  1. Pretty sure khorne is an 'old battletome' with allegiance abilities. The Wrath and Rapture box updated some warscrolls to be 'new' style but the majority are awaiting updates like unmodified 6 etc which seems to be the thing from here on out.
  2. I'm a bit confused as to why people think khorne is getting another battletome soon. The only indication for this seems to be changed warscrolls in Wrath and Rapture but warscrolls changes don't necessarily indicate a reprinted book. KO got a warscroll change in GHB with no new tome and BoC changes tzaangor warscrolls so by that logxmic Tzeentch is just as likely for a reprint sometime soon. The same goes for errata and allegiance ability summoning changes, for which all apply to Tzeentch too (and KO is similarly know for it's errata). Add to that that no new models came for khorne in wrath and Rapture but just long awaited plastics for their battleline leads me to thinking khorne isn't really in line for anything more soon.
  3. The store has no impact on rules, it's the key words you need to look at and since they don't share the faction ones they are considered allies. If in doubt, always assume the warscrolls is how to decide the rules and not any apps, pictures, indirect references or other non-rule set medium. Edit: just realised you said "in the future" so you weren't thinking the way I was. I think whilst there is definitely a chance of that occuring, none of the store changes have yet led to anything definitive and it could merely be a way of them making it less cluttered. The fact that it came with no fanfare from GW means it's likely they don't out much weight behind those categories.
  4. Don't even need mystic shield if you have a CA to spare. TLAs command ability already lets you rerollable save rolls of one.
  5. I was mostly focusing on which battletomes expand on which realms indeed. I was going to included Seraphon and Pestilens but I can't remember their books really dealing with the lore of specific realms and more just general stuff. I guess you could agree that Pestilens helps to expand on the realm of Chaos itself and how it is interacts with other realms, in which case I'd also like to add Everchosen. I haven't read much black library stuff or the realmwars so I didn't include them but from what I can gather Ashqy, Shyish and Ghyran seem to show up a lot with Ulgu and Hysh being pretty rare. Please correct me if I'm wrong however.
  6. Yea, id actually say that Hysh is the least expanded upon of all the realms. They haven't really said which chaos god is dominant there (assume Tzeentch but he's Chamon too) and all we know is that a bunch of yet unreleased 'light' aelves are there. The core book stuff was brief too and I think we only have a very limited about of art for the realm. I expect there building up something in the background that gradually lead to a major campaign there which I assume will be related to Slaanesh and the aelves. For the record, I believe the following expand each realm: - Azyr - stormcast, small section in beasts of chaos - Ashqy - fyreslayers, khorne, anything about hammerhal, large section in core book, seems to commonly show up in other stories and battletomes and is likely most fleshed out realm - shyish - legions of Nagash, flesh eater courts, nighthaunt, large section in core book - ghyran - Slyvaneth, nurgle, large section in core book - Chamon - Tzeentch, khahadron overlords, gloomspite gitz - Ghur - bonesplitterz, beastclaw raiders, ironjawz - Ulgu - daughters of Khaine - Hysh - small section in Deepkin (Deepkin kind of touches on a lot of realms but only really the seas for obvious reasons. Focus on ghyran and shyish from what I remember)
  7. Liking the collaboration at play here to develop a faction that could have a strong place in AoS lore. I have one minor issue though, in the introduction you've written 'Flash of thunder' which makes no sense. It should be 'flash of lightning' instead. Like I said, minor issue but just makes the whole thing seem more professional.
  8. Ooh, this could be an interesting story actually. Humans have now come to live in a world where death isn't the end, they don't need to be afraid of Nagash if they just fight valiantly and get resurrected as a Stormcast. In a world where people are willing to turn to chaos for power this must be a highly tempting offer, all the strength with none of the eternal damnation. Armies start mustering around the realms, knowing even if they fail, they'll be back stronger than ever to get revenge. They march fearlessly into Chaos hordes, rampaging Waaghs and legions of undead, falling by the hundreds. Little do they know, the Anvil of Apotheosis is broken, the salvation they seek is unattainable and death means walking into Nagashs open arms. Sigmar is forced to watch on as the very inspiration and hope he sought to bring backfires, whilst his Stormcast scramble to find a solution.
  9. New player so may be completely off with this but I think Agressive Defence could be an interesting card to use on Mollog. It would only work on high health but you could use it for a nasty surprise where you let a 3 damage attack through, inspire, and then immediately attack back in your inspired state. It's kind of risky and may require some other cards to make sure he doesn't get one shot afterwards but I can see it being a fun option.
  10. Im not sure tome of offerings is broken but I do think it's a very bad card design just because it's a straight up better version of the faction specific cards that already exist. Either those factions stack them which is just painting a big target on one guys head (spreading it around could be viable but that's two upgrades used to only get +1 glory at a time) or they run the tome and their own cards become obsolete which is never good in my mind.
  11. Can't say I'm impressed by any of them nor the idea of the upgrade kits in general. The last stormcast all vanished basically meaning people were left with half upgraded armies. I wish they'd just put out new models instead of upgrade packs though I guess these are money makers. As for the heads themselves, half the female ones are far too small for the bodies. The sequitor on the top right in particular looks kind of ridiculous. The males look a bit better but some are just silly and unimaginative (a lightning bolt eye patch? Seriously?). Also, is it just me or does the quality seem a bit off? I think it's made even more obvious since they put them on new models but I think the plastic stuff looks a lot better than these. That said, for positives it's good to see FW releasing more for AoS (even if I can't afford any of it living in Japan...) and hopefully signals the start of an expanding of their frankly pathetic fantasy range.
  12. Whilst I don't think they are a priority, I think if the current trends continue then Slyvaneth may be due for a minor update to their allegiance ability. The core of their identity is that they had a unique terrain piece they interacted with but so far every release looks to be included a major terrain piece (for a grot focused armies and beast of chaos I'd say the terrain pieces are almost as core to their design as well) that gives considerable buffs. At this rate the only unique things about the ability with be the teleport and the ability to make more than one (though with multiple boats or loonshrine sized pieces it becomes harder to place them). I'm not saying they need a buff, just something to keep their identity intact and as such something like a very minor extra to their allegiance would be good (not really sure what but personally I see their core themes as trees, healing and magic so something that interacts with one of them).
  13. Gryph Hounds were changed to be forced to be taken in larger units and their ability only affects Stormcast now. Given that they cost 140pts for a minimum unit you basically never see them anymore.
  14. Thanks Yea, I know she's not allowed but my actual main army is Slyvaneth that I'm expanding into a living city army. If I want to take her I'll run a normal order army that just mixes things.
  15. The underworld crew will be two warscrolls too as the leader has a separate warscrolls (even though they have to be taken together) so that makes three in total.
  16. Underworlds at most will provide a unique sculpt for a something we already have. So far only one warband has had something genuinely new (Nighthaunt) though the Slyvaneth and Troll one will provide new stuff to based on what we know. You are also correct in saying they are part of the same single sprue meaning it will be impossible to easily separate the hero (which I doubt they will do as they are all supposed to be named characters). I think unfortunately for now DoK will not have any new characters added for a while. None of the older armies have had any second waves added yet and some of them are probably more deserving at this point. Would be nice to pick up things without buying another shrine I may or may not need though...
  17. Regarding artefacts on allies youre not allowed in matched play which is a shame but understandable. As for the list, it seems solid but I have some suggestions and concerns. 1) I don't think the vexillor is worth it. His teleport is nice but 20 sequitors is a huge footprint to find space for and if you're aiming for your opponent to come to you you may find it doesn't make much difference to just moving normally. I'd take a Knight-Heraldor instead. With one your sequitors can run and charge, as well as retreat and charge if necessary. Since you want to wrap your does as much as possible, this lets you start with a wide net and pull in the outsides around the opponent. Throw in a command point and you have an 11" move and charge. Equally important is the ability to retreat and charge however. Imagine you get into combat with a large unit and manage to wrap around the front quarter in two ranks. You successfully cast the wall behind them but realise there is just enough space for them to get away. On your turn, you retreat in such a way that the units at the side spread out around the opponent and your second rank takes their original spots. You now charge again, except this time you've closed the gapes they could have used to escape whilst also allowing the majority of the unit to attack (important with such large unit that can easily be tagged from the side). 2) your bubble wrap on the Sorceresses is quite weak and easily killed in combat. You say they are there to cast the wall but the wall is cast before movement and if you want to cast it in such a way to trap a unit they need to be pretty close to you at the end of their last turn (double turns aside). If they are close enough for that, they are likely in a position to charge your bubble wrap, likely killing them all and threatening your fragile wizards. If I was you is find some way to beef up their body guards. 3) the ballista, whilst strong at long range, are better at mid to close ranges. This means they may have the opposite effect of what you are predicting, making your opponent stay back out of their mid range shooting and firing back with their own shooters. The comet should help with this but some armies will be able to easily dispell it or just move away from it and shoot with impunity. If you manage to position them well you may be able to funnel the opponent with them, but I have a feeling it may be better to swap them out with more bodies to tie up the enemy with and proc the anvilgard ability. Hope that helps, anvilgard is probably my second favourite of the cities and it presents one of the biggest puzzles in list building. I think it's important not to build a list that relies too much on the ability because being both a random chance and making it so your opponent can run away instead means many games it may do nothing at all.
  18. Allies don't get access to spells from their books because spells are part of the allegiance abilities. As far as I'm aware, the only way to get the tree summoning spell in is with the Harvestboon battalion I mentioned on the previous page.
  19. So do the living city allegiances just get access to the entire Order list as allies? If such that's great! I'm going to have to go off and do another look over my army now for useful models to ally in...
  20. Gonna make a few that I hope are managable: - Paint 2000pts of Slyvaneth which I'm almost about to finish (can't quite do it this year unfortunately). - Finish painting my kill team and then only play games with painted models, if I want to add models I need to paint them first - Paint any models that require subassembly first in order to allow me to build everything in my collection and throw away the boxes piling up. Already got a budget per month so not going to impose a buying limit though I'd like to make headway into painting everything. Getting very tempted to sell my 40k stuff since I haven't played a game in forever and I can't afford to keep up with three AoS armies and 40k rules books.
  21. I'd like old characters to be kept to a minimum and only when it makes sense. Especially when it comes to bringing back non-immortal ones as it will just bring back the old status quo of characters losing and winning in such a way that they are still alive and strong to prevent their fans from being annoyed. One of the things I like about AoS is how the lore can be moved forward easily and many characters can genuinely be killed with the knowledge that it's a major set back but they'll be back later for lore friendly reasons.
  22. Whilst it's true only allegiances the battalion is from and the Grand Alliance allegiance can use battalion warscrolls, that doesn't affect Free Cities as they ARE Grand Alliance: Order allegiance. If you look at the matched play errata below you'll see it's explicitly states that the allegince of the army is NOT changed when taking the benefits of a Free City. The Free City rules are merely taken in addition to the normal allegiance ones.
  23. You can take battalions but only the units from it get the benefits of it. As any amount of Slyvaneth can be in the battalion they can all receive the benefits but Wanderers don't get it unless they are in the battalion (I believe winter leaf lets you take one Order unit as part of the battalion which could be a wanderer, Dispossessed, Stormcast or free guild unit) Speaking of battalions in the Living City I may have stumbled upon something fun earlier today. Thr Harvestboon battalion is based around three units of Dryads and two Branchwraiths. You get +1 to casting and unbinding for the wraiths, as well as +1 to runs and charge for the Dryads. Most notable, however, is the unique artefact the army brings. This artefact lets you take an extra spell on a Branchwraith of your choice. The catch; that spell HAS to be generated from the Deepwood Lore. Now unless this has been errata'd or FAQ'd (I checked and saw nothing) this means that's it's possible to get access to the spell that summons Wyldwoods outside of the Slyvaneth allegiance. The battalion is somewhat cheap too at 680pts whilst giving you access to three artefacts (it's two battalions in one), 2 CP, three battle line units, two +1 casting wizards which have a unique spell to summon more Dryads. It seems like a pretty solid choice in my mind and I'm thinking of trying it out whilst I build up my main list.
  24. Whilst the scales might be a bit in the large side the hints could be for the new Keeper of Secrets. If you look at the current seekers of Slaanesh, a number of them have scaled backs, and if you look at the heads on the new Fiends you'll see a scaly area behind the eyes. They don't look quite the same but assuming the scale on the Keeper is a lot bigger this could be part of a scaly section on them (maybe a tail?)
  25. Minor correction, Namarti do have souls they just burn out at a far faster rate than normal. They use other souls as fuel for their own rather than as replacement.
