  1. Counting unit entries rather than kits is deeply misleading when one side is nearly all dual kits with minor differences too.
  2. Hmmm better than the big dragons but they really needed more head options for them. really did.
  3. Heh, i recall those Night runners being mind blowingly cool new sculpts once... Loooooong ago...
  4. I can certainly understand TTS's position, doing a huge amount of creative work with a sword of damocles hanging over you is at best, no fun. Have experienced similar in a "fan project gone legit but radically changed in the process" where we were working for a couple of months after the rights holder contacted us but before they welcomed us aboard and productivity and morale went right out the window, almost certainly being a leading cause of the project's collapse 6 months or so later.
  5. Calibre used to work alright, though not use it for GW Epubs in a long while
  6. I would also say that squabbling semantics on exactly how poor a wage he was getting (I was earning more in my last frontline customer service job and they would hire almost anyone ) is missing the major points of how they were treated and the toxic culture that enabled it. Perhaps on a more equitable wage that wouldnt be so bad but doing it all for ****** all money is certainly bad.
  7. I was hoping for something a bit less gratuitously chonky and more dynamic but tbh Red isnt too bad. The comedic jewellery blue is wearing means i cant take him seriously though Will probably conceal the giant comet brand though, that feels a bit gross somehow. Also think they missed an easy representation point by making them brothers instead of brother and sister. Like zero effort dragons get gender equality
  8. Lines up with some other stuff i heard around the time, especially the recruiting for attitude rather than skill which i bounced off first hand. I haaave also heard things have been better since then, primarily in benefits and bonuses rather than base salary, which is still pretty low though.
  9. Hmmm im not sure i really like the idea of AoS revamps being subverted to rank on smaller square bases and im pretty certain they havent done that with gravelords for example. It could work, a unit of dwarf infantry modelled in tight formation could be awesome but a lot of factions have really benefited in the switch to looser formations. Huge units similarly worked for some factions, one of my regular opponents at the time fielded 100 clanrats round a screaming bell and it always looked great but i 100 near identical savage orcs looked weird. Their current philosophy in the main AoS team is definitely leaning towards small units though, so i suspect we will see something along those lines.
  10. Cant lie, i was a lot more excited for an Epic scaled warhammer tbh. I think this game is either going to get a release that dwarfs most 40k edition shifts and be a seismic shift in the balance of GW customers, or be an utter shitshow/disappointment and explode. Fingers crossed eh? Round bases on movement trays wouldnt really work in any of the previous warhammer editions, as your base would be considerably bigger than usual and cause problems. It does remind me of all the advances in kits since they stopped having to rank them up in tight formation too, id be interested to see how that all shakes out, not sure even GW knows yet!
  11. Stormcast always look better with head swaps, because their standard helmet design is so bland. Ive dont them with Spacewolf heads, Bretonnian heads and general bare ones and its always good, though id LOVE to have some good Dwarven ones spare to use

    Skaventide 3.0

So im assuming my Old World Eshin army continues to be a pile of suck? Need to crack on rebasing them anyhow
  13. After the disappointing Stardrake i just want GW to stretch/abuse their new plastics design tech to create something insanely dynamic, spiralling up or twisting down, something like that? I was reminded recently of the excellent FW dragons they made in the Monstrous Arcanum era and obviously the various other centrepieces they have been able to create recently. The potential is there!
  14. Pretty sure Crowe is just future proofing, hes not technically a Primaris yet because the keyword on one character would be a meaningless nerf. But hes the right size so when they update the core GK plastics next edition he will fit right in. Meanwhile, one randomly tall mini isnt the end of the world. the Old World really is a pickle for GW i think dropping to smaller scale is what they will do in the end but ill keep my Dwarves on squares just in case
  15. The LGS partner i was talking to said they blew through over half their allocation on pre orders, half that again since and pretty confident theyll be done soon enough. This is someone from a store that has pretty limited space and they are happy enough Dominion wont be dead stock. Trying to work out sales from the total of token sets relies on a whooooole heap of assumptions, enough to be nigh useless though.
  16. Randomly enough was up there myself last week and very much concur
  17. "Comp" is more probably composition in context, being the practice of house ruling army lists in tournaments usually, like giving some armies points penalties of bonuses or restricting or nerfing units. I think ive seen one sent of comp for a tournament i actually agreed with over the years and i was probably wrong
  18. Heh, ive got squatted armies from back when Squats were still around, damn splitting Undead into Tomb kings and Vampires!
  19. Not sure if its come up but it looks like the free store model Vindicator is a different sculpt to the Dominion box ones, i guess it was obviously coming but proof of more starter boxes/paint sets?
  20. Tbh the whole concept has been bobbins for a while now and it seems like GW are quietly putting it to sleep this edition. Personally id rather just see a more natural set of ally choices for each army and perhaps subtly split order into two factions, one following Morathi (Possibly Malerion later), one following Sigmar in a bit of a cold war with each other. Also, defining your "Grand Alliance" purely by race is poor too, Sylvaneth could have been an interesting "destruction" faction as a natural force even if they dont get on with greenskins, but Elves. Equally i think Idoneth could have easily been a Death faction, tithing souls to daddy Nagash for aid and protection after Teclis turned on them (Though that would be quite a different story!) you could even have an "order" Orc or Ogre or even Undead (Settera style!) faction potentially down the line, to mix things up a bit.
  21. To be fair the only competition is the worst Dragon model GW has ever made, and im counting all the weird 80's ones, i recall being astounded at the time how badly the messed up the stardrake... As for Dominion, got mine yesterday thanks to ordering local
  22. Im hoping we see some more monsters for Stormcast that dodged the ugly tree on their way to the battlefield Cant lie, a giant croc would be ace
  23. The First trilogy of films gave GW the capital to do so many things that benefited all their model lines in the design and production spaces, the big step that put them considerably ahead of their rivals seemingly permanently, let alone pulling in huge numbers of kids and adults alike as a gateway game, hell when i worked in a GW store you could see the Lotr->warhammer pipeline in action directly Im not sure it had the legs they hoped for after that and support kinda drizzled out but the fanbase is downright fanatical in places and is still obviously pulling in cash and players for GW as mentioned above, and yeah, likely to resume once the TV shows get out there. I mean the only reason its still not a spike on GW revenue graphs is the absolute insanity of post 8th edition 40k sales
  24. Tbh after a brief chat with a LGS friend and general vibing i think this box has sold at the level they expected Indomnitus to sell at, IE splash release around for a little while. Of course they may not have been the goal this time given the mad sales last year but i do expect GW did not anticipate AoS outselling 40k by any means. The Future is still bright!
  25. Bit worrying given GWs usual complete over-hype marketing machine
