  1. I sort of liked the grimdark theme for these. I have not been a fan of the bright red Khorne models, despite that that is kind of their theme. At this point I keep searching for quick paint techniques to get large batches of models done in a short time, but like pointed out by many people, contrast can suffer from that though Thank you very much for the advice! I think most of this can even be achieved with a couple of glazes to lighten up areas, so shouldn't be too difficult to pull off. I still find it hard to find the right colour schemes for the bases at times. I quite like the green bases as well. Once I am done with current projects I'll go back and fix that. I'll probably do the same for the dwarf warband, since those too have a quite bland colour scheme going on.
  2. Warlord on brood horror is no longer a monster! Lost quite a bit of its original power it seems though.
  3. I see! Thank you for the advice! I guess I'm leaning towards royal court in that case :). A shame there isn't much room for endless spells. It would have been nice to bring at least one.
  4. Awesome summary! I personally am almost done building the army to start playing and run aspect of the sea and tidecaster and 1 big unit of 9 Morsarr, after all the unit costs of other stuff I run I have 280 points left to spend. Originally I was planning to get a soulscryer, royal court and some endless spells, but with the new errata that kind of got spoiled fast. Do you think endless spells are the better option in this case and just not take the soulscryer at all? Considering I'll likely have either the aspect or tidecaster alive to cast the spells.
  5. I think you really have a point there, the thing about humans is that we relate to stuff. Lots of people want something in their armies they can relate to for that matter, and I think a lot of the old fantasy setting is being destroyed needlessly to create this new, alien-like fantasy world. I would love if they toned down the "innovative" side a bit and go back to regular fantasy designs, or at the very least keep it at a 50:50 ratio. I would also love if they would go back to having fantasy themes inspired by real world cultures. Tomb Kings was great in that regard, taking both egyptian and indian themes in their designs. I would love for there to be some armies around araby culture, nippon culture, etc. I find it very unlikely that even though the old world got destroyed that none of those cultures still exist. Recently there was a kickstarter by Titan Forge called Dragon Empire, displaying high end Samurai miniatures and other japanese inspired models, the kickstarter was a huge success. I think GW is really missing a huge market by not capitalizing on that kind of stuff and I really hope they do soon
  6. Not as far I know, but converting is always an option for me personally.
  7. there are generic warscrolls for them as well, so I bet there'll be a headswap or something to build the generic version.
  8. I assumed as much, I guess it'll take quite some ballistas before the ordinator becomes worth it. A list with 6 to 8 ballista in it would be very cool in my opinion though, I'm very tempted to build one, haha.
  9. How many ballista is everyone planning to run anyways? I may not run ordinator as my general, so I was kind of wondering between 3 + ordinator or 4 without ordinator.
  10. I kind of like the lean upstraight look of the cover art stormcast. Somehow stormcast miniatures always feel slightly bulky to me, making them look out of proportion, but it may just be me. I really hope that robot human faction is a real thing that may come soon, because that would just be amazing :).
  11. 30 for 300 would make them playable :D, I hope that becomes a thing :). I really need an excuse to buy some new stormvermin to repaint a new unit
  12. Either way, they are quite overcosted for what they bring to the table. The rend is nice, but I doubt we'll be seeing a lot of stormvermin. There really needs to be something that gives us a reason to bring them, like a verminus clawpack or another battalion.
  13. I've ordered a few more boxes out of the UK, so I can sell each part a bit cheaper now :). My asking price right now is 50 euro per half.
  14. I'm selling off both SCE and Nighthaunt and can ship to the Netherlands and Belgium at the same price. (Can ship to pick-up points). I bought 4 boxes to turn a little bit of a profit and asking 62,50 euro per army/box half, 25 per core book and still have an incomplete stormcast set for 50 (misses 1 ballista, everything else present).
  15. Thank you very much for the advice! The squinting eyes thing you mentioned is quite useful, I may try that. I was considering some glowing weapons, so might go with a bit of a ghostly glow on the edges. I doubt it would take too much time to do so anyways. I did not count assembling time and priming since I had them assembled and primed in my project stash - long forgotten since the release haha. I also did not count the drying time of the aggrax earthshade, which took over 40 minutes since I drowned them in it. As I mentioned I am going to finish off the bases soon. As for the 1 hour of work, brush size helps. I do most of my painting with XL brushes to get paint in the right areas quickly 1. XL Base coat brush + overbrush the bases entirely of each model. Seconds of work, no drying time 2. Rinse XL brush, take out stegadon scale, overbrush the entire miniature, avoiding the boots area. Again, seconds per miniature with the size of the brush, no drying time. 3. Rhinox hide on the boots with a detail brush, took a minute or two per miniature, had to dry a little while, but I was working on the next step while it did. 4. The most time consuming part, about 3 to 5 minutes per miniature. Took a medium size brush and painted all the metallics quickly. I went about 1mm over the edges overpainting cuz of the speed, but again with the idea of "wash will get it" 5. Put some dabs of rakarth flesh on all the skull/bone things and wrappings on gloves and weapons. 6. Drown them in aggrax earthshade. 7. Drybrush everything with baneblade brown with a XL brush. 8. Glaze leather/cloak with mournfang brown 9. Glaze stegadon areas with mechanicus standard grey 10. Paint skin, give it a wash. Including drying times, I started painting around 11:15pm yesterday, I planned to sleep around 12 and wanted to get it done quickly. I was done at 1am or so, the aggrax took ages to dry.
  16. I wanted to get magores fiends done since I do not plan to play the warband, but still wanted to finish it in case I change my mind in the future. So I decided to experiment and see what i can produce speed painting. I spent about 15 minutes per miniature with the below results. Still need to finish the rims and such. What is your honest opinion about these? I overpainted a lot due to the speed, but the wash seems to have fixed most issues. Is this a decent enough standard? The hound failed slightly, but oh well.
  17. I think the ones without cards should have been at least 33% cheaper though, I was hoping to pick up a bunch just to convert, but I may just stick with the ones with cards and resell the cards. I think a better product would have been all the neutral cards packed together for 20 euro, so people that do not own all warbands can still have all cards.
  18. The snow looks absolutely amazing on these miniatures. Really nicely done!
  19. Skaven was said to be released right before or right after AOS2, which would be July as well then, but that seems quite optimistic considering we have not even had a single spoiler in the rumour engine.
  20. As long as they announce it relatively early like they did with Idoneth and Daughters of khaine, at least we'll know what to look forward to (please let it be Skaven)
  21. Finished converted Skaven Warlord on Brood Horror to go into my Nippon Skaven army.
  22. Morathi has me wondering if she is splashable in other order armies. Such a nice model
  23. What did you use for the effect? Green stuff? Looks really well done btw.
  24. They look really good :), I personally thing wet brushing gives a bit of a cleaner finish then drybrushing. Tends to look way too gritty when drybrushed. So may have worked out for the best!
