  1. Thanks for the clarification! SG
  2. So, are Thralls and Reavers sold in two separate boxes, or can you construct 10 Thralls or 10 Reavers with just one box? Thanks in advance SG
  3. Haven't yet gotten into WarCry at all, but I'm interested in building an Idoneth Deepkin warband. Again, I'm a complete newbie, so for those that have had experience in the game, what would you recommend for a beginner Idoneth player? Thanks in advance! SG
  4. The reason I asked is because I had bought all the models needed for a Braggoth's Beast Hammer Battalion since it was one of (if not the first) to have multiple factions in the same Battalion. And, I already really liked the Beastclaw Raiders. So, I got all the models needed. I was just hoping that I wouldn't have to put the very expensive Gore-Gruntas to the side and focus only finding a way to buy new models. Your explanation helps A LOT! Thanks very much! SG
  5. Apologies in advance if this question has already been asked, but since Beastclaw Raiders have been added to the Ogor Mawtribes Battletome, are the Battalions and Warscrolls in the Beastclaw Raiders Battletome still valid. Or, do Beastclaw Raiders fall completely within the rules found in the Ogor Mawtribes Battletome now? Thanks in advance! SG
  6. Thank you both for your recommendations! I really appreciate you taking the time to write these for me. SG
  7. I know this is a lot to ask, but I was wondering if someone could help me put together a decent 1000 point list. I already have the following models (not all painted yet): 1 x Auric Runesmiter 1 x Auric Runeson on Magmadroth 1 x Auric Runefather 1 x Auric Runemaster 1 x Battlesmith 1 x Doomseeker 1 x Grimwrath Berzerker 5 x Hearthguard Berzerkers 5 x Auric Hearthguard 20 x Vulkite Berzerkers Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks SG
  8. I spent probably an hour looking through old Sprues, and no luck on finding the frog. I can't find the Carnosaur head for Sunblood Shield as well, but I am considering using a piece of Tyranid carapace for that instead. I think it would work well. I may have a second Scar Veteran shield I can use for his shield. I just find it odd because I never get rid of any sprues that have bits on them. But, I can't find these Sprues. I cut all of the bits off the Warriors, Knights, and Skink sprues. But, I can't seem to find the Carnosaur/Troglodon sprue even though I bought two Start Collecting boxes. And, the Terradon sprues seem to have completely disappeared on me. Granted, since I bought any of these models, I have gotten married and moved in with my wife. Those sprues could have gotten lost in the move. Either way, I can make some changes to models to create a Sunblood, maybe a Scar Veteran on foot, an Astrolith Bearer, Scar Veteran on Cold one (up to six of them). But, no Slann. I'm not giving up on looking for these sprues yet (though I doubt I have them anymore), but it's a pretty big bummer either way. That said, I may just end up going with your idea for a 1000 point list instead. Again, thank you for that. SG
  9. So, I built both the Oldblood (on a separate base) and a Scar Veteran for the Carnosaur using two different Start Collecting boxes. So, I'm not sure if I can kitbash one of these, but I am very interested in how to do it. Thanks in advance SG
  10. First of all, thank you very, very much for the 1000 point list. That list will most likely be used. As to your question about points... no, it doesn't have to be at 2K. The reason why I want to play at 2K points is that most AoS tournaments are at 2K points. Now, please don't misunderstand, I'm not a competitive player. But, I have a feeling that it'd be fun to go to a few tournaments for the sake of seeing what the tournament scene is like when actually playing, meeting new people, maybe making some new friends. I met one of my very good friends to this day when I started playing Magic: The Gathering back in 2012. Here's the quick and dirty of it all. I buy way too many Warhammer models, and I stress myself out trying to get them painted, changing my mind on what army I want to work on, ignoring other hobbies, etc. I am floored by the amazing look and color schemes of the new Ossiarch Bonereapers and want them so badly. But, I have promised my wife that I would get an army fully painted at 2000 points and play a game or two to see if I actually enjoy AoS (my attention span is usually around 90 minutes). If I don't enjoy 2000, I'll definitely give 1000 points a try. But, if I honestly don't enjoy playing the game, I'm not going to put any money into a new army (with the possible exception of an Ossiarch Bonereapers model here or there for a painting competition). One more thing, I put this same original post on Reddit, and someone mentioned that there is a frog model that comes with the Terradon/Ripperdactyl model kit that people have used as a Slann. I keep most of the bits that I don't use on the sprue in a box. I know where that box is, and I plan to look for it tonight. I've seen some people use the seat for the Carnosaur as the throne for the Frog. It turns out really well. Since they are all GW bits/models, I have a feeling that it wouldn't be disallowed in either casual games or tournaments as a Slann Starmaster. Thanks! SG
  11. Is a Seraphon army worth running without a Slann (casual games only)? Son’s Birthday coming up soon, Christmas, car maintenance, etc.... doesn’t really leave room for buying new models right now. And, it seems that, while using two battalions, Seraphon is the only AoS army I have that can get close enough to 2000 points. Here’s what I have. Please keep in mind that all these models were bought during AoS1 not 2 (when summoning became such a huge part of the game) and I had intended on using them in WFB as well as T9A at the time: +++ AoS Seraphon (Age of Sigmar) [1,990pts] +++ + Leader + Engine of the Gods [240pts] + Behemoth + Troglodon [140pts] + Artillery + Razordons [50pts]: Razordons + Battleline + Saurus Warriors [180pts]: 2x 10 Saurus Warriors, Celestite Spear, Stardrake Icon, Wardrum + Other + Skink Handlers [40pts]: 3 Skink Handlers + Battalion + Battalion: Firelance Starhost [630pts] . Saurus Knights: 5 Saurus Knights, Celestite Lance, Stardrake Icon, Wardrum . Saurus Knights: 5 Saurus Knights, Celestite Lance, Stardrake Icon, Wardrum . Saurus Knights: 5 Saurus Knights, Celestite Lance . Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur: Celestite Greatblade Battalion: Shadowstrike Starhost [660pts] . Skink Starpriest . Skinks: 2x 10 Skinks, Boltspitters and Moonstone Clubs . Skinks: 2x 10 Skinks, Meteoric Javelins and Star-bucklers . Terradon Riders: 3 Terradon Riders, Starstrike Javelin + Command Points + Purchased Command Points [50pts]: 1 Command Point Thanks in advance! SG
  12. Thanks for the info! I think I knew some of that, but it had been pushed back to the back of my mind. SG
  13. Recently, after spending way too much time and energy on trying to put together too many armies, I've decided that I might just head back to my roots. When I started Warhammer, I was a 40K-only person. But, one day, I decided I might give AoS a shot. The very first models I bought were a Necromancer and a box of Grave Guard. I no longer have the Grave Guard (gave them to a friend when I moved on to other AoS projects). But, I now have a want to go back to my roots when it comes to AoS. Go back to playing Death. I've been out of really keeping up with the AoS game (mostly a hobbyist). But, with free summoning being a thing now, It seems that having a large number of summonable units is the best way to play any army (except for the armies that don't have any summoning abilities). I'd like to run the following as a Grand Host of Nagash, and I know I'm a unit short of 2000 points. But, I also don't have any additional units to be summoned. So, would it even be worth painting all of what I have if my 2000 point army won't have any summonable units? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks SG
  14. You are correct, the game is very new and has a lot of potential to grow. The biggest issue with GW games outside of proper AoS and proper 40K is staying power. I think the real question should be, is GW going to add enough depth and stabilize the rules a little more before people get tired of it and abandon it? If GW releases some additional rules/depth out within the next month or so, it has a chance to stay around. If they wait to see how well it sells before they start to care about it, it'll be too late... people will already have moved on. Just my $0.02 based on my local meta SG
  15. Considering that AoS really doesn’t have a current functioning Skirmish game, if AoS gamers want a Skirmish game, it’ll take off. Yes, AoS Skirmish exists as well as Underworlds. But neither offer gameplay and/or decent balance like Warcry might (and hopefully will). Plus, you can use all your own models in Warcry if you want to play Order, Destruction, or Death. That’s a big positive for me. I’m really hoping that they allow other Chaos armies to be played in the near future. While Chaos is represented by the Warcry warbands, I can’t think of any reason (narrative or gameplay) why current chaos factions couldn’t be included as well. SG
  16. There are some reviewers out there that have the game from GW for review/hype purposes. All of the stores should have a demo copy set up and ready to play. But, at least here in the US, the game doesn't actually come out until 8/3 (this Saturday). I have a feeling we'll know a lot more about the game in about 10 to 20 days or so when many people have had time to paint up a Warband of their choice as well as the Terrain. And, after that, had plenty of time to play the game (Matched, Open, and Narrative play). While there will be some on this forum that will be able to answer your question now, I have a feeling that it'll be a while yet before you get several true gamers' thoughts on the game. SG EDIT: Necromunda is the same way at my local GW. There seems to literally be no interest in it at all. They have the core game at the store, but they have ZERO of the additional gangs. My FLGS down the road a bit has the core game and all of the additional gangs.
  17. From what I can tell, it's essentially an AoS version of Necromunda 2017 with the ability to use many more models from outside the Warbands that are made for use with the game. A lot of people seem to be comparing it to Kill Team, but I'm honestly not seeing the similarities unless it's in game length. SG
  18. Very good topic! Would love to see a dedicated Warcry forum. SG
  19. Does it stay within the lore to have Clanrats in a unit with different colored fur, robes, and armor? Or are they all very similar to each other for each army? Thanks SG
  20. I've been considering this idea for a while. Spire of Dawn (speaking of Skaven specifically) came with both Square and Round bases. I'm not sure which ones to use. If I want to play T9A, I have a feeling that Square is the only way to go. But, on the plus side, with the new Armageddon coming out soon, GW is releasing brand new round movement trays for 25mm, 32mm, and 40mm bases. SG
  21. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me get to a good, solid 1000 points of Skaven. I'm not looking for a 1000 point tournament or TAC list. I'm just looking for a list that will definitely hold its own, but it won't be one of those that no one at my GW or FLGS wants to play against because it's very difficult to beat. Here is what I currently have (all from Spire of Dawn and Silver Tower): HQ 1 Skaven Warlord/Clawlord 2 Deathrunners (no longer exists since Battletome Vermintide - maybe be used as Deathmaster instead) 1 Warlock Engineer Battleline 2 units of 20 Clanrats Other Units 2 Rat Ogors 1 Packmaster (only exists in units of 3 since Battletome Vermintide) 1 Poisoned Wind Mortar Weapon Team (no longer exists since Battletome Vermintide) 1 Warpfire Thrower Weapon Team I don't mind getting new models as needed. My guess is that I'm going to need at least 40 more clanrats even for a 1000 point army. Would it be worth investing in a Verminlord? If so, which would be best for the units I have above? While I think they were meant to be run as Clan Moulder for Spire of Dawn, I'm painting mine as Clan Skryre. Thanks in advance! SG
  22. Here's the thing, I see it possible to do 2K in an hour if you know your army well as knowing the scenario and placement well. And, I don't have any problems with a full day of playing as long as there are breaks. I don't currently have the option (no table, no specific area) to have friends over... nor do I know many people who play Warhammer that I would like to invite into my house. Please don't get me wrong, I don't mind playing against them at my local GW or FLGS but not my house with my wife and stepson around. If I had a chance to break to get something to eat, something to snack on, bathroom breaks, just chill and clear my mind breaks every 60 to 90 minutes or so, I think I'd honestly enjoy a full day of gaming... even if it was just one game. But, while my local GW doesn't mind food or drink in the store at all, it's not really easy to get to, the hobbyists get access to the chairs first (as they should), and there's really no easy way to take a break as either your opponent may not want to break the flow of the game or others may be waiting to use the table. SG
  23. Thank you. It's actually kinda sad, but I don't know all of the AoS abbreviations. SG
