say, is the models. Someone on instagram is currently sculpting fur all over the current rat ogor models, and its helping a great deal. Someone else I've seen is greenstuffing fur on Stone Troggoths which looks really cool. Mine are all converted from Stormfiends, limits you slightly on poses, but the models are lovely with all their armour and weapons stripped off.
  13. A truly herculean task - I had no idea these stories had even disappeared from their site! Time for a reread!
  14. I have soo much time for this creation @Izotzuhure! Great use of some un-captilized Age of Myth lore too.
  15. A year and a half goes by, but the fleshmelding depths of Hell Pit have not been idle... Ever since the Skaven Battletome was released I've been proxying a Thanquol on Boneripper model as my second Hell Pit Abomination. But no more! Here is the work in progress of my new HPA model. I wanted it to be drastically different to the original model as, even with the various options in the kit, you can't change its pose. Its an amazing pose, but two of them holding their hands up like they just don't care wouldn't sit well with me! Instead, i've been cutting apart a Basilisk from Forge World, and trying to make it look like a hunched, whiskered Dr Frankenstein had been at it. Let me know what you think! Also, with the new points changes I've been able to add another two Rat Ogors to the list, so I'll hopefully be converting those up soon.
  16. Insane work, especially on the Hydra
  17. I've always found 8 good sized pieces of terrain, and then small pieces of scatter (barrels and fences) to be nice and dense on a 6' board, but still provide room for monsters to land. Traditionally this allows two pieces per outer tile, and then one piece per central tile. The latest general's handbook has a really good section for placing terrain, including how many pieces they seem to expect.
  18. Incredible scheme, and really well done!
  19. Genius idea, who'd have thought you could have merged two opposing faction aesthetics so well!
  20. Very cool! If this much thought goes into the entire army its going to look incredible!
  21. Absolutely perfect take on their colour scheme, I've been struggling to get the right tone. Looking forward to seeing more.
  22. This is what my group uses, though we've switched nowhere of note to the Eightpoints now.
  23. I just don't think command traits and relics should be forced upon the player at all - it makes no sense narratively, and is limiting competitively. Stormhosts were the first time it annoyed me - not EVERY General of the Anvils of Heldenhammer are going to have a scary aura and weapon that steals your soul. They're experimenting having more than one Command Trait in 40k with the Psychic Awakening series, so it could filter through - but not until AoS has a more complex army building structure I wouldn't imagine.
  24. Dayum, Ogors were one of the few Warcry warbands I wasn't interested in doing - but this is an incredible inspiration!
